Your mention of shepherds in the video reminded me of something from church yesterday. We had a presentation on shepherds, and it struck me how simple and unglamorous their role was. They spent weeks out in the fields, unable to bathe or care for themselves properly. During the discussion, the term shepherd boy came up. I learned it’s because if an adult was a shepherd, it was seen as a sign of failure. It wasn’t a job anyone wanted or would brag about. But here’s what I find so beautiful-these were the people God chose to announce Jesus’ birth to. Not kings or rulers, not the rich or powerful, but shepherds, the lowest in society at the time. It says so much about who Jesus came for. Not just the elite, but all of us, especially those who are humble and overlooked. Thank you again for today’s video. It reminded me of the courage and humility we are all called to embrace.
I just love you! Living your real life with us. We’re having a coffee, listening to this amazing message and we get to hear your Momma call you. That’s a gift for you. Your share within your real life! ❤❤❤
I love this message . Trade fear for joy! Your ability to keep right on track even after being interupted is an impressive skill, and I felt gifted to observe that. Your authenticity is something I would much like to imitate in my life.
Thank you for your faithfulness, John. I'm taking action because of Emmanuel. I'm trading my great fear for joy - full abundant overflowing joy that Christ died for me to have! I'm going to have the conversations. I'm going on. I'm going through. I'm asking the Lord what's next with great expectations. Shalom. Emmanuel. 🎉
Good morning ☀️ Yay! Oh man Yes Lord have it (my fears) all. Best deal in town, fear for great joy. What a precious gift to give & better as a recipient 🙏🏻💕🍃
I have had the privilege and honor of reading Luke 2:7 at several Church Christmas services. When I read this passage, I try to communicate two feelings. First, the fact and vulnerability of a teenage girl giving birth to her first child. Second, the tenderness and love of this moment as this inexperienced mother cares for her helpless baby by wrapping Him tightly in swaddling cloths, like a papoose, to comfort Him, and then lays Him in a manger filled with straw. I have seen hearts melt, like mine, as I read this passage.
Hi John and Tim, Many thanks for explaining these verses so eloquently....So enlightening and a different view point completely....Great...Just great... Love it...More power to your exposition...Peace... Kind regards,..Arnold. (UK). 😆🙏❄☃
The fear...I have "burned the ships" between my old life and a new life, and I've been seeking direction for that life but over the weekend, my knee decided to go on strike - so it looks like part of "new life" involves medical bills. I know that becoming healthier is one of the changes I want (and need) to make, as is finding a job that I will like, that will let me help others, and that will ease my financial situation. Fear is a "spider" that looks the size of a house standing between me and these things.
Great message of hope and joy, thank you John. When it comes down to it, the shepherds were really the lucky ones, because they saw it all, the heavenly hosts and our lord in form of a child, they were there. I don’t really care if the translation or the meaning of Luke was, that Jesus was born in a barn, cave, lower level house or whatever. Maybe the small town was full to the last place, and Jesus was born in a barn, we don’t know. There are historians, scientists, and other smart people even saying that Jesus wasn’t born at that time of the year, because shepherds at that time of the year wouldn’t be out in the field. Others say that Jesus probably was born in Nazareth and not in Bethlehem, and there is the virgin birth, on and on and on. At the end of the day we can argue, debate and speculate from Adam and Eve to the Revelation on no end. What does it make for a difference if I believe he was born in a barn or cave? It doesn’t! Jesus birth was a miracle, God in human form, to save us and the earth from everlasting damnation. And yes, according to my intensive scientific research and study of the Bethlehem city plans of the year 0, taking in account of all the facts and possibilities, I came to the conclusion that he was probably born in a barn, prove me otherwise. Merry Christmas and peace to all. Keep up the great work John, you are a great blessing to many of us.
