About this video:
I have begun purchasing some plants to plant out in the garden this season. I was looking for some perennials for dry shade to plant under some trees in my backyard woodland area. I also picked up a few new fun finds. I can't wait to get these all planted out. Tell me, do you grow any of these plants in your garden? what are your thoughts, comment below. Thanks for watching - Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b) #gardening #plants #spring #shopping
Hi Garden Friends, Here's my Amazon Store Where You Can Find Many of My Favorite Garden Items:

Love that 😂😂😂. "I'm not buying any more plants........ this month".
Four days left till the end of the month. LOL.
@@Lana-zq8vr We gardners can't stop!
😂
Yep. Just told my husband that this morning! He rolled his eyes and walked away. 😆😆
“Can’t stop thinking about it. I need it.” That was me w your last Home Depot video. The ground covers especially in the more affordable containers were awesome!
You will love Tulip Tarda! I am also in Massachusetts, zone 6 and have grown it for several years, starting it from bulbs. It has filled in beautifully as a low ground cover. The flowers are only about 6 inches tall and right now, in late April, it is a bright sea of yellow and white stars. Love it!
I’ve become a big bergenia fan this year. Never heard of it before. I bought 12 plugs and then you sent me to HD, thank you, and now I’ve also got a tray of seeds germinated. Hoping to outsmart the rabbits and especially the woodchuck. Love Sylvan’s.
Beautiful plants selection!!!! Your garden is going to be beautiful!!!
We had such a fun day!💕
You picked up so many beauties, can’t wait to see them in their new homes.
After watching this video, I decided I need more caramel heuchera in my garden, they are just so good!🤗
And let me know how you make out not buying any more plants “this month!” 🤣
Beautiful selection Steph 🥰 I love finding little independent nurseries as you find some gems 🥰🥰
Great video. I say everytime. No More Plants! Till the next Nursery,
What a nice surprise to see you buying a Gallery Yellow Lupine. I just got a pack of seeds of them in the mail. I hope mine does as well as yours. Great video, I am loving to see your garden evolving. S2
Beautiful plants. My bleeding hearts got hit with the frost but are starting to bounce back. ❤❤❤
Nice haul Steph, the garden center you went to in Westport is amazing , great inventory.I have a package of Lupine seeds here sitting on my table and your video reminded me to start sowing them, Lupines remind me of my childhood home in Germany, my mom always had them in her garden , greetings from the Western part of Massachusetts
I have a section in my garden where I plant things I don’t know if I’m going to like. I only buy one. And watch it for a while. 😂I’m very picky. Then if it passes the test I move it to the rest of the garden and get three.
Lovely variety Steph,
My bleeding heart does better with more sun.
It didn't flower last year but as soon as I placed some mulch and grow around the base of the plant, this spring, it emerged with plenty of flowers and foliage.
So they do require some attention when it comes to mulching and feeding.
The bergenia do grow fairly big and wide so give them plenty of room....you can divide them easily.
Love the dainty white flowered plant you are yet to get....the delicate flowers are so pretty.
The lemon lupin will be a fabulous show in your garden....especially with pastel colours like blues and pinks. I put delphiniums around mine for a nice contrast...but the deer would probably eat them in a flash!
Happy gardening 😊 Jo.
Good day. I have a few bunches of the tulips that you bought. They naturalize and for me, I planted a bag of variety of those bulbs so I have the yellow as well as red ones. The pink bleeding heart, I have 2 huge bunches, one in the back garden and one in the side garden. They get morning sun and then afternoon shade. In the heat of the summer they both die back. Then you are left a bare spot. I thing maybe this year I may plant a nice ground cover so that I have something till the first harsh frost. I live in BC, Canada and miss piggy was available last year and this year. I don't think it is new for 2024. Enjoyed the shopping trips as well as the plant haul that you will be planting. Enjoy your garden life.
Pls watch that Fargesia Bamboo carefully. Update: just watched the rest of vid and you do say youll be potting it up😊. I have some and it does spread... maybe slower than others ... I'm in Zone 6. I hope you'll keep us updated on how it does in your garden. I put mine in a large trug and tucked it behind other plants.
Love your flowering selections❤.
That Dakota Burgundy penstemon is evergreen for me in my 6B garden. I love it so much! I have it planted by a silver evergreen and another group by a yellow evergreen and so it’s great for winter interest.
Love your pick of plants. You are one of my motivator. I get the courage to try new items by watching you shop. Thanks.
Highly recommend hunting for gilllenia (now porteranthus) pink profusion - foliages emerges on the purple side before greening up flowers light pink (from Mt Cuba) - but grow both
Well Steph I went to the Home Depot yesterday here on the Cape. Have to say they had almost everything you showed in your video but on a smaller scale and jam packed! I know what you mean when you say you wanted to go back for something you saw. I had my eye on a crab apple tree. First have to remove a shrub to make room for it! Glad you had a fun day plant shopping this month, but watch out for May! My next Social Security check conveniently arrives on May 15th! 😂
I planted last winter and this winter lupine in winter sowing method. I was very successful. Last year planted should have blooms this year. Can’t wait what color I will have.
I too laugh when you said I will not be buying anymore plant this month. I don't know if I could handle the withdrawal for a whole month. lol
Luckily it's the end of the month!😅
Thanks, Steph!
Hi Steph, I live in Ohio by lake Erie. I think it's zone 5 . I planted three coralbells in full sun and they are crazy huge. They're the deep dark red variety with pretty pink flowers. So you never know what's going to happen. I have love you channel. You are so easy to listen to. Thanks for sharing.
Aren't you zone 6 now? Didn't they change the zones fairly recently?
I love the selection of plants that you got, will look so beautiful in your landscape. Thanks for sharing 🦋🌻🦋
Thank you for doing a “shade” plant shopping! I have so much shade at my home and I feel like shade areas get skipped over in many videos. Do you have any suggestions for morning shade and afternoon sun? ❤
Of all the Epimedium I have - I still love Sulphereum the best in all aspects. Stunning.
Oh! I just picked up a Mai Tai Geum this weekend. What a sweetie! This is my first ever Geum.
Steph, too funny! Love 💕 the new plants and going shopping. Enjoy! 😂
It looks like Christmas at your house today. What a great variety of plants. Every year your garden becomes more beautiful with such a great variety of plants.
Thank you so much Kay! Its the only thing I enjoy using my spending money on, and well yarn in the winter. When i was younger, it was nails, shoes, and clothes. How tastes change. 🥰
A couple of weeks ago, when we were in Home Depot, I had seen a 14 inch planter with 3 of the Proven Winners Rockin series salvias. It was almost $30. I pondered buying it, but ended up passing it up. Then last week I decided since I had a perfect spot for it, I would go back and buy it. Well, I searched all over and finally found the last one pushed under a table with a bunch of the stems broken off. The vendor who handles the PW plants happened to be there, and I asked if I could get a reduced price. She let me have it for $10! It pays to just ask. I am a happy gardener and am really glad I waffled on buying the first time.
Thanks for sharing visit to Sylvan nurseries. That is local for me! Going to have to check it out. May have to stop at Home Depot for those $7.98 sedums too😊
Note this nursery is primarily wholesale but has retail hours check website before going
Very nice and beautiful ❤️ 😍 🤩 👌
The Home Depot in Plymouth has very little stock however I picked up clearance lambs ear and candytuft that I think the store thought was damaged from our recent cold weather They are doing fine. Great tips on shopping clearance in past videos
Thanks Steph for introducing me to some beautiful plants.plant shopping with you, so much fun!😊
Great plant haul Steph!!
Hi Steph, great choices! Have fun 🌿
Fun fun fun pretty variety i need to buy me some sedum SO. PRETTY!!💚🌱
Love my Gallery Yellow lupine!
For a second, I thought you were going to say you weren't going to buy any more plants this season (or something equally as ridiculous!) LOL. Glad that you aren't going to deprive yourself! May is actually just around the corner. I might have to try geum after hearing how well you like them! Thanks again for a lovely tour and plant info video.
Great haul, Steph! I wish our Home Depot had collection like yours.
Can’t wait to see what you do with the bamboo!
I’ve looked into clumping bamboo a few times, but unsure of how to go about it. Had a bad experience with Red Baron Japanese Blood Grass… spread like wildfire and took over my bed… had to dig it all out… rhizomes went down at least a foot!
Be strong the rest of April in not buying any plants! 😄
Great video and information as always. Thank you for sharing. As for the bleeding hart, I have the pink and white, both in full sun, and they thrive. I am in zone 4b.
Steph, thanks for your video and I can see you have done a little shopping! Sounds like you are having a blast! I like the idea of your bergenia/Miss Piggy & Astilbe planted together. I am familiar with sedum & the coral jade sedum will be stunning. Planted a bloomerang dark purple lilac which is doing well and blooms in spring, midsummer and again in fall. Should get the fairytale bride hydrangea planted soon. Your videos have given me some ideas. Thanks again!
Great picks!!!
Definitely me all the time can't stop thinking about it lol 😊 pretty selections!
Beautiful choices! I’m going to try to find them at my Home Depot.
That is a fantastic garden center. It looks like such a great time and the plants you selected are gorgeous.
This month 😂, when you got excited about sedum ,ur voice tells us , someone is so happy 😀
Hi Stef 🌺 . These plants are so pretty and they are going to be amazing in your garden . Have a wonderful week . 🌺🌻🌺
Steph, you make me spend so much extra money 😂. I went to Home Depot to get the bergenia but my Home Depot usually never has what your does and I’ve tried several.
I saw your last video and ran to the Home Depot 🏃🏻♀️ they don’t have those size proven winners at mine 😢
So glad you made another trip back to your Home Depot 😀. I grew several of the Maverick series geraniums last year and they were beautiful and lasted even after our first frost. Looking forward to seeing your new plants in their new areas soon.
Your Home Depot has a great selection of plants! Last fall I planted Botanical Species Tulips and I am happy to report the black-tailed deer did not eat them! I chose Praestans Fusilier and Clusiana because heavy rain can beat up the delicate flowers of Botanical tulips and these 2 stand out amongst the group in terms of their toughness, per RoozenGaarde.
Love the selection you chose! Just a little warning, I planted my white bleeding hearts with my pink ones and the second year the white ones reverted back to pink😢.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'll be sure to plant it away from the pink ones.
Is that bamboo as invasive as other bamboo? When you said you were going to plant it I was all….”NOOOOOO! Don’t do it!friend! Don’t do it!” 😂 Bamboo is a nightmare that you simply CAN NOT get rid of! Ereeevvvveeeerrr!
nice beautiful plants!!! can't help my self when i go to the garden stores i come back with a load.i say i'm not buying but one are two come back with ten. lol they are going to look beautiful in your yard. can't wait to see them. have a great day
Loved your "I couldn't stop thinking about the plants" problem. I've had to go back many times to get plants I passed up on earlier. But had to go to Home Depot as soon as could after watching your last haul to get the yellow ITOH PEONY!!! I couldn't believe the price for such an awesome selection. Last year I saw prices at Nurseries selling the same size for around $110!!! Also Lowes was braking out a new shipment and they has Dark Maroon herbaceous peonies for only $19!! Anyway, it's nice to see someone else get as excited at I do about plants...and thanks again to you, I'll be looking for that 'Elf' epimedium😄
Steph my bergenia leaves turn red in the fall and are semi evergreen here in zone 5a.
This month!
Astilbe dark side of moon is really tough and surprisingly sun tolerant - in addition to great color NB Some penstemons can reseed so we have to deadhead ultimately Zone 6A New England
I laughed out loud with your pause about not buying more plants "this month" and I thought: right? Today is April 28th so I think that I also can go 2 days without buying more plants 😂🤣🤣🤣😅
🤣🤣😉
🤩😊
I went over to my home depot here in Maryland after seeing your last video.... such a disappointment! No pigsqueak, coral jade sedums, or any PW perennials. Just some calibrachoas. I guess all Home Depots are not the same....so sad!
Very surprised. HD carries a lot of PW. I bet they are selling them on line.
Buen video
💖👍🏻💖
Great price on the PW plants... our 4" annual pots are $7 this year :(
Great choices...love the white bleeding heart 😍
Yikes, too expensive for me!! Especially foe annuals!!!
Wow I’m getting sedum!!
Great haul Steph!
Hello! Where are you located? Mine doesn’t have these quart perrenials… jealous!
Hello, Massachusetts
You would be sooooo sad if you saw the plant selection at my Home Depot. I live in NorCal and should be spoiled for choice but my local store is pure disappointment.
I can't get away from plants for .ess than. $50
