    I run the regular Pulsar Trail and really like the shoe for everything you mentioned in this review, but I have 2 drawbacks: upper gets a bit hot and only slightly muddy is a no go, just not enough grip. For everything runnable, especially in dry condtions, perfect...Not to mention the bargain for the regular version...as a summary it's just a bit strange that the warmer upper would be perfect for fall and winter, but the outsole won't cope with the trail condtions in those seasons, at least if you wanna leave the forrest routes, Cheers Ingo

    Speedgoat 5's are fast the ones I used so far along with the Caldera 6's, I had Salomon's Speedcross's I never liked them, yesterday I bought the evolved version of the ones you present in your video, as I put them on to do a 12 km test I said to myself these are crap like the speedcross's but it's like they spoke and said put us to the test and you'll see, same heart rate same elevation gain same fatigue perception like other times i was running on the same trail, mud and snow 1 min faster per km in certain segments 1:15 min faster per km, I got home I look at the graphs I was stunned.

    I usually agree with you on just about everything. It's come to a point where I consider your reviews a starting point looking for a shoe. I don't quite agree here though. I thought those bits of stitching would give me issues but I have had no problems at all in runs up to 5 hours so far. It's been supremely comfortable so far. My only gripe is that the heel counter doesn't quite grip the heel due to the flexible construction of the booty upper. I felt my heel moving on steeper descents with sharp corners. Otherwise the shoe has worked really well for me.

    Came back to this review after trying a pair on in my size that was on sale. Felt the same thing that you did with the stitching.

    Interesting review, I did 50 miles in the Scottish highlands in June, felt confident at all times and even better felt fresh the next day and was back training within the week. I did switch back to the slab ultra 3 for UTMB but that was more because I needed more structure being in the mountains for over 30 hours and was moving slower so didn't think I would benefit from the plate and softer foam. These are going to be ideal for race to the stones, I may be lucky and the fit works for me but never had any of the issues you describe. I love the crazy colour too, makes me feel great on race day 😃

    Good afternoon Run4adventure and all the runners. Good information about this Salomón's shoes. I don't knew those model's Salomon. Here is my like, Loyd. A nice week for everyone. ☀️🏃‍♂️☀️

    Thanks, Loyd - I have this version but it’s the least favorite purchase this year and quickly fell out of my trail rotation. If there was such a thing as a trail 5 K, it might be a contender although there are better options (including the new Atreyu Trail) for shorter distance. It is a miserable ride for longer distances, however. Feels bottom-heavy so that you start dragging. Ran 17 miles out of the box here in the Colorado mountains and it was one tedious journey! Many better options: Norda 001, Speedland PDX, Hoka Tekton X, Saucony Endorphin Edge (tippy though it is) and the new Inov-8 280 TrailFly.

    Great review Loyd. I have the Trail Pro's and I agree with everything in your review. They're great fun for shorter runs, but the upper gets painful after a while. I used them on dusty Spanish trails during the summer and also found them iffy on the the downhills. I remember my first run in them after your initial review and as I approached a steep downhill down a gully I could hear your comments in my head and sure enough, I slithered down the gully shouting F********CK!!! 😁

    I never had comfort issues with lace eyelet stitching. Unfortunately the midsole has lost some of its pop around 400km and the outsole seems to be wearing out quite fast.

    I have the pulsar trail non-pros. The upper is very comfortable, and as with the pro the midsole is excellent. I find the toe box narrows very quickly causing some pressure on my little toes, not an issue I've had in any other shoes. I've also found the outsole has worn down quickly ... about 150 miles and some of the tread is gone.
    Have you tried the arc'teryx norvan ld 3? Looks to be a very interesting shoe ...

    The regular Pulsar will fix the lacing pain issue I think , and traction wise I haven’t had problems yet.. I run in the normal pulsars and love them a lot!:-) great for this time of the year!

    I have 2 pairs of these and have put 500k between both pairs, i've ran everything in them from a short technical sky race to a mountainous 100 miler. The lugs are the biggest problem, they're absolute crap, they are practically gone by now. Salomon used to be about longevity but now they're complete opposite. I love the energy blade - main reason i bought them. Agree on the upper but found them pretty comfortable on my foot.

      The outsole isn't great Gavan but the midsole is really good👌

    Hi its really nice to see an honest review I'm always interested in the trail running shoes reviews that you do. I'm new to trail running and my first pair were the salamon speed 5 and I slipped over on really wet chalk on the south downs yesterday. So I think it would be really nice to review some decent winter shoes as I'm really confused for a decent pair with a good grip for our lovely southdowns!! Only doin about 5 to 7k at the moment!! Any advice would be great as I'm very green 😊😊

    • @ianl4518
      @ianl4518 2 роки тому +1

      SDW is local to me and it can be tricky to get a good shoe for it it winter. That wet chalk is like ice, so you need something good for rocky type grip but there is also a lot of mud and tree roots to deal with. I use the Speedgoat but that means a lot of material under your foot. A proper winter shoe on the SDW would be pretty hard under foot as the trail tends to have a lot of road or near road sections.
      Maybe something like the Xodus Ultra?

    I had same issues with Pegasus lineup. A shoe is useless if it hurts to run in them.

    Looking for a good trail shoe that’s good for road running sections that can join up trail sections.
    Would these be good to allow good cushioning on the road sections or is there another shoe that you could recommend to have a look at? Don’t mind the price
    Many thanks

    Those lugs look quite shallow and almost in a straight line (at least to my eye) that's never going to be a great combination. Nice looking shoe though!

    Does the midsole feel really the same as in Ultra Glide? I've tried both in store only. Pulsar Trail felt flat and hard 🙁
    Do you think it's better to get the UG, considering all the cons?
    I patiently waited for the new Salomons passing on UG last year... now what?! 😅

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  2 роки тому +1

      The midsoles use the same compound but they do feel quite different when you run. The Ultra Glides are definitely softer underfoot, you feel like your sinking in the cushioning more. Where as the Pulsar Trail Pro's feel like they've got more bounce, so more responsive, more energy return. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
