Never give up, never surrender
..."Oh shut up".
-Rest of the cast/crew in response to Jason...
...while running for their lives from the Blue-Alien-Gremlins-that-looked-like-children!
Are you Peppy Hare?
@@@lancer737
I might be peppy, but am most certainly not any kind of lagomorph.
+lancer737
Never give up! Trust your instincts!
I love galaxy quest.
It was a love letter to star trek before Orville
Alan Jolly Except it was actually funny, and not a dreadfully predictable ripoff of something else🙄
So true, Alen Jolly. I was hoping for a Galaxy Quest series for years. Orville fixed that need.
@@DrewLSsix
Galaxy quest will always be iconic
@@That80sGuy1972
😁👍
"By Grabthar's hammer........what a savings......"
Galaxy Quest is one of the most intelligent parodies ever made. I absolutely love everything about it.
Somewhere, out there, there's a real federation based off historical documents.
And the last star fighter!
let's hope they never get the STD documents, lol.
@@Zarcondeegrissom STD? Sexually transmitted diseases? Or does that mean something else?
lol, If only it was for Sexually transmitted diseases. Star Trek Discovery, or Disco not to be confused with the music genera, lol.
@@Zarcondeegrissom oh lol
By Grapthar's Hammer, By the Sons of Worvan, you shall be Avenged...
...what a savings
But the biggest question to all Sci fi ships.
Did it have a toilet?
It's a basic human function 😊
Actually, it has toilets Dr. Lazarus' species in the deleted scenes!
But(t) toilets for humans?... we'll have to get back to you on that chief.
@@gurney_3915
I never saw that lol
So basically everytime had to keep it in for a long time. Lol
"Ah but can it core an apple"
In the future, everyone has a poo disposal butt implant
Don't put me down for one of those lol
It was like a needle in my head for the entire time I was watching this video trying to figure out where I had seen that ship before, then I saw the death room and remembered Tim Allen, Galaxy Quest!
The best Sci-Fi parody ever on the big screen!
The chompers have an often missed other use, and that is to mystically make Sigourney Weaver scream "Oh screw that!" while it looks like she's screaming "Oh fuck that!".
Hmm... Frozen yogurt instead of gelato...
How many civilian families can they cram into this thing, cuz Starfleet is gonna have to whip up something fast to get me to come back to them.
Well, it was crewed by the entire remainder of the Thermian race, so...
It looks like the Child of the Enterprise and the Andromeda Ascending.
*"Andromeda Ascendant"
Yes, I am being a rarded nitpick that may have fallen for your joke, congrats if that's the case.
On the other hand, I like how you described the NSEA Protector!
I myself would not have thought to use that analogy.
But I want to ask a followup question...
"...Child of the Enterprise and the Andromeda..."
...which Enterprise?
There are currently Seven in cannon:
NX, Original Enterprise, Refit Enterprise, Enterprise A, Enterprise B, Enterprise C, Enterprise D, and Enterprise E
So: Thing that came before Constitution (Connie), Original Connie, Refit Connie that got blown up, Refit Connie again, Excelsior, Ambassador, Galaxy, and Sovereign.
@@gurney_3915 enterprise c.
And than this and voyager had the Orville
You missed the Enterprise G from Enterprise.
Thanks, I did not need to sleep tonight.
*HOW THE HELL DID I MANAGE TO IMAGINE THOSE 2 SHIPS HAVING SEX????*
02:42 BLAKE'S 7 called this gadget a teleporter, while in DR.WHO the same kinda thing is referred to as a trans-mat. Just sayin'. I'm told pretty much the entire cast and crew of FARSCAPE saw this movie over one weekend, coming back to work saying things like "By Grapthar's Hammer" and "Never give up, never surrender!"
You know i was being sarcastic...right?
@@LoreReloaded Yeah. Just sharing.
"Trans-meat"
Dr. Lazarus aka Alan Rickman...you shall be missed.
Well lore, you throw a blast from the past at me. But well done
I'm glad it was a one-off - just a fun little gem waiting to be discovered surrounded by others.
I kinda feel abit responsible for this after the Orville lore. That or its just a consequence.
Notice the Orville's design is rather similar.
"Don't open that, it's an alien planet! Is there air? YOU DON'T KNOW!"
still a better ship than Discovery.
Agreed...
And, that doesn't seem hard to be right now.
the funniest thing about this ship is what NTE on this ship stands for.
NTE Not The Enterprise. xD LOL.
So is Starbug.
I'm guessing that you have never seen the early concepts for Star Trek. Discovery is based off early concepts of the Constitution class Enterprise. Only part that isn't, I would say is the gap in the Saucer Section. Which I think was put in there just for the animation of the spore drive crap. Just saying that atleast the Discovery doesn't have as many weak points as the Constitution class does with its pylons and neck. But I do gotta say the whole story line and what the races look like have been completely completely wrong in the Discovery Series. Especially with CBS stealing the Spore Drive idea from a video game. Speaking of which I need to see if there's any new updates about that lawsuit.
Galaxyquest could have had a Mirror Darkly ending and the world would then be ruled by Tim Allen.
In the mirror version Tim Allen didn't work for Disney so most of the dark humor and dirty jokes didn't end up on the cutting room floor.
That ship was the coolest thing to me as a kid.
Galaxy quest is my second favorite star trek movie
@@robinhyperlord9053 search your feelings. You know it to be true.
No gelato? Frozen yogurt can’t make up for that!
LMAO. I would have never thought there was that much information on it out there. Keep up the good work. 🖖
Kudos for having an omnidirectional reaction drive system that makes sense and is not sporting a "shoot me first" location on the vessel.
Pure. Awesomeness.
Bit of a guilty pleasure this ship! Really like the lines and angles of this ship design!
RIP Alan Rickman. Great coverage of the ship. I was just thinking about similar peculiarities with the Intrepid from John Scalzi's novel Redshirts. Worth a read if you haven't, and the audiobook is narrated by Wil Wheaton.
AWESOME! You, sir, are the coolest. (And so is the Patron who picked this).
Love it!
I love how this channel can go from bashing the Scimitar to unironically discussing the Protector.
There was space in between but im a mixed bag..ill grant
Interesting that you took the view of the Galaxy Quest "TV show" rather than what the thermians actually built.
What we really need to know is, does the ship have some sort of rudimentary lathe?
Wasn't there a spinny thing in the chopper room sequence? Probably just an automated CnC machine that got infected by an alien computer virus or something.
Never noticed the aztecing on the hull...
Love your serious humor
Am I the only one who thinks it would be cool if this is what ships looked like in Orville a hundred years ago or so? Or maybe a hundred years later, since the Protector has transporters.
I love this show and ship.
"Plasma-Armour .... "
Yeah, that is armour. Armour is a fixed substance that withstands hits until depletion.
Star Trek Starfleet Ablative armour works very similarly: it burns off from hits until it is depleted.
Looks like a Boing that got it´s wings into a hair curler and stubbed it´s nose on a rock.
I like it.
Cool.
2:37 I see Cronenberg designed it.
In some decks you walk on a plank in an area where you could fall in bottomless pit
I believe the alternative name you were looking for instead of Transporter was teleportation device. LOL. But yeah, basically it's a transporter.
I did like the color sceme they used for this movie. I don't know think there was anything like it at the time.
I want more Galaxy Quest!
Any chance of getting a video on the GTVA Colossus
I think its a great little ship.
Just a heads up, but the ship was built on speculative data from second-hand sources, so the override timer was never shown to stop on anything but one, so the builders thought that the override kicked in on one. It was a mistake, not a planned effort to thin the crew in any way.
Yea, no.. I got the joke..
The plasma armor is more like ablative shielding as it protects the ship via energy dissipation. It wears away at the shielding rather than the hull sort of like how ablative armor is designed to burn away thus dissipating heat to mitigate the thermal damage to the main hull. It would be interesting to explore this technology via a format that takes itself just a little bit more seriously in order to tell a better story.
"To Infinity... and Beyond!"
Oh look its the real Star Trek 11.
Ah, my favorite Star Trek movie.
what about a vid on about Starbug off Red Dwarf ?
It may be a parody of the original Enterprise, but it's still a very pretty ship.
I love Galaxy Quest,it always made me wonder how the Star Trek TOS crew would be able to control the Enterprise, also I always thought Seth MacFarlane got his idea for The Orville from this very film.
NSEA Protector: what happens if you try to build a ship with all the drama points as design features because they were in the reference material.
Perfect sense of humor.
I thought this ship was legit cool looking as a kid, and I don't hate it to this day
Quantum!
Professor Severus Snape's ship... Wait... What?
One of my favorite scene from that whole movie was when Sigourney Weaver was yell about the crusher, wondering if the writers were crazy. Well, that in the one guy making out with the squid girl.
Haha! Made me laugh
What happened to the sound at 3:34
But can we get a Starship Lore on the Gunstar from the last starfighter?
Great looking ship better looking than the discovery
you will save us
Who would win in a Death Battle?
The Protector of the Enterprise NCC 1701?
I figured you'd have mentioned at the end that the original ship was a model and the actual ship were made by hyper advanced aliens with no concept of deception and so recreated the ship from the "historical documents" of the show.
Otherwise you're stuck going into the lore of the tv show rather than the real ship and it's real world capabilities. Being powered by the beryllium spheres. The command crew being nearly entirely human, with the rest of the crew being all that remains of the Thermarian race who created the ship.
I would like this ship to fight against a star wars destroyer.
Don't know what else to call it than a "transporter"?
May I suggest "teleporter" or "apport device"?
You could also go with "transmat" or "translocator".
Isn't "transporter" more commonly used to refer to certain types of vehicles? It's an umbrella term that also covers teleporters, so you can call it a "transporter" if you insist.
Do you not...get the joke?
Was space battle ship yomatto done?
Space Dock did it yesterday.
But does it have a pub?
I can find no pictures of the bridge how did you find one?
Oh the ship? It's in the movie?
@@LoreReloaded I didn't know there was a movie i'll check it out.
At least it isn't the Scimitar.
When you say an expansion on the Galaxy Quest universe could be interesting. Do you mean Galaxy Quest the fictional tv series, set in a fictional future of a fictional alternate Earth. Or do you mean what happened after the film when all this advanced tech crash-lands at a Quester(?) convention?
Oh, we are getting him to do any random spceships now... here's hoping for the astro megaship from power rangers in space.
Ive always offered, and have done, non trek ships
@@LoreReloaded Was just making a joke, sir. Always amazed when a creator replies to one of my comments. Thank you Alpha-Lore Master!
@@KRSeriphem sure..i wasnt mad and try to respond when i can :) i never can tell when someone is teasing alot anymore so i generally take it real.
@@LoreReloaded the issues with intent through print is a real. I try never to antagonize a creator for their work or opinions in a video that they took their own time and effort to create. Looking forward to next video.
NSEA Protector and Orville episode crossover.
Nooooo, I can’t survive without my gelato machine, I don’t like frozen yogurt
What show or movie is this from
Galaxy quest movie
Do one on "the flight of the navigator" ship. I can't remember the name of the ship right now sorry.
isn't it called the navigator
@@ReddwarfIV no clue but it's a cool ship. Equal parts TARDIS and liquid metal Terminator nice ship.
Trimaxian drone ship.
NTE in NTE3120 stands for Not The Enterprise.
Thats cool
I wish they made anthor movie
The spoof movie had an awesome alien culture that mimicked their "Star Trek" in every way... and made it work. I would have loved a series or sequels from Galaxy Quest. I see why they didn't. A series and-or sequels would have ruined it.
For a second there i thought i heard mach 15.
No mention of the single Brillium Sphere power supply. Sad
NTE - Not the Enterprise
The word you're looking for is "Teleporter"
Niet
"Niet?" Wazzat?
If only I had money to give
I still take requess and put them on a list of things to get to ;)
@@LoreReloaded could you possibly make a video on why many sci fi universes dont have any ground combat and I want to support this channel cause your awsome my dude
@@owlwaifu4949 most actually do it is just that they are either not very good at it or don't have the effects budget to depict it...
@@26th_Primarch but why not star trek?
@@owlwaifu4949 Well the effects budget in the original series was limited to the point that the heaviest armaments shown was the phaser rifle and the one-off appearance of a proton/ photon mortar in the episode where Kirk fights the Gorn Captain 1v1...
Fasa Trek showed concept art of small artillery like phaser cannons right before TNG was released and Gene Roddenberry stated he didn't want the Federation and Starfleet to be a warmongering faction... (*cough, irony, cough*)
“The non-transporter transporter converts you into encrypted WiFi packets and sends you over distances to other ships or planets.”
Sorry man, that’s the only other way I could think of as well to help you out. I hope it helps. Lol
Enterprise F ?
Huh. I wonder which universe this is from
Its one of the star trek spin off hero ships
Roger that, thank you for your input folks
I'm sorry, I thought you were just pulling my leg! It's from the movie Galaxy Quest - joking aside.
+Lore Reloaded
All good here. If anything, I thoroughly enjoy when you make some remarks on the ridiculousness of stuff. Case and point, the non transporter... Uh... Moving device on board the ship in this video. I mean, if it were a transporter, someone might accuse them of taking ideas straight out of Star Trek! Luckily it is not a transporter and therefore clearly has no inspirations from the Star Trek universe.
Gelato isn't dakka!
NTE - 3120 NSEA Protector. NTE - Not The Enterprise.
LMAO
Um, you do realize that a shield is a piece of armour, right? Shields *are* armour. Though, not to be confused with armour plating.
I'm more surprised that a frenchman would know anything about the art of war..
No audio lore master
Everyone else appears to be able to hear it and it plays for me?
@@LoreReloaded ah nvm , got it to work after opening and closing the video
Ugh, gotta love youtube.
STILL BETTER THAN
ATROCITY : DISCOVERY
Should have waited for April Fools to do this one.
Why so?
Galaxy Quest is better than discovery
If you didn't want to say transporter, why not just say teleporter? You heavily emphasise that there is an issue naming the technology and in term imply that by calling it a transporter it shows how Galaxy Quest is plagiarising Star Trek, but transporters (in concept and in name) have been used in science fiction long before Star Trek made it a central technology - the list on Wikipedia giving examples is quite interesting.
On a personal level, your joke on how the command centre separates just so it can be crashed fell a bit flat. Just because the inexperienced actors piloting it in Galaxy Quest crashed it doesn't mean that it's not a valid design to be used as a life boat, or just an alternative version of a captains yacht. It would have been funny if you'd said they separated the command centre only to crash it in their incompetence. Like Deanna Troi did with the saucer section on the Enterprise D.
Do you..do you think i seriously had an issue with calling it a transporter?
Lore Reloaded - Not at all! Your videos have a great dry sense of humour and I appreciate that. I watched the video twice before commenting and I think that part stood out because you skim quite quickly over the ship review until the transporter joke, the time spent on it in comparison to the rest of the video made it stick out to me. I thought you'd have spent more time on the ridiculous Chompers...
