I have GOT to bring the Tacoma to Alaska in the near future! We're cruising there summer of 2023, but I need the truck tent adventures up there!
I often think of what items I'd take if I were a contestant on "Alone." The A1 almost always makes the cut, especially if I can't shoehorn in a hatchet in the 10 item list.
I can't wait to upgrade to the Pro series - that sweet CoS steel looks pretty amazing!
@TheShotgunMessenger : I'm envious. :-)
That is very fair. It is an insanely well rounded knife for sure
Good review , thanks for sharing ,God bless !
Thanks for watching!
I just ordered a Cold Steel SRK in San Mai steel. Looks super similar. I've heard great things about both.
I like the thumbnail
Deagle nation! What ever happened to Jace? This channel answers that question and more... stay tuned.
Fallkniven make fine knives!
Yes they do!
Looks like a awesome knife! You still got snow? I know your dying for spring now!
Thanks. Yes we will have snow until May/June
Good review. I am looking for a stainless steel alternative to the ESEE 6 and this might be the one I end up with.
FOLLOW-UP:
As a follow-up I decided to pick one of these up. I chose the option with the leather dangler style sheath. Thanks again for the information on this knife.
That's awesome to hear! I hope it serves you well. I think you'll enjoy it a lot!
@@AlaskanFrontier1 I decided to pair it with an ESEE 3 and ESEE 4 both in S35VN. I think I am set now.
I believe Fallkniven makes the best convex grind knives. This works very well with their thick blades such as my A1X and S1X. For thinner blades I have both the SK5, VG10 SRK and Recon Tanto. I find the thick Fallknivens are perfect for cutting and clearing branches of mature bamboo for fishing poles or saplings for walking/shelter poles.
Take a look at Busse, the INFI steel is awesome
Again, I REALLY wish the A1 was thinner stock like my ESEE 6....but hands down the A1 is the top choice for a winter survival knife. Agreed! 👍
The up side is despite its quarter inch thickness, it does not "feel" like you're handling that thick of a blade in hand. It also doesn't feel as heavy as it looks.
Great winter blade, especially if you do a lot of batoning with a knife like making properly sized pieces for a stove in a hot tent or something.
I have yet to field dress or process a deer with my A1. Has anyone done this with theirs and how did it go?
I can understand that too. I will say though that the thickness does help with chopping!
A1pro is the king in winter
No doubts!
Always love your videos but I wanted to suggest putting about a 10 or 15 second outro on them. Just a screen with with your contact info and/or channel name etc. I watch you on TV and by the time I realize you are done and try to pick up the remote to leave a like, it's over instantly. Lots of channels I watch make this mistake. I always start the video again to leave you a like but I bet you will get a lot more likes if the video didn't just stop so fast without warning. I would also love to see the BK9 (with the factory micarta handle added) in a survival knife video from you. All the best, keep up the great work. You always have a brother in the mountains of NC if you ever get down this way. Mike Redfish
Thanks for letting me know. I will do that going forward. I appreciate the feedback, and I am glad to know I have support!!
