    Do you know why a lot of carpenter's are wiry, like Fox? Because it's fricking hard work!

      I thought it was due to carpentry being an endurance sport, unlike some other trades where it is sprint, walk, sprint, walk as opposed to jog all day.

    Subbed a while back. Man, I appreciate the construction skill, the marketing savvy, the presentation. Not real typical skills I personally ever see in a young carpenter. And the channel in espanol to boot ! I'd trash those tennies in 2-3 weeks in my neck of the woods, guessing they provide some good grip though !

    Having a bit of a ' August Rush ' moment here, and perhaps this was intentional, but the beat at 13:43 was perfect with the power tool ( dont know the name ) being used...

    Can you do a video on where to put breaks and straps on a top plate? Also, how does the structural engineer determine where the straps go and what size they have to be?

    Matt, instead of all the heavy lumber for your foundation walls have you seen that fast foot footing system, It may save you time and save you $$$.

    OK, dumb question… what would the name of this job be? Like what job title would I search for in my area to do this? I figure it’s something more specific than just “construction?”

    I've been watching your videos for a couple of years and using them to teach carpentry to high school students. Excellent work Matt. You and your crew do really great work.
    A few months ago a student noticed that you guys are not wearing steel toed work boots. They are a requirement where I live. Are they not required in California?

    • @MattBangsWood
      @MattBangsWood  Рік тому

      Steel Toe is a requirement everywhere.
      When you’re on a roof, walking in big boots is like walking on a couple of 2x6 planks.
      You can’t feel anything under your feet.
      Vans wrap everything and keep traction.
      Only ever nearly fell off a roof once, while rocking Ariat Work Boots.

      @GlenPye Рік тому

      @@MattBangsWood Thanks. Figured that was the answer. Roofers here do the same thing.

    Mattbangswood do you or have you now or ever worked for the construction union and if you have are they racist?

    • @MattBangsWood
      @MattBangsWood  Рік тому +1

      My Dad worked union for a long time, didn't ever mention anything with race.. That was 10-15 years ago, but he has told me that it was pretty well diversified back then.
      Nowadays I have heard of some horror stories, that you need to fit a certain mold to get in. I can't speak on that though as I am not, nor can I be union.
