Just an FYI... Take it or leave it... I taught English to high school students, and when furthering my education, I got a degree in teaching reading. One of the most important things I learned, and knew from experience, that you should always read poems and important things twice, if not more. You read first for content, and secondly, for deeper comprehension. I always repeat my reading if it’s something I want to retain.

I live in Vienna, Austria and whenever I go to a classical concert I'm leaving inspired and eager to work more. Why? Because of all the musicians who play with absolute mastery. I know how long it takes to become that good. Those musicians started learning when they were 4-5 years old. Now they're over 30, performing all over Europe. Working on their skills each day. I have so much respect for anyone who has mastered a skill. This World truly does not have enough of dedicated people. Dedication, consistency, patience. Those traits are to be admired and worked on. Great video and I'm very happy to see you have covered this topic, thank you.

A few hours of deep work is worth more than long hours of unproductive work

For ADHD brains among us, the advice here is almost comical. ADHD causes something called "hyperfocus", which is essentially uncontrolled deep work. Our problem isn’t developing habits that encourage deep work, it’s developing habits to DIScourage inappropriate deep work. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked up from several hours of hyperfocus just to realize I’ve written code I don’t need, or fully researched an irrelevant topic, or planned out a project that will never get done, or developed a skill I’ll never use productively.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great makes you feel that you, too, can become great..

Meanwhile, offices want you to answer emails, phones, chats and random manager questions at all times. If you start a deep work session you are suddenly ignoring all of your other responsibilities.

There is nothing new being discussed here, just rephrasing of time tested vintage ideas. The core message is that you should declutture your schedule so that you can energetically focus on your core interests or ideas that have the most potential to shift the needle in a significant way.

As I venture more and more into ancient wisdom, it has become all the more clear that a monastic and a self-controlled life, though difficult to achieve in today's world, is a necessity if one desires not to remain ordinary in his field of activity.

The most important takeaway about this concept is to make it an habit. If we can't get it into our daily routine, it won't worth it. Great video 👏

As a business owner I totally agree with this, having a daily schedule has helped me so much as long as it was combined with a daily written goal accountability time log. :) also I must stress just how much getting up at 5 in the morning and doing some exercising has really improved my energy and my stamina in my overall health which in turn gives me even more ability to perform, I think health and getting up early are both something that is often overlooked when it comes to success.

Thanks for the validation. You've cleared what has been my biggest frustration - organizing deep work in today's world and seeming like a freak.

The greatest UA-cam channel for improvement, productivity, and career goals, yet so underrated. You deserve more subscriptions and views than other UA-camrs' shitty motivational videos. Thank you for changing our lives and please, keep doing this <3
