    Congress is cutting covid funding from the upcoming budget! This is very upsetting. Researchers need this funding!! Millions are effected and lives are being ruined. This research will also help find cures or treatments for ME/CFS which has been ignored for years. So upsetting. My life has been turned upside down. This is so upsetting. We need government help!

    In March 2020 Diana (Berrent) Güthe started the Survivor Corps Facebook group which steadily grew as covid survivors shared their stories. On 7/25/20, Indiana University School of Medicine in conjunction with @survivorcorps released a report titled “COVID-19 “Long Hauler” Symptoms Survey Report”. In November 2020, @60minutes did a story on covid “long haulers”. Dr. Mary Fowkes, Head of Autopsy and neuropathology at Mount Sinai said they discovered widespread damage across many organs which they think was in part due to the immune response. What they didn’t expect was finding microscopic blood clots in the lungs, heart, liver and brain.

      In long COVid cases it depends. During My first 2 years with it I went through 2 flights of stairs and I was bedridden one day and tired as if I had run the marathon for 4 or 5 days. Now I can walk no problem but running over 3 or 4 minutes would leave me breathless at least the rest of the day

      @@shaf60 so what I meant is that now after 3 years of long COVID I am able to walk longer distances, but not run for over 3 minutes because I as tired as running the NYC marathon. If I'm late for the train and I have to rush to the station I get exhausted and the exhaustion lasts about 3 or 4 hours now. 2 years ago going up the stairs would mean exhaustion. In fact, for long COVID the worse you can do is exercise. It makes it last even longer (and it's what I did right after I thought COVID had left me ... I started exercising, and that's when I realized I was exhausted and couldn't breathe

      That sounds great but when I walk more than 25 feet my heart rate goes up and my blood pressure bottoms out. I have to stop until my blood pressure goes up again. Before I got Covid I was a scuba diver. I walked every single day at least 10,000 steps and I was a disaster manager on large scale disasters so I was very busy. Now a good day is being able to fix a meal for myself and take a shower or perhaps do one other task. I am on oxygen and I also have to use a CPAP something I have never had to do before.

      Hope you're better now. Please take care. One more time could be your long COVID time. If you're young believe me that a long life with long COVID isn't nice. This 2024 will be my 4th year. Symptoms come far between (every 2 or 3 months) and are mild now. Except for the heir loss that started in August and stopped in November. I always wear s mask in closed spaces, busses, supermarkets, meetings, and limit my exposure to crowded restaurants (once every 2 or 3 months). Life is such s great gift that even with a mask and being careful is worth living healthily. I don't mind looking weird to others, if I get sick they're not gonna be at my bedside.

    Are you familiar with Chris Palmer? He's a medical doctor looking at mitochondria levels in treating mental illness where traditional pharmaceutical intervention isn't efficacious. Dr. Li mentioned mitochondria and I immediately thought about this. Has anyone looked at the diet recommendations Dr. Palmer makes to his patients to affect mitochondria levels and use that as a way to start mitigating the affects of long Covid? I figured it was a worthwhile question. Thanks! .

    post-viral chronic illness is something that's been well-known w other viruses... I don't think this is a threat to the majority of people, but there will be some percentage of people who don't do well with the post-viral effects of covid infection.

      @MrRicardobotti 9 місяців тому +3

      Yes there is a percentage of people that are more prone to get post-viral effect. The fact is that, it's an age range and the worst thing is that we're all walking towards that age range, and we will have to deal with everything old people del with before covid, PLUS covid. Our chances of getting long covid increases with age. Should we just resign to add one more way to be sick and die?
