- A great portable antenna for the amateur 6m (50 to 54 MHz) band. Supports. emergency and field communications easily. Encourage your friends to build the same antenna and be amazed at how well "horizontal to horizontal" communications works. Stop using that EFW on 6m. This is much better.

Nice video. In your list of materials, I think you mean BNC female adapter. In the video that is what you have on the loop. I might try the diamond shape. Thanks again de AD0L
Tried builidng this one using the dimensions and design. It was a pretty narrowband antenna - and very sensitive to height in terms of resonance. So it didn't meet my needs - but the criticality of dimensions could have been an issue for me. I appreciated the discussion and the video.
👍Thanks for video.
What if you want this antenna to be vertically polarized?
going to give it try for POTA! WB2SMK
Do you know what the difference in performance would be if you made it as a delta loop versus a square loop?
The feed point and mounting arrangement would need to change. If a square loop is fed at the corner, it would be close to 50 ohm and each side would be close to 18 feet, so would need to be mounted like a diamond shape if using one center support and some spreader between the two far points horizontally. Feeding the loop at the side would give it different polarization compared to top or bottom. For radiation related performance, it depends how high off the ground it would be (if we are sticking with 20m operation). It may work slightly better due to capture area but then this is a different type of antenna that takes up a bit more room. Nice user name btw. :)
@@hvdnmedia IIRC, the Delta Loop is about 200 ohms at the feedpoint. So another benefit would be that with the square loop you don't need any sort of unun or matching network.
