      What happened to Shawn Lane and Jason Becker are likely biggest tragedies for a guitar community, imagine the levels of skill and composition we would see and hear if Shawn was still with us and Jason was still able to play,pretty sure they'd be unmatched. ALS is a living hell,Becker is a true fighter.

    Upvote for picking super hard and still making it sound good. A lot of other players are super delicate with sweeps, it's like, 'no man, those strings are literally made of steel, just dig in'.

      Picking harder almost always sounds better for things like this. People don't do it because it's exponentially more difficult to do it cleanly than just softly brushing the strings.

      The argument being made (everyone is free to reach their own conclusion however), is that that the main reason JR’s version sounds cleans than JB’s is because JR is playing this switched to the neck pickup while JB used the bridge, but considering that, it shows just how impressive JB’s version is because I always thought (Since the first time I heard it which like15 years ago) he played it using the neck pickup as well.

      I think you don't have to feel depressing, because 'that good' is just a concept. I also think this is incredible, but it doesn't define 'good'. For me 'good' is creating my own melodies, solo's, and so on, but that is only me. Maybe for you 'good' is being able to play very fast, or to play arpeggio's like this. But I just think you shouldn't compare yourself with others, because then you do end up depressed haha.

      Jason Becker could certainly play it clean. This is the only video of him ua-cam.com/video/87Iz3RHZNDQ/v-deo.html unfortunately using bridge pickup. Added with room mic it sounded messy though but he sweep effortlessly.
      I wish Richardson would play it using Becker's original shapes because it sounded more fluid but still intense.
