Orthodoxy blown out, how will they recover?
If the Orthodox say there is no universal jurisdiction? Has anybody told that to the Patriarch of Moscow?
That is why a schism is brewing between Moscow and Constantinople.
This is why quote mining is so dangerous. Once the historical context is realized it could backfire on you. You guys did a great job here 👏
Quote mining produces fool's gold.
Who is 'you'? I see no orthodox there. It's an imaginary orthodox you invaded to put words in his imaginary mouth and claim a victory after reciting you prerecorded 'debate'.
You people are insane.
Lord have mercy
Of course my comment was not published so I will insist. This was a straw man. No orthodox made a quote, only an imaginary Orthodox who made an imaginary quote in an imaginary debate that took place in the imagiation of two Roman Catholics. The usual tactics used by Rome to present only their point of viewsince 1054.
@@Hope_Boat You didn't watch the video, right? The quote is there, the quote is real, factual history. And that's an actual argument some orthodox brothers use. Granted, perhaps not all orthodox use it, but some do. Which is the whole point.
@@GranMaese you didn't want to understand my point right?
No orthodox was invited to debate as always. Straw man tactics. You find some guy who said something sometime you think you can debunk and you beat the bit out of it pretending you won a debate you are too coward to set for real. That's what happened.
The universal bishop accusation is a misnomer since it would mean a sole bishop for everyone. That's not the case of the pope. He is a bishop of a diocese (Rome) like any other bishop BUT with universal authority. The phrase Urbi et orbi depicts it clearly: urbi is for Rome, his diocese, and orbi is for the world, universal.

Hello everyone, who's .in London?
St Peter received the KEYS of the Kingdom and he was called to feed the lambs (the people so all Christians) and the sheeps (the elders so the clergy) of Jesus... From the Acts we also know that if an Apostle is no longer alive (as it was the case for Juda), the scriptures says about that: "Reduce his encampment to ruin and leave his tent unoccupied. And again: Let someone else take over his office"... There you go... This is biblical... Peter had the authority and when he died he had to be replaced, and so on until Pope Francis...
100% correct!

@@CatholicTruthOfficialThe orthodox says one can pull a soul out of hell and be saved through prayer rope.
When asked about it they say the righteous soul will go to heaven to be with christ and the unrighteous soul will go to hell. They say they can be released through the prayers of the church according to the teaching of the orthodox church and the teaching of the fathers. This applies not to the wicked but to the righteous who departed with some sins. They also point out a video testimony of elder ephraims father on youtube who was pulled out of hell and was saved.
Digging deep one of them said it is not hell it was only hades which is a temporary holding place pointing to revelation chapter 20 both the wicked and the hades will be thrown into the lake of fire.
According to them hades or hell is not a purifying place of soul but the unrighteous soul can enter heaven without purification of sins through prayer rope.

The papacy is real. It's a ecclesiastical development. It's not dominical as we know it. That being said it can be a valid and useful office in the universal church. The new testament says Peter is the chief of Jewish Christian people. Paul is the chief of the non Jewish Christian people. It's in the Bible.
That's not really accurate or in the bible. Paul was sent to the Gentiles but he never said he was chief of the gentiles. Peter is chief of the whole Universal Church because he received the Keys of the Kingdom from Jesus

Perhaps it's important to point out that there wasn't just the one apostle Peter, but that there were still 12 apostles, including Peter. The other apostles still had a function even if Peter was the one who Jesus said was the Rock upon which the Church should be built. Just as Peter can be dismissed as less important than he was, Peter can be elevated to a higher position than he had. The balance is where the truth is found.
True, and the other apostles did also receive the power to bind and loose, but only one received the keys, a la Eliakim, and that was Saint Peter, who was recognized as the prince of the apostles long before the schism.

Papacy is the projection of shamanism into Christianity. In the same way that Tibetan Buddhism believes that the high priest is a reincarnated earthly form of the divine being, Catholicism believes that the pope is the “Vicar of Christ.” Furthermore, the Pope is believed to have powers that do not belong to mere mortals, such as being in charge of the treasury of merit and deciding who is to be pardoned in the purgatory. In other words, the Pope is regarded as the reincarnation of Christ.
‘The pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ Himself, hidden under the veil of the flesh. Does the pope speak? It is Jesus Christ who speaks. Does the pope accord a favour or pronounce an anathema? It is Jesus Christ who accords the favour or pronounces that anathema. So that when the pope speaks we have no business to examine.’ - Pope ‘St.’ Pius X, when he was ‘Patriarch’ of Venice; quoted in the July 13, 1895 issue of “The Catholic National (Catholique Nationale)”, Paris, France, Benziger Brothers Publishing.

You can always count on these two to misrepresent holy orthodoxy.
Only the ones that have opposed the One and ONLY Catholic Church founded by Jesus Christ and the Apostles in 33A.D. St. Ignatius of Antioch first used the Greek word; "Katolicós" to describe the Catholic Church in 107A.D. In 313A.D, Emperor Constantine issued the Edict of Milan to STOP the persecution of the Catholic Church! In 380A.D, Emperor Theodosius OFICIALLY DECLARED The Catholic Church as that of Rome! In 1054A.D, The Orthodox Church began when they separated from Rome! The Bible contains TWO Epistles from the First Pope; PETER, And, if it wasn't for POPE Damasus in 382A.D, The Orthodox and the other 70,000 False, Man Made, Reformed, Heretical, Protestant, Religions and Churches would NOT have a Bible to disagree with each other!

The bishop of Rome is the pope. Peter was the only one who received the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, giving him a primacy of authority over the church. Infallibility was taught in the early church Orthodox accept. They just don't know history. Just like Protestants.

@@WilliamFlemming-gk3cn
Jesus's word is good enough for me.
Yes, there is no Pope.
Jesus is the Rock (Sela, Petra) that the Church is built on. Apostles are the foundation stones.
The apostles are not stones. It’s the doctrine Jesus gave to PETER TO PREACH
ITS NOT A MAN. GOD WORD IS THE STONE
There is a pope. Always has been. In Mt. 16:18-19, Jesus makes Peter the head of the church and calls him the rock. He even changes his name from Simon to Peter, which means rock. He even calls him the rock at other times as well (Jn. 1:42 - Cephas means Rock).
Jesus traveled with the apostles hundreds of miles to Cesarea Philippi where there is a huge 500 foot rock. That is the exact spot that Jesus changed Simon's name to Rock.
Name changes are significant in Scripture. When Jesus changes his name from Simon to Peter, it symbolizes a change in status and a change in mission (like Abram to Abraham and Issac to Israel, etc). Peter was receiving a special call to be the head of the church which is why he alone singularly received the keys of the kingdom alone. The keys come from Isaiah 22 and symbolize the primacy of authority over the whole household of God.
We agree Jesus is the ultimate rock, cornerstone and foundation of the church. Some people say that Jesus is the rock so Peter cannot be. But two people can be the same thing in different ways. For example, in Ephesians 2:20, it says the apostles and the prophets are the foundation. But in the book of Revelation, it says Jesus is the foundation. It's not a contradiction, it's just different understandings. Jesus is the ultimate rock and cornerstone, but he clearly made Peter the head of the church when he gave him the keys of the Kingdom and a special authority. Thus, the Church is built on Peter as Jesus said, but he is the ultimate cornerstone.
We agree with you that the Apostles are the foundation, but only one of those Apostles received the Keys of the Kingdom from Jesus and we can see the Primacy of Peter all over the New Testament. Peter is mentioned in the bible 195 times. Saint John, 29 times, St. James 16 times. Peter does first miracle and the first speech. Peter receives the revelations from God. He has a special relationship with Christ who trains him. Acts 15:11. Peter alone settled the dispute. Lists of apostles are always Peter and 11. Peter and the others. Peter and the Apostles. He is always listed 1st and Judas last. Luke 5:1-10: Peter chosen for ministry as fisher of men. Luke 22:24-32. Leader of the brothers. John 21:1-17: chosen as shepherd of church under Christ.
Luke 22:25+ condemns the Pontifical monarchy and its dogma of salvation by submission to the Roman Pontiff (Unam Sanctam)
In fact it describes the orthodox Church where the clergy exerts no authority over the laity and hierarchy in the clergy is a necessity of function, not a submission of the faithful.
Luke 22:24+
A dispute also arose among the disciples as to which of them would be considered the greatest.
(so, the future pope)
So Jesus declared, “The kings of the Nations lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors. But you shall not be like them. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who leads like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves."
It is very obvious that what Jesus is describing is the opposite of a monarchy.
The clergy is compared to servants and the faithful are the masters they serve.
Now compare this with the bull Unam Sanctam (1302)
"... we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff."
We have here all the elements Jesus described in his condemnation :
A leader of the Church who wants to lord it over all the Nations and who justified his power by pretending he's a benefactor.
Jesus washed the feet of the disciples to illustrate what was the role of the Church.
The Roman Catholics always cite that Simon was called Peter by our Lord but thei wishfully ignore that saint Peter was not always well inspired. He's the one who refused to give his feet to Christ because he didn't want a Christ servant but a Christ king.
He's the one Jesus called Satan when he spoke his own mind, wishing that Jesus will not be crucified and Jesus told him to step BEHIND Him because his human thoughts were a stepping stone.
Those passages should always be in the minds of those who pretend to the function of leadership of the Church.
Their own human thoughts and ambitions make them Satan and not Peter.
Only when they served with humility they were true successors of saint Peter.
Arrogance, monarchical attitudes, temptation to be the successor of the Roman Emperors and pretending being infallible are traps.
Next time you want to debate about the orthodox faith, invite an actual orthodox.
Usual Roman Catholic tactics. Debating between themselves about what the orthodox Church says, without inviting an actual orthodox. The Humbert de Moyenmoutiers mentality is still alive in the Roman Church.
