    Bought this for my friend for his birthday, and he loves it. Father-in-law was a little jealous, even. :) Built solid, but light enough to move around for projects. Easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe and makes great precision cuts. Doesn't come with a laser mount, but the fence is straight as an arrow and if you measure carefully, it's not a problem. Can handle dimensional lumber with ease, but of course, there's a limit to how thick. Handled a 4x4" post without a problem, but 4x6" we had to flip and cut twice. Only thing we've noticed is make sure to tighten the nut that holds the saw blade when you take it out of the box and maybe check up on it occasionally. For some, this is probably a no-brainer, but we neglected to do this and a few months in, found the motor running but the blade spinning at about half speed or less. Tightened the nut, and problem was solved. Very happy with this purchase. Dewalt makes sturdy stuff.

    This is by far the most practical workbench I’ve seen for miter saw and tablesaw. There are a lot of great builds on UA-cam but most people they’re just too much. This keeps it very simple And efficient. Good job

    As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

    Nifty idea. Seems like you do a good job of changing your strategy as necessary throughout your workflow. Sometimes I watch people build stuff and it seems like they've got the whole master plan figured out in every detail before they make their first cut and it makes me feel like I'm missing something. Watching you adjust on the fly makes me feel like I'm not the only one.

      Thank you! Yes, I rarely use plans so it’s tough to see every problem I might run into. I like to share my experiences as they happen. Maybe that will keep others from making the same mistakes

    ive watched 10 videos of this design of workbench., i moved into a house with a garage this year in scotland UK and want to build it. trouble is, ive collected that much scrap wood and joiners offcuts is that i have no room to build it. hahahah., its shit weather too so dont want to leave it outside on the grass for months. i think ile build it on the drive way. i cant wait to get it built. nice to see the slider feature. i actaully kept some from old drawers i took from a customer for one day using them for something.,and now i know. bcoz of your design . haha. thankyou. ps one more thing you can add to this workbench, if you add plyboard to the bottom, say 12inches up, is a thicknesser. and a router mounted on the underside of the top board.

    I have been watching every video like this but I had one problem with all of them. I released the best way to do it is to make the miter saw slide out. I didn't won't to make it swing down, to much trouble especially when you are going back and forth from one to another. And low and behold this video pops up exactly what I was planning to do. My miter saw isn't as big as the one in the video so it will actually work out better. To me this is the best design I have seen

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  3 роки тому +4

      Yeah, I didn’t want it to flip or anything. It seems like a hassle. I had some drawer slides laying around so I thought I’d try it.

    • @jerrytrejo9375
      @jerrytrejo9375 Рік тому

      Question: drawer slides aren’t usually so strong and sturdy to hold properly any miter saw especially the heavier ones, how have you been dealing with this?
      Are there any really strong heavy duty ones to use here?

    Hmm, the sliding miter is an interesting idea! Going to start a bench this weekend with a dewalt miter + table saw as well, though I'm likely leaning to having it a bit wider and an outfeed table that flaps up at the back for the table saw.

      Did almost the same workbench in lockdown-1. My miter-saw is a bit smaller, so put it on a movable shelf. It slides into a lower position, put a lid on, and I have a clean table-top. Also added a cyclone-vac from an old vac and some plastic buckets and plumbing joints. No more sawdust everywhere (well less), and no bags needed anymore.
      Anyway - great vid - I recommend this project to anyone.

    Great work man. Not to come off as a know it all, just a couple pieces of friendly advice. 1. When using a nail gun, if you can, nail it so there is wood on the left and right of the head. At 9:29 that nail went right through your brace, nails naturally want to move either left or right, so making sure you’re “head on” with your gun will limit instances of nails protruding from the side of your work. 2. Watch your hands when your nailing 3. If you make a simple circular saw cutting guide (glue a square piece of wood your choice in length on a thinning piece of wood like 1/4 inch ply) you’ll get straight cuts every time)

    • @DIYMAN

    Really love this work bench. Would you mind sending the measurements for it please? I know you mentioned them in the video. But I feel it be easier if I have it written down. Thank you sir.

    I see enough room for a dust collection set up
    & I think the miter saw needs a couple fold up/ down extensions on the ends of the table top for long pieces
    All & all I like your design
    I will build mine like yours
    Good job.

      Yes, there’s definitely room for some dust collection. That would be a nice addition! Thanks!

    Love the idea I was try to figure out if I could us this type of design for my miter saw and small plainer. Wanted to add some rollers to help the wood move when using the plainer. Any ideas?

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  2 роки тому +1

      Nice! I’ve been brainstorming a little bit on it. You could make your own rollers with large dowel rods. That might be kinda fun to make something like that

    Kinda fun if instead of drawer pulls, have appliance drop down leavers so the saw hides away. Nice vid and instruction

    Really great idea ,I sure want one. Wish you had showed how you stopped it rolling around ,I'm also guessing that there is a lock to stop the draw slides from sliding out.

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  2 роки тому +1

      I actually didn’t lock the wheels down. They’re older casters so they don’t move super easy. It really doesn’t move around on me unless I’m trying to cut a giant piece of plywood or something. I also didn’t lock the drawer slides in. A little bit of saw dust on them keeps them from moving too easily, but it still pulls out without too much work

    Love the bench, man. That slide is a great idea. Have to say, though, please be more careful with the nail gun. I've had several close calls when a nail took different route and popped out of the end or blew straight through. Watched you stand in front of or had your hand in front of the nailer and I winced every time. Not hating. Just don't want to see you get hurt. Great work!

      Great point. I had a side blow out or two while holding the wood in place with a lot of blood involved. It has taught me to respect where my hands are before I pull the trigger.

    I love the sliding miter saw feature. Only thing I’d be worried about is all the dust eventually getting caked into those ball bearing slides. They will probably get gunked up and need to be cleaned or replaced. I’m going to be building a bench similar to this soon that will house my Dewalt Miter and Table Saws so this gave me some good ideas.

    • @DIYMAN

      Thanks man! It has gotten a little stiff, but it still slides when I need it to. I like it a little stiff so it doesn’t slide too easily when I use my saw.
