Song of Ice and Fire is a prophecy that Prince Aegon would save man from darkness. Hence why everyone named their heirs Aegon hoping their son would be the chosen one. Jon Snow (Aegon VI) fulfilled the prophecy by being the Prince that was promised.

I love that Raenyra learned the truth about Viserys final words. Her father defended her claim so many times and its satisfying to know that his daughter knows he never waivered.
It was also interesting to see alicent be in complete denial about her misunderstanding viserys final words. The guilt she would feel for that, on top of the guilt she already feels for her relationship w criston would probably just completely break her.
Like this whole time alicent has thought that shes been in the right, and convinced herself that she was carrying out viserys last wish, and she can’t handle learning that she was totally wrong about that and did indeed usurp the throne from raenyra

Rhaenyra initially doubting if her Father really wanted her to rule, then realizing he never wavered. That scene takes the cake for me this episode.
But nothing tops the king taking the throne one more time to defend his daughter's claim.

I was kinda expecting them to show her in a backroom at the bar checking in on her *failed tea* platinum blonde baby. They really made sure we recognized Dyana.
Some of us wondered whether the purse of coin given to Dyana by the Queen was "here's enough to start life over somewhere far away" money or "here's bus fare" money. Since Dyana is serving drinks in a low tavern in King's Landing, it was bus fare.

They were already planning to crown Aegon as soon as Viserys died, whether he wanted her daughter to still be Queen or not. So Rhaenyra wouldn't have been safe if she stayed.

The way Rhaenyra would probably have given up everything if she heard Alicent tell her that her father clearly said he chose the wrong heir or he didn’t want Rhaenyra to be on the throne anymore. Like if he said something along those lines and Alicent told Rhaenyra that I genuinely think she would have backed down with the promise that none of her other children would end up dead like Luc 😭💔All this is to say that this episode just reinforced my hatred for Alicent and the entirety of team green 👏
im not gonna lie, FOR A SECOND, i thought Alicent was going to pretend to know about the prophecy. but seeing how sad Rhaenyra was before thinking her father disappointed her almost made me cry!

Another really good episode… It was super satisfying that Alicent basically admitted that she believed Rhaenyra and had confused her son with Aegon the conqueror. I think Rhaenyra is going to fight 10x harder now that there is no doubt in her mind that Viserys wanted her to reign. I’m definitely Team Black, but I can’t help but hold a special place for Alicent and her “WTH” looks on her face (like confusion meets shock meets disgust) when she and Rhaenyra are talking…
Also I have to give it to Aegon (the actor). He is doing soooo good in this role. The scene where he’s barking at Aemond in the brothel/place; idk how he held it together and made it believable to his character, but he did and it was pretty phenomenal acting.

Seeing milly sewing jaces head back on was ELITE! Deamon having a vision leaves him confused. he always thought Targaryen dreams were folklore and vague. “Dreams didn’t make us kings. Dragons did” now he’ll probably be more obedient to rhyneara because he knows his brother wasn’t lying about the prophecy
Actually, dreams made Targaryens what they are at this point. If Daenys hadn't got the dream of Doom of Valyria, Targaryens would have also been destroyed like other dragonlords.

One thing is for sure. Rhaenyra has been cleared of ANY blame and consequences for what happens next. Her conscience is clear for Jaehaerys, and her conscience is clear for taking the throne they have been making her wait for 5 episodes just to drive home that point of Rhaenyra is not at fault even making Rhaenys drive the idea home that "it doesn't matter now."
Yasss!!! But it actually scares me how further events will turn. Someone said that Aegon looks like the character you absolutely hate at the beginning but will eventually love. I just hope they don't butcher Rhaenyra's character although it's been told...

I honestly do love how Rhaenyra gets a brutal reality check regarding Aegon II's accidental succession. It really doesn't matter what Viserys meant anymore- people are already dying, and children have been killed. It is far too late to back down from "a simple misunderstanding." It doesn't change how Rhaenyra *did* authorize a hit on Aemond in Daemon's presence, and it doesn't change the fact that Aemond let Vaeghar eat Lucerys.
The "truth" changes nothing.

She didn’t authorize a hit on Aemond tho. She just said she wanted him. This could even mean as a prisoner
It was Alicent that got the reality check! She set all this nonsense in motion over the fact that she misunderstood what Vicerys said with his dying breath. All because the root cause was her jealousy of Rhaenyra. And her jealousy and insecurities lead the foundation to people dying. She saw what everyone saw Vicerys defending his daughter’s right to rule. She was desperate to misunderstand the situation.
Rheanyra is hard to root for and she is doing everything in her power to lose this war. If I was her I would have released the Deamon the second I heard of the Hightowers usurpation of the throne. This war would be over within a fortnight, with the Hightowers heads on pikes.

That Blackwood in the opening scene is actually Davos Blackwood, according to subtitles. I watch with subtitles because sometimes it reveals some things that are not immediately obvious. Bloody Ben is only 11 in the books (assuming the show agrees with the f&b retelling). He does indeed look like the artwork of bloody Ben
It’s funny how the sources in the book disagree about basically everything, except for the indisputable fact that Alys Rivers is some form of witch
The biggest question I had about season 2 was if Rhaenyra would ever find out what Viserys told Alicent on his deathbed and if not then it would be a huge missed opportunity the writers would've left on the table to add to Rhaenyra's motivation as a character and adds more depth to what really drives her--knowing that as an audience (besides being usurped of course) now just makes Rhaenyra's actions and decisions that much more important and has a higher impact to the story now, and I'm so glad they let us know now that she found out. She ain't f*cking around anymore its go time, and the story needed that to make Rhaenyra go from passive and inaction on war to declaring war. Can't wait for episode 4

She knew who Aegon the Conquer is. She just wasn't familiar with the prophecy that is only passes directly between heirs to the throne. She had no way of putting his ambiguous words into their proper context. She didn't know when he said Aegon he was referring to the Conquerer.

Sure realized she doesn’t have authority over her son anymore. Especially now that Cole is hand and Mr. Clubfoot doesn’t like her anymore. Additionally her father is gone. She’s essentially powerless now

What is she supposed to? Tell her son to hand his crown to Rhaenyra? Something tells me that’s not going to happen. And criston Cole is definitely not going to in anyway let that happen. Even allicent knowing this puts her in danger. Imagine if Larys strong found out. Like allicent said, as horrible as it is, it is way too late. Let’s not forget that the small council was already planning to put aegon on the throne regardless of what the king said. Allicent’s confusion only put the icing on the cake for them. So it would’ve happened this way anyway.

I love the scene between Rhaenyra and Alicent and the fact Rhaenyra asked her what Viserys said.

Corlys didn’t consider Rhaena as his heir not because of her gender, but because she’s the progeny of his youngest kid instead of of his oldest kid. Ignoring gender, succession is supposed to go through the line of whoever’s oldest. Had Rhaena been Laenor’s daughter and not Laena’s, she probably would’ve been named heir since we know he has no problem with the rule of women.
I guess it's more about her knowing nothing about seafaring. Also, he's hesitance may be about him having his own bastards (Adam and Alyn) being both male and capable of sea trade. That's why he's waiting - he wants his bastards to be legitimased by queen, but he cannot let his wife know he has bastards in a first place.
Am I the only one who thought Daemon was about to see his mother instead they went with the cheap pop from Young Rhaenyra. Seeing his mother would've been so much better as it shows his true sensitivity and insecurities.
I was expecting to see Daemons mother aswell. It could have possibly made the scene even deeper and stronger. Of course, seeing Rhaenyra makes sense in my mind, the audience will recognize her younger version and what significance it plays is good as it is. But imagine seeing his mother and Rhaenyra in that scene. I think both could have deep meaning for Daemon, who long for love, warmth and trust but his ever wild temperement, of envy and pride, cause a rift between him and those around him. His mother could have been reminder of the family. Of the innocent lives he has caused harm to.
Rhaenyra gave him a second chance to be alive, a second chance to prove himself right and dutyful to the family, after the loss of Laena. I think seeing his mother would have taken away the impact Rhaenyra the young had, the innocent soul he did not meant to cause harm yet contributed to.
Just some quick thoughts.
But yea, if the show writers wanted they could have shown his mother/alter the scene to include her. But I think it was a good scene nonetheless.
I’ve imagined a scenario where Rhaenyra and Alicent talk about the Song of Ice and fire for 2 years. They did it beautifully.

It’s obvious rhaenyra was the last one to know the prophecy and didn’t pass it down so it was forgotten and lost after the dance, that’s why the prophecy took a shit at the end in my head haha

House Heavy Spoilers Forever!
I was surprised Alicent didn’t call the guards on Rhaenyra after she walked away. It was established that neither of them want war - and striking down Rhaenyra would end the war that Alicent argued had already started. I’m curious what her justification will be in the next episode.
She probably sees that it’s out of both women’s hands now, the men are all lusting for blood. Alicent has a powerless vibe, never takes control when she needs to, can’t think for herself (other than pushing her son to the throne).
@@vintage_violet true point. Plus if Rhaenyra died, Daemon would probably attempt to seize the throne and the war would continue anyway.

But even with him being put out like because weren’t the scenes were taking place simultaneously? And even if he was upset with his wife, he would just torch everything I think. Like full stop.

@@computasaysnoo1 yeah, the war would then be about avenging the rightful queen and putting her heir on the throne. And in the book honestly, the biggest threat was daemon. His Dragon had the most experience in a fight next to Aemonds dragon and Aemond had no battle experience.
Also, I think in the scene honestly alicent its just kind of pissed at herself . Full of self loathing, powerless, and always the second choice.

Young Rhaenyra flash back is actually a metaphor for the things that daemon caused to take a darker turn. He cause the death of an innocent child, even if he meant to attack an adult Aemond Targaryen. He played with young Rhaenyra, her feelings and future, making a dent in Rhaenyra reputation in the future.
Last episode Alicent brought up sinning to Otto and Otto waved it off, when Halaena said she forgives her that’s what I took it as. Alicent being forgiven for her sins. But I could have read into it wrong!

I have to give a shoutout to the people commenting here. I try to stay updated on the fandom on TikTok, but I am going to fully close that chapter in my life. Nobody under this video is complaining and bringing down certain characters, just stating what they like and dislike. Completely without attacking anybody or trashing the hard work of some people.

Viserys talking about the prophecy ONLY to Rhaenyra is like a shield against all her doubts being the rightful heir. First, to Daemon. Then to Aegon. The King was so sure about her. It really warms my heart and reminds me of that last walk to the throne to defend his daughter.
Anyone else feel like the delivery of “you’re going to die here” was so bad? The actress’s voice sounded so modern
That last scene was completely unnecessary not needed, also this episode heavy handidly pushed the narrative that all the men want war and the women want peace...which is a complete lie (Wtf were the writers thinking with that BS?) Also Rhaeneys casually not mentioning that she committed an act of war and to be frank a war crime with that dragon pit stunt last season...I look forward to her comeuppance (no spoilers). Lastly if you know the lore so many characters see each other for the last time this episode (and the previous one) it reminded me of the earlier seasons of GOT, that sense of dread and sadness.

Okay. Okay. Okay... For real, though... Alicent is so stubborn for her denial about the true Aegon that Viserys was talking about before he passed away. The confusion about who Jacaerys' true father is is one thing, but everyone keeps lying about more urgent matters, which is destroying House Targaryen. It's like the kingdom favors any convincing male succession story over the rulings that the kings set in the first place.
Worth noting that Ser Simon Strong was played by Simon Russell Beale, known as "the greatest stage actor of his generation" and who was terrifying as Lavrentiy Beria in The Death of Stalin.

Ok, it was Rhaenyra had time to entrenched her claim and so on... but Otto was THE FIRST person to give the idea of sending assassins after Rhaenyra. How wouldn't Otto do that? He also wasn't dumb enough to send a member of the King's guard, but HE WAS THE FIRST GUY WITH THOSE KIND OF IDEAS RHAENYS! That aside, I am loving Rhaenys in season 2, while I can anyway 😭
