- When visiting Morocco, it's important to dress modestly and respect the local culture and customs, which tend to be more conservative. Here are some guidelines on what to wear in Morocco:
Clothing: Both men and women should opt for loose-fitting, lightweight garments that cover the shoulders and knees. Long pants or skirts are recommended. Women may consider wearing longer sleeves or a shawl to cover their arms. Avoid clothing that is too tight or revealing.
Traditional Attire: You might want to experience Moroccan culture by trying traditional clothing, such as a djellaba (a long, loose robe) or a caftan. These can be purchased in local markets and are suitable for both men and women.
Head Coverings: While not mandatory for foreigners, women may choose to carry a scarf or a head covering (hijab) with them, especially when visiting religious sites or more conservative areas. It can be useful for showing respect and blending in with the local culture.
Footwear: Comfortable shoes are essential, as you may be doing a lot of walking. Closed-toe shoes or sandals with straps are recommended for both men and women.
Cultural Sensitivity: Avoid wearing clothing with offensive slogans or symbols, as well as clothing that is too tight, transparent, or overly casual (such as beachwear). Showing respect for the local customs will help you have a more positive and enjoyable experience in Morocco.
Remember that specific clothing choices may vary depending on the city or region you are visiting. It's always a good idea to research the local customs and dress codes for your specific destination within Morocco.

It looks like many in your group are wearing “mid-weight” coats and jackets. What time of year were you there? A friend and I are going at the end of Feb through mid March. Thanks!
Hi Cathy, the clips where we wore coats would be in January. End of January. If you are there beginning of February, I would recommend a light coat. Do you have a tour guide? Do you need recommendations?
