Realistically, how hard would it be for a white UK/IRE citizen who speaks fluent standardized English, has an HR background in work and secondary/college education (but no degree or/and bachelor) to work in the US or Canada without legal paperwork/visas? Do the so-called "Sanctuary" cities actually work in 2019/2020 for all undocumented, not just the Mexicans?

The whole meaning of a sanctuary city is that the police if you encounter it won't report you to the ICE. But even if you're white your accent may give you out. And how can you receive a paycheck without a SSN?

But the nature of those jobs would be very limited. If you want to have a bank account, buy property, have normal job, get loans you need some sort of SSN.

I'm willing to admit that our immigration laws need reform. That doesn't mean people should break the law until it gets changed to something that better suits them. This, seems to me, to be common sense. Somehow, this gets conflated with racism or, at the very least, having an anti-immigrant stance. No one here gets to choose to follow only the laws they approve of. Why on earth does anyone think that should be ok, in any circumstance, let alone by people who aren't even citizens? I seem to be scratching my head an awful lot these days. I think I'm getting a bald spot.

The complicating factor is that many are breaking the law out of survival. They aren't just breaking the law out of convenience or for things which harm themselves or others (like stealing for drugs or murder). So that's a big difference which complicates your rationalization.

You're right. That's why immigration is a touchy subject. Undocumented immigrants want to obey the law, but current pathways simply don't allow them to "get in line". Because there is no line at all. Employment-based immigration usually takes years, commonly a decade, to achieve, and tens of thousands of dollars. You're hearing right, tens of thousands dollars. Being an international student finishing the university here in the US can easily become a $200,000 experience, and the later H1B and EB2 and EB3 immigration only takes place after you have "lawfully" finished your degree in the US. This whole process takes place in about 10 years to finally obtain a green card. I haven't mentioned how hard it is getting a H1B, it's not merit-based. It's probability-based. Google H1B lottery.
The only option should be to come here legally. Because we keep letting this go on our economy is failing and the crime rates are going up.
Why can other countries take these people in. My family was born in America generation. I'm not a person of immigrants. It's more than just seeking asylum. I been a dreamer, I want a family and marriage and kids, good paying job. It's millions of Americans that have bills that were born here, if they get free training they can do the jobs as well. Our congress need to fix this.
Maybe just present the facts without painting them as bad or hard or anything of that sort. How many individuals should we allow in a year? How many from each country? Why? How much tax welfare should we provide? Who is going to process this? The same people complaining about CBP, ICE and USCIS want more people allowed. Who's going to to process these individuals?? Are we going to just allow anyone in? Are these individuals going to require government healthcare, welfare, housing, etc.?

Its very difficult to become a US citizen. Usually years, sometimes decades. Tens of thousands of dollars. And that’s if you qualify, and if you are approved. Very strict, and often subjective, judging of the applicant. It’s much easier said than done.

I still don’t get the Asylum visa. Back in 2006 my dad tried to apply for it but was rejected every time. If I remember correctly on what he said, was that he was friends unknowingly with a guy that was part of a gang. One day when they went out to a party together the guys rival gang pulled up and started a a whole fight in which my dad was caught in the middle of. It wasn’t a normal fight where it’s fist fight oh no it was a full blown gun or knife fight. It didn’t matter if you weren’t a part of any gang but if you were even close to anyone in their gang you’d be considered a target. But in this confrontation my dad got stacked twice on the side of his stomach. He stopped being friends with this person but it didn’t change a thing cause a few months later when he was out shopping one people in the gang recognized him and called a few others to assault my dad and again beat him to the point that his stitched up side was reopened. So my dad tried to apply for asylum with so much proof on what was going on with the bruises and stab wounds on his side he was denied. this was around when I was like 5-6 years old so he knew this couldn’t keep going on otherwise it could drag both my mom and myself into it and he’d fear the worse which caused him to resort to his only choice which was to illegally cross over to the US. Idk if it’s possible for him to apply again now that it’s been years since it happened he doesn’t know if he can reapply for asylum but is it worth it?

I remembered when I was a kid living in Oregon picking strawberries and green beans. This was back in the early seventies. They would load a bunch of us kids in the school bus to work out in the hot fields all day. We went out there because we came from poor familes who couldn't afford school clothes. Those summer jobs helped so much. Don't think just because it is a field job that an American wouldn't do it

No, not unless you have reason that you can’t be deported, you have family here in the US that are citizens. It is simply just hard to get it, I know someone who has waited almost 2 years to get one. They have been here since they were 3, and are 18. Yet they don’t qualify for a lot of things.

However, Illegal Aliens are persons that enter another country without permission. They are considered criminals because they broke that country's laws. Most illegal aliens hide within the country to evade the law, so as to keep from getting deported back to their home country. So you see, there is definitely a difference between "Immigrants" and "Illegal Aliens".
