If you want to target bobcat, may I suggest, try a cubby. A lot of those paths you set in the cedars just read a nice cubby set. You can also set them in middle of/edges of fields and your trails. Another idea, some blind sets. Lots of different options to choose from. Congrats on the yote! I caught my first one when I was 14, first day of bear season too 😂

Apparently I’m an og
I’m 16 and my brother taught me when I was younger so I’ve trapped majority of my life and I’ve never worried about my scent on my traps or used pan covers, just wax the traps and put them out but I’ve always used deer carcasses and just parts of deer carcasses and I’ve probably caught on the upper end of 500 coyotes and around 150 foxes but only 1 bobcat and more possums and rickys then I’m proud of lol. Maybe if you can get a deer carcass try putting it between two logs that are in a v shape and put a stick through it to hold it down so they can’t just run off with it. And use 2 traps in a set. I’m not saying what you’re doing is wrong but I just want to see if maybe you’ll see this and try the ol West Virginian way😂

I would suggest boiling them. Additionally, rust is actually a good thing on traps in moderation, a layer of oxidation actually protects the metal underneath and helps to hide scent.
