Nate, with all of the "cryptocurrency-blockchain-DeFi" buzz going around these days, I just had to dig deeper. I found this video, and it helped me out immesnsely! Thanks!
wow thank you for this! this is the first video that i've felt like, okay, i *finally* get this. thank you for the analogies and examples! they are abundantly helpful.
Your clarity of explanation is very impressive. One thing that remains vague is to me at least is if mining is problem solving/guessing by sophisticated computers, who or what is initiating the problem that needs solving?
Wikipedia is a pretty bad example of the wonders of decentralization. I've seen some horrendously biased entries on Wikipedia, and lots of important information cleverly omitted. Otherwise, I think this guy does a damn good job explaining.
Investing in bitcoin is the best investment anyone can do this, because it has made a lot of people millionaire. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life
It's been a little over a year since our oldest son, Nick introduced me to crypto currency. Nate, you have really taught me a lot and it's getting easier to follow you!💕
Why in your video you said that after one block is not enough? And we have to wait until 6 blocks to confirm the transaction. And the real question is what would happen if I confirm at 3 blocks. And after the 6th block came along I found that it was not a legal transaction? Than you
This was one of the most thorough explanations of Blockchain that I have encountered. immediately, after watching, I subscribed and hit the notification button. Easy and simple to understand. Love it!. Please continue to post!
1. when I turn off my computer how I am helping to verify transaction? 2. if each node on network has common decentralised data of transaction, how my small desktop handle such big data ? please clarify. thanks
I'm so confused as soon as you got to proof of work. Are the new blocks filled with information or empty? And who or what is giving these "rewards" to people that "solve" complex math problems? Moreover, who or what has the answers to these complex math problems to verify the answer? And the entire point of solving these math problems is simply to reward someone with the ability to make more blocks? I'm so confused...
These guys promote the new version of the wonderful new world. As with any idealistic, futuristic novelty, everything is fabulous in theory but not so in practice.
What I cant wrap my head around is who inputs the initial information into the block chain, doesnt the information inherently come from a centralized source?
When it comes to the world of investment, most people don't know where to start. Fortunately, great investors of the past and present can provide us with guidance
One concept I can't wrap around my head is, if every user/individual in the blockchain has the exact same data/ledger information isn't this data redundancy at the tremendous level, and how much data storage is used for every single transaction ??!!!!??
One of the biggest advantage of blockchain technology is that it provides transparency as complete history of transactions i.e blockchain is stored by each node in the P2P network. You can peek into any transaction that has happened in the history and pull details about it. Though anonymity is the big concern as you can only see public key in the transaction details. But if you think about shortcomings of current system, as a common man you don't have any idea at all about the fishy transaction that are going on behind the doors and details about such transactions are totally inaccessible to you which should not be the case with the block chain
I've watched several videos on blockchain and I still have one major issue with it. I don't understand how people verify the information. If new coins are being created all the time, and new transactions are being done all the time, there has to be a place where people go to check everything. But then that makes it centralized because somebody has to be in charge of keeping all of those records. I understand that people take care of the records, but if I change a record then how does everyone else know that I made that change? If I create a new coin, how does everyone else know that I created that new coin? He uses Wikipedia as an example, but the people who run Wikipedia can just make changes if they want and continue to make those changes if people try to change them back. So while we believe that Wikipedia is decentralized, it's not. We're just putting our trust in that the people who run it won't continuously change it to what they wanted to say. I feel like there's a major peice of the puzzle that I'm missing.

Is any of this tangible? Doesn't sound like it. Money was once based upon the gold standard or actual gold and silver. What determines the value of something that doesn't even exist? Is there an actual Bitcoin one could hold in their hand? What is the inherent value of it?
