  • 26-NOV-84 Norwegian Sea, just off Narvik
K-371 (Victor II) has received new orders: stop NATO amphib force from landing at Narvik. We can expect 2-3 landers, maybe a container ship, plus an Iwo Jima class LPH, and various escorts.
28-NOV-84 Between Torshavn and Mo i Rana
We've intercepted the enemy amphib force. We are slightly ahead and to the right of it. We detected them at very long range... over 20 km, too long to attack reliably. We need to get closer.
With some patient maneuvering, we got within 10 km of the center, and we started our first salvo... 2 x 65-76 aimed at the center of formation, and retaliation was immediately, as we were hit by a light torpedo before we can evade. Fortunately the damage is slight.
We launched 2 x TEST-71s to discourage the escorts from chasing us, while we evade the rest of escort's torpedoes, and wait for the core ships to turn to a new course before releasing second salvo of 65-76s.
One of the escorts took a hit from the 65-76 and its wake crossed one of the landers, then another torpedo caught the other escort. A lander got hit by the 65-76, and my TEST-71 caught up to another lander.
In the meanwhile I was shooting off more 65-76s until I have none remaining, aiming for the Iwo Jima. However, it laterally displaced once, causing some torpedoes to miss. Fortunately, one of the missing torpedos found the container ship and took that down. My final 65-76 managed to home in on the Iwo Jima, damaging it.
However, in the process of trying to stay under 100m so I can pump out the flooded compartment, I accidentally broached the sub, which lead the Knox to shoot its cannon at me, and a couple rounds did hit before I was able to submerge. Fortunately, it didn't get a chance to shoot more torpedoes at me as my torpedo found him shortly after.
At this point, every ship in the invasion force had been damaged or sunk. With no torpedoes remaining, it's time to disengage. We need serious yard time as well.
GLAVCOM was quite happy and ordered us back to Murmansk.
    29-NOV-84 Murmansk
We arrived battered and bruised, but proud to have accomplished our missions. The yard promised to give us top priority, and I left my XO to handle the provisioning and repairs while I answered the summon from the admirals.
The sonar dome required additional 21 hours in the yard, but we are out after just over 3 days in port, including reload time.
Our new orders are to hunt for NATO sub heading to Andoya to drop off more commandos.
    02-DEC-84 Just north of Murmansk
We left port at first light, heading toward Andoya, wondering how long will the war last.

This will be my second attempt of Soviet campaign. If you want to watch the first version: • (CCPlays) 1984 Soviet ...
The year is 1984. For whatever reason that sounds plausible, the tension between the West and Soviet Union went taut, then snapped into open war. The Soviet Army can take Europe, if the Soviet Navy can stop or at least slow the amount of reinforcements reaching continental Europe from the US. And as a captain of a Soviet navy submarine, I will do my duty for the Motherland.
There is one mod to the campaign. I used the "Small Mods" guide (which I wrote, by the way) to remove the prestige requirement so I start in a Victor II, instead of the deathtrap diesel-electric subs like the Whiskey boats. You can learn how to do that here:
