Oh nice 👍. Fredrick from A Dram Divided gave me my first taste of this region and yup I was an instant fan. Looking forward to this series 👍. Excellent touch on the sub call out 😂🙌. Cheers 🥃
I was glad to see you review Double Cask. The core range of Glen Scotia is readily available here in Alberta, and that makes me very happy. I ordered the two most recent Campbeltown Festival bottles from the UK and have enjoyed them both. Hopefully Glen Scotia doesn't become a target for twitchers the way that the Mitchell whiskies are. Enjoy the sunny weekend, ours is a fine one too.
Cheers Peter. I imagine you guys see an awful lot more of the good weather than we do 😄. Yeah it's great to see Glen Scotia going well. It's good that distilleries like it are growing in popularity. It must be difficult for them though, to want to appeal to a wider audience but, do so without letting their quality slip. Here's hoping they can keep it up.
Haven't had this but everything Glen Scotia I have had is great. Ordered my first Victoriana last week and looking forward to that. Another fun intro, always good to hear about anything Campeltown. Since Loch Lomond bought Glen Scotia they have improved things and invested in it. Cheers Jim
Great review & intro, Jim...you know we enjoy these....I loved your first nosing notes, that for me sums up all about this lovely & great value whisky imho too: "Yeah, yeah, yeah", lol...Well done, my friend, Cheers ! 🥃
@@WhiskeyNovice You're very welcome...Believe me or not but my favorite nas ones (& under 18 yo as well) from Glen Scotia are this Double Cask & the "1832" (2017 travel retail, 1 liter release, but apparently some can still find it in a few UK airports with a new packaging...), which was one of my whiskies of the year a few years ago & a bit different from this one though the same cask type recipe, but probably not the same proportions & ages...but if you see it somewhere, Jim, grab it ! (I rated it higher than this one due to its incredible balance & elegance)
Great review Jim. While we didn't get all the same things in this one, we sure do agree that its a cracking whisky. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Cheers mate.
Glen Scotia is one of my go-to whiskies. I do like Campbelltown and they provide an excellent product at a very good cost. I have not tried this one, though so I'll have to watch for it. Thanks, Jim.
Thank you Bud. Not their best but I think this one showcases the Glen Scotia spirit well. Definately worth checking out. Especially if you can get it at the right price. Cheers my friend.
Enjoyed the review Jim great content as always - I agree with Menno you should have so many more subscribers, one of the best channels in the whisky world imo. I've had GS on my list to try for a while and your review has made me get off my arse and buy a bottle - just ordered on amazon for £25.71!
Thanks Al that's very much appreciated. Yeah I saw that on Amazon. That's a great price. I was tempted to pick up another bottle but I've spent A LOT on whisky this month! And it's only 2 days in 😬 😄 Cheers mate.
@@WhiskeyNovice good man, self-control! I'm trying hard to stop buying, I'm getting married this September and been banned from any more purchases but I thought as this is under £30 it does no harm - I'll find out Friday when it arrives!!
The fill level might have been a bit of a giveaway regarding you liking this. Very nice bang for buck dram, great review, both the notes as the blatant self promotion 😄. Honestly, why you’re not at 3k ish subs at least is a mystery to me, as you keep bringing excellent content. I’ll comfort myself with the thought that there’s more of you to go around for those who know 😉. Think you’re not wrong about GS riding the wave of the Campbeltown hype, but they do bring the quality to justify that in recent years. Slainte Jim.
Cheers Menno. Very kind of you to say. Hey I ain't going anywhere mate. I'll just keep reviewing and, hopefully, the subs will come. No hurry. Yeah this is, as I've said to others, one that I think every whisky drinker should have in their cabinet. It's (almost) better than its value. Slàinte my friend
Great review Jim... I’ve only tried a sample of one GS so this one seems like a good one to add to the list .. especially at that price point! Cheers 🥃
I adore the 15 year old, but everything they do is excellent and more importantly, easy to get. All of the Campbeltown whisky is getting snapped up quickly now because it's such good stuff. That Kilkerran 8 has a lot to answer for, but it was a very good bottle. Cheers Jim!.
Thanks for the excellent review Jim and this is a favorite of mine as well. Even prefer it to the 15 year though I may be in the minority on this opinion :) I agree with Menno that when I saw the fill level in the first few seconds of your video, I was thinking you may like this one... Thanks also for the tip on Man O Swords as haven't heard of that one and my Lowlands to explore list only has Bladnoch 10 presently.
Cheers Drew. Yeah Annandale are another one of those "break through" distilleries as far as I can tell. The Man 'o' Swords surprised me. Lowland whisky still seems to be a bit of an enigma. To me, it doesn't have a destinct feature that you could put your finger on and say "yeah that's Lowland for ya!" But, I suppose that's no bad thing either. Thanks buddy.
The Victoriana would have much more going on. We would also pay about twice the price for the Vic over this. There's no denying that this one's a gem but, Victoriana takes it to the next level in my opinion. Cheers.
@@WhiskeyNovice Just watched your Vic review again. The mention of Edradour at the end did it for me as its a fave of mine (well the 10yo is, that's all we can easily get down here). Just ordered some of the last remaining 54.2% bottlings of the Vic in Oz. One to drink and one for a rainy day. Cheers my friend.
been drinking quality cask blended whisky for decades, Glen Ord and Glen Scotia and many more, never have I been able to get the many flavour hints you claim in the Glen Scotia. talking casks for the last 100 plus years, I have an astonishing sensitive pallet, so where are you getting these hints from. I'd love to know. ?.
Not really Richard. I certainly don't get a smokiness off it but then...my tolerance for smoke and yours are different so don't quote me on it 😄. Cheers mate.
@@WhiskeyNovice got mysel' a wee bottle in Quebec, and had a wee tipple last night. I think I get a wee bit of tobacco, but totally get the hard gingerbread on the nose. Superb dram. :)
Thanks Jim, for again a highly enjoyable review. Making it even more pleasant is that it's a great dram.

Great video Jim enjoyed the editing and of course the review. The GS DC is a personal fav. Cheers mate

Great dram, great value. Must add to list for tomorrow night with Roy.
Sure is. Cheers Dezzz.
