You only cut through the nylon coating you didn't get to the stainless steel that runs through it

I use the version with the combination lock because the key is easily lost or bent, as you say. The use case is opportunist thieves without tools who would otherwise simply roll the bike away, e.g. drunks or party-goers who don't want to walk home, drug addicts etc. It should at least be able to withstand being plucked open by forcefully pushing the bike forward. That should be tested. But I suspect that it will open up quicker than you would like.
Unfortunately, the combination lock is of mediocre quality. After a few months of very infrequent use, the number code on the middle wheel had been changed by 1 in order to get the lock open again. I've read this from others too. The numbers are also difficult to read.

I thought of getting one of these.. but hesitated because it looks quite easy to pick the lock using a paperclip or 2 toothpicks. A pity coz they look really lightweight and easy to carry.

Looking like a stronger tiewrap..more like locking Wheel to frame etc or indeed more like locking loose parts as the raincover of a Cargo bike..to prevent quick thefts

These are for quick pit stops: Running in to ATM, donut/coffee shop, etc...
They are merely a companion to your larger lock.

got the version with a code, use case: attaching my folding bike to the rack at the end of the train wagon, or secure a helmet, but not for securing outside

The keys costs like £2, so any thief could just go by one, especially a thief based in the UK... Bike thieves in other countries could also buy one, but less likely due to shipping costs.

When you say if a thief has the universal key part they can break into any of them. What exactly do you mean ? If a thief has the universal kep part and approches a locked z lock, how will it help him ?

The key is the same for every lock - they can just unlock it directly

I don't think they're meant to secure a bike, but a helmet or bags. They're great to secure bags so that someone can"t still them while you're waiting at a red light or to prevent opportunistic thieves while remaining fast to unlock. That would be their main use and they do the job decently. It's no use to install good locks on bags : if's easy to cut the part of the bag that is attached anyway. They're actually probably more resistant than Ortlieb cable lock for their bags.

They make these things so small I can't see these even being OK for use as a secondary for the front wheel. Probably it wouldn't even secure the wheel to the frame. Maybe on a pure road bike where it's a smaller length.

    😢
    How disappointing
Couldn’t have they made it out of some bendable durable metal !? And charge 3-4-5 times the price…
Is basically a zip tie that you can “unlock” w a “key” 😏 and reuse. Ridiculous idea to trust it to “secure” something
    Great review.
