Music is Magic. I might be influenced by Aboriginal 'songlines,' which go back millennia, but I think most indigenous cultures have used song to pass down information, especially information that was too sacred to make permanent in the form of writing. The act of writing a prayer or spell is an invocation in itself. The magic of music is that it transcends cultures, languages, age...everything. Makes information easy to remember and unites us in a way nothing else does. Music is laid down all over our brain, which is why alzheimers patients can sing songs they should have otherwise lost.💖 Thanks for a really enjoyable series of videos!!💖💖💖
I grew up in Wisconsin and my Norwegian/Irish/German ancestors came here to take advantage of the free land the government was giving that they stole from the Fox, Ho-Chunk, and Sauk peoples. I grew up Catholic, but have considered myself pagan since a teenager and have been studying the pre-Christan spirituality of my ancestors since then. I've learned from many different reputable sources now that it is entirely fine for us on this path in the US to learn from our heritage while at the same time creating practices that are relevant for today's world and the current lands we live upon. The main importance is the respect for the land and its energies and spirits. Its refreshing to hear these stories on your channel, thanks for sharing.
Do you think you might be having a change of heart when it comes to Pagan 'sects'? I used to consider myself a Norse Pagan, but lately I seem unsure of what path to choose. There are accusations of being termed as syncretic when you follow multiple Pagan religions, but English Paganism has always been a blend of Norse/Celtic, so why so much hostility for people with mixed European ethnicities who want to explore their other ethnic backgrounds(?)
I've always enjoyed the longer format of videos with all the extra tid bits of information, but i do understand more shorter vids to help the quick attention span to learn valuable information as well! Keep up the amazing work Jacob 😊

I think its okay if the traditions in Ireland are recreated as we all recover from colonisation ❤ We need artists and dreamers to create and recreate ❤

I truly believe Christanity was used to ruin, and deconnect the world tribes trying to force everyone under "One world religion" all those libries that burnt down, even my grnadmother's name was changed in the 1930's. Our origional last name was also changed, I was adopted, as many are, so much family lost.

And in some cases, excommunicated people who participated in it. Would that not be the same thing? Like for instance, the seventh son of the seventh son had cure of healing a variety of ailments there were others, but that’s just one that I can think of right now and the old generations really believed in it. it did come from Celtic tradition or at least came from pre-Christianity
I’ve recently started following the old ways and I went into a meditative state and tried to speak with the all father. But towards the end my voice changed into something that wasn’t mine. I felt a very strong energy as I was in the meditative state and I’ve always been able to feel the energy of things and especially in people I’ve always been drawn to nature and felt very connected with other energies. Is this the all father hearing me or something else?

IMHO, the difference between priest(ess) and shaman, is that the priest is the conservator of the past, and the shaman is the catalyst for the future. Learning and change, balancing society, like yin and yang.
Delighted that I stumbled upon this series of videos, I have enjoyed them all. I am Irish born and bred and I feel very 'connected' to ancient attitudes. In my own personal opinion... I do think that a person's ability to understand, interpret, feel, absorb (etc etc) how our ancients felt about the world around them has been greatly polluted by more modern ideas and attitudes. Much of this pollution comes from control, both the desire to control and the desire to be controlled. The Church/Religion seen the niche and stepped in. Looking at ancient beliefs, traditions and outlooks, through the prism of how modern belief systems and religions work does not make sense to me. It is a mistake. Religion is like bottled spring water in my opinion. To expand this analogy, a spring is there and can be availed of for all to refresh themselves. It is for the local passing by or for the weary traveller and free to all. That is until somebody sees it as having a value and claims ownership of it. They brand it. Package it. Sell it. Resist your conditioning. Do not make these things, these beliefs, these traditions into a religion. Do not buy into 'paganism'. Experience it.
Shamanism never migrated to any of the Celtic or Nordic countries. Now there are some practices that are similar to shamanism in the Laplands. But anything the Celtic peoples had that could even remotely resemble shamanism has been gone for over a thousand years now. It's a broken ancestral memory and lineage. All they are doing now is been reconstructed which is a long process if you are trying to get it right historically speaking. A lot of new age gets mixed in along with traditions from other cultures where animism and paganism did survive. Nothing wrong with reconstructing and recreating something like this, but it is definitely NOT shamanism which comes from the Evenki people in Siberia and migrated into Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal, some parts of India and Asia, Hmong, Indonesia. Shamanism is not Celtic and never has been, and it is not Nordic, it never went to Peru, or Brazil, or the amazon jungle. It never came to America with the Native Americans as they came here before Shamanism ever existed.

Sure if we are fixating on terminology, the term never made it there. But the medicine men and tribal spiritual leaders were certainly fulfilling the role of "the shaman" in nearly identical ways to that of the Siberian/Mongolian. Not to mention if human migration are to be believed, the native Americans came from the asian countries, particularly the eastern countries that house the very people who created the identity of "shaman." Even if the term did not exist till _____ CE for whatever. the origins of "Shaman" have been in the practices of many pre-agricultural societies.

Humans are enclined to be either/or rather than and/both. It is possible to be Pagan; honor nature, and Christian honor Christ Consciousness.
