Life
Life is a 1999 American buddy comedy-drama film directed by Ted Demme. The film stars Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. It is the second film featuring Murphy and Lawrence together (the first being Boomerang, in 1992). The supporting cast includes Ned Beatty, R. Lee Ermey, Obba Babatundé, Bernie Mac, Anthony Anderson, Miguel A. Núñez Jr., Bokeem Woodbine, Guy Torry, Michael Taliferro and Barry Shabaka Henley. The film is framed as a story being told by an elderly inmate about two of his friends, Ray (Murphy) and Claude (Lawrence), who are both wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. It received an Oscar nomination for Best Makeup at the 72nd Academy Awards. Life failed to meet the studio's expectations at the box office, and received mixed reviews from critics. The film later found a strong cult following among Murphy and Lawrence’s fans, establishing Life as a cult classic.

I've always thought that Life is a tragic story. The movie... the cast, the acting, the writing and direction, is exceptional but the story itself is heart-wrenching sad. The somewhat encouraging ending did not change that for me, considering everything that was lost.
Yeah its amazing story telling. Cause you can see it a few times and know what's coming but still be in all the feels

I've been a day one fan. Like the new edit ins. Good to see Jah back and looking healthy. Life is one of the best movies, just not a black movie. No wasted scenes. Rick James, Miguel A. Núñez Jr, and Bernie Mac killed it on the low in this movie. Tone takes be crazy sometimes. He swayed me. Claud def ain't have no job lol.

The reason why Claude was in debt with the loan sharks in the beginning of the movie was because he was a Sports Gambler...and it's obvious he was HORRIBLE! He owed Spanky because he got the money he was gonna use to pay his bill taken by the loan sharks...and the reason he would've got fired from the bank job was because he would've stolen money to pay back his street debts 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
They did explain why he was in debt he couldn’t pay his bill at the club that’s why plus he was starting the new job that Monday

Idk if people know or not but camp 8 is a real place in Mississippi. It’s called Parchman. Its in the delta( country country)
The song that was playing while they was on the bus on the way to prison, mentioned something about parchman farm that's crazy
This movie is a top 8 movie of all time because of all the topics and situations this movie hit. They hit heartstrings and funny bones. But it's a heavy movie with plenty of laughs. Another great adventure of Black Americans.
Great breakdown. I thought I was the only one who really didn't completely enjoy this film because it's not truly a comedy. It's a great film but this story is tragic.

Amazing review my good brothas. Another movie that was good but had me emotional was Nate Parker's 'Birth Of A Nation'. When them end credits started rolling, my girl had to tug my arm to get me up because I was stuck there weeping. That thoroughly f*cked me up and I'm getting emotional writing this now. I remember getting up and seeing a few older black men in the below seating, wiping their eyes as well. It was a heavy one.

Life is a feel good but sad family movie. Eddie and Martin are amazing actors that came together and made this movie come to life. I love it so much. It pissed me off so bad that stupid sheriff took their lives away from them. It has a great soundtrack too.

The time passing section where we see who fades is when the realness and stakes of their sentence hits. You end up sad and mourning with them
