After publishing the Langnickel 5590 Quick Tip, we discovered that Langnickel has stopped making this little jewel. Some artists are suggesting the RosemarySeries 279 as a good substitute. I've not yet tested it, but you can purchase it at www.windriverarts.com/Brushes.htm . You can telephone these folks to order. Dianne
Dianne Mize hi, Thank you for all your tips...so valuable...I've been watching them over and over...how can I access the full videos here on UA-cam? Can you please talk about your palette hues...I wish you would consider uploading a few of the full beginning videos here on UA-cam ...I think you'll get a lot of views and subs and views..thank you for all your wonderful tips...your wonderful. Please if you can...I would luv to know your palette and why.
Dianne Mize hi..I think the LangnickelRoyal SableTek Brushes series L95510 is the same as the 5590? They look the same. Rosemary &Co makes wonderful brushes...they are handmade and very good customer service and fast delivery...
We made this Quick Tip several years ago and sadly, soon after we made it, I discovered that Langnickel no longer makes this brush. It's merit is that it's bristles are floppy. If you can find a flat squirrel hair brush, you might be in the ball park of what this piece of history can do.
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction I use a master's touch flat, bristle (400F) as my primary brush....or their filbert of the same size. It has fairly long bristles, but it's hard to make them spread out for a looser effect. I'll look for the squirrel hair. Thanks for the advice.
Dianne Mize hi Dianne...hope your having a wonderful new year. I've been watching your wonderful tips from your very first. I know somewhere I've seen...I think ..you mentioned your choice of alternative brush...as the series mentioned is no longer available...I would appreciate so much if you could tell me...I know of the Rosemary & Co...thank you... Could you possibly consider a tip on how to identify shapes in a photo...when blocking in darks and lights..looking for abstract shapes... Thank you...
Stella, the Rosemary brushes are wonderful, but I've not found among them a good substitute for the Langnickel 5590. If I find one, I'll let everybody know. Thanks for your Quick Tip suggestion. I will put that one on our schedule. Meanwhile, you might consider from my full length tutorials Series 23, Abstract to Realism. diannemize.com/product-category/series-twenty-three-abstract-to-realism/ , Another suggestion is to learn to work with the notan sketch. If you are unfamiliar with it, you can watch a free video tutorial at diannemize.com/a-free-lesson-how-to-do-notan-based-on-shadow/ .
