They knew the effects of these horrible chemicals when they experimented on prisoners in unit 731, the gulags, concentration camps, etc. How is experimenting on the public any different? Where’s the disiconnect? It’s beyond me.
Actually experiencing these symptoms in ones own body, as a professional physician etc..it offers you a level of understanding, of familiarity & awareness in a patients symptoms that is extremely helpful to your capacity for making accurate diagnosis- identification of acute illness.
as a person who just experienced this in a mental health facility, this is the most information i’ve received on what the hell just happened. Mental health facilities in america are honestly horrid. They convinced me i was just losing my mind and discharged me the next day.

You went there once right? Yes me too. I was once trusting the "Drs and Expert" little did i know, they do only know a little about how the drug and schizoprenia are. Once this side effects occur you're basically on your own, there's no cure for that.
Looks like the VHS tape had EPS too. (Not meant to minimize anyone's struggles, but I cope with TD, and I have to laugh at it from time to time so I don't go bonkers.)
I get severe akathisia from maxalon, phenergan and last night from valium which has never affected me before. It starts as a weird feeling I can feel building up in my body, like a vibrating or shaking inside and then my legs go crazy and I also start clenching my toes and hands and my head and shoulders clench too. Then it turns to panic and anxiety over feeling this way. If im lucky I may have some paracetamol and codeine tablets to knock myself out to stop it.
I get akathesia from Reglan (IV nausea medicine.) I have it marked in my chart as an allergy. I hate panic feelings so much and would do anything to get them to stop.
I took an overdose yesterday to get back at my parents not believing my stomach symptoms. I thought it would have minor side effects. I had extrapyramidal syndrome for 7 hours, I never want to go through that experience again, holy hell

Wow. My biological mom has schizophrenia. And whenever we go to the doctors when she is on her worst (because she refuses take meds) they inject this drug (i forgot the name) that works for more than a week. I hated it because she experiences this syndrome and she looks very pitiful and it breaks my heart. This is very educational. Thanks for the info. Im studying pharmacy.

I had this once, except some muscle near my tongue and throat was spasming also. I was very scary because it was closing my throat over and I couldn't breath. Only thing that stopped me from death was I found if I put my fingers down my throat to cause a gag reflex it would let the spasm off for a few minutes so I could breath. This went on for a few days if I remember correctly. I do remember my head kept leaning back and I could not stop it.. Scary stuff. This happened to me after taking a friends anti-psychotic.
This recently happend to me it was thr worst thing to ever happen to me the pain from my head being forced back was so bad I wouldn't wish this on anyone
A few years ago I had this condition at its worst. So many things I could not do, like eat. I was was taken off ALL my medications, it was painful, and scary. I asked to be put in a detox center but my mental health provider refused. At the end I had lost about 75 lbs had a near death experience and had to be treated for ptsd for awhile. All the time trying to get back on track with all my meds. It was a terrible experience for my husband and I something I do not wish on anyone. Thank you for this video it was well done. I have some motor problems even on the low dose of Seroquel I'm on, but when I was hospitalized they gave me Reglan because I could not stop throwing up. It didn't help, but it was the worst case of restlessness and trembling I've ever had. Imagine the worst restless leg you've ever had, x10 all across your body (even inside). It was so uncomfortable and distressing that I absolutely freaked out and called the nurse over almost crying. It was so bad. I'm probably going to be on antipsychotics my whole life and since I'm so sensitive to these side effects I think I have a really high chance of TD and that sucks.
Try lowering Seroquel to minimum level. They put me 8 years ago on 200mg evening and next year on 400mg evening and 200mg in morning (knocked me out to before noon long nap). Also had Eftil (valporic acid + valporate), Valium, and Biperiden, also took a Zoloft. My experience is that besides Eftil, all other can be put to minimum dosage. They just dont get that biology is to get to homeostasis. But consult your MS before, I am not professional doctor, but have only high experience with drugs of this kind. Be well!
Be aware: this is an out of date look at Extrapyramidal Symptoms as far as treatment using reserpine. It would also be beneficial to add that neuroleptic medicine has evolved enormously since that time and tends to be safer with less side effects of this kind. Great real-life examples of the actual symptoms though. Fantastic retro video, very enjoyable just for that reason alone.
@@userxyz783 I'm sorry you experienced that but not telling you of the symptoms or potential side effects is 100% the fault of those Indian doctors you went to. Patients NEVER undergo treatment without FULL, INFORMED consent over here, or it's basis for legal issues, medical malpractice & suing, etc. Furthermore, I need to say, just because YOU experienced these side effects does NOT mean everyone does, and it does not negate the truth to 9567's comment that OVERALL new antipsychotic drugs have a much LOWER RISK of these severe side effects. Furthermore, if the doctor and nurse is at all competent, patients are MONITORED at any sign of these effects beginning, and STOPPED and CHANGED the meds immediately.
Seems to me, those working in psychiatry just need to monitor their patients better, using this information to learn to identify these medication counters. This Dr is an abundance of information…it would behoove those in the psychiatric | psychological, even therapy communities, to do what they are able to, to learn as much as possible from him, directly or through these teaching videos. I had this severely with my whole body after being given Haldol. I couldn't breathe. My back was arching with my neck was going back so hard I couldn't breathe. My arms and legs spasmed so hard I couldnt control any part of my body. I thought I was gonna die. This was over 30 years ago and I still have nightmares.
I remember John the stutterer (not to be confused with stuttering John) from the Howard stern show had involuntary spasms from his medications. I wonder which exact diagnosis he suffered from. He was in bad shape.
Are these symtomps indicate brain damage ? My 11 yr old son got the symptoms after his pediatrician gave chlorpromazine 100 mg to cure his fever. Please help, i am confused, is this malpracticed?
i think i have this i was on abilify ans it was horrible my psychiatrist increased it and then i finally got off of it and the twitching was less often but its still here and idk what to do im so upset its been like 2 years since i got off it i was on it to stabilize my mood and not for psychotic symptoms so idfk i hate it its bothering me so bad rn whicu is why im watching this video it gets worse when i am anxious i just want it to go away idk if its this bc i never got diagnosed but it seems very similar to whay im experiencing and my parents dont believe me and say its just becsise i hadnt been eating enough (but i have been eating a good amt lately,,,)

It's absurd those are real conditions and there are many doctors (who think they know everything when they don't) who say the patient is lying or under illegal drugs or whatever.
Can someone explain what symptoms of TD Yosef was displaying? He was sort of coughing or clearing his throat but I did not recognize any involuntary orofacial movements. He described having 2 left feet and appeared to show some bradykinesia but those are more reflective of Parkinsonian side effects.
He displayed facial grimacing with his eyebrows and eyes especially, his tongue was pushing out involuntarily whilst trying to talk making it difficult to do so. That's what I noticed - hope it helps.
In France they just call it " impatience " they do not use the term extrapyramidal symptoms. they inject me Loxapac and i experience malignant neuroleptique syndrome, i almost die, then i start to experience all dose symptoms. and after they force me to took the medication for two weeks. In france this syndrome do not exist. i manage to stop the medication when i get out ,and i experience for 4 months withdraw psychosis, dystonia and dyskinesia. its been 1 years and a half and i still have some of the symptoms of the dystonia. i'm desperate, i dont you how to heal myself, because doctor in France tell that all of this are part of schizophrenia. i'm just living a hell.
I'm sorry you are experiencing this. This seems like an absolute nightmare and I'm at least happy that these professionals seemed to express some sense of compassion towards the suffering of their patients. Couldn't imagine living with these sorts of conditions. You're a warrior, keep fighting
I experienced this in my neck and jaw and it was so unpleasant but quickly spotted by the nurses around me and corrected quickly. I was so relieved when it resolved
I take antipsychotics and they have saved me from psychosis. If you knew what it is like to have a psychotic episode, you wouldn't say this nonsense! It is a matter of finding the right dose and the right meds without these side effects. And believe me, I have tried akathesia which is horrible, but switching meds and lowering dose has helped. Everyone reacts differently to different types of antipsychotics. Your comment is ignorant. And btw. if this were the only type of meds to cure cancer, you wouldn't be saying stupid things like this.
@@sunny4lady I take 150mg saroquel at bedtime. I used to have terrible insomnia. Now I go to bed at midnight, get up at 7:45am. I feel rested. I sleep well most nights.
I have this as well. I was on Haldol when I was fifteen for about six months. Ever since then I've had horrible problems with involuntary movements. I don't know what sets them off. I could be having a very good day and then these movements start up. I'm 48 now and one thing I take that seems to help is CBD oil. I often drop things and spill liquids. I agree with the second patient interviewed, that it would have been better not to be treated at all than to wind up like this. I had a period of paranoia, nothing like the full psychotic breaks that would require a drug so powerful as Haldol, which might as well be horse tranquilizer. Looking back I think I should have just dropped out of school and smoked a lot of pot or started drinking, just zone out and figure out where to go from there, then just go to continuation school. Any society that would put kids on psychotropic drugs to conform is a sick society not worth being a part of.

My mother had drastic tardive dyskinesia after taking metoclopramide to treat her emesis as a cancer patient
My mother has been on antipsychs for 3 months and she has become completely disabled. She can’t move. No one can tell me why.
Metoclopramide and clebopride give me akathisia. I hate it.

What did he take?? Haldol? Antipsychotics are dangerous meds.

was Aripiprazole and Ziprasidone available when this video was made?
These kinds of spasms and worse can occur wo medication induced in cases of severe abuse.

I take antipsychotics and they have saved me from psychosis. If you knew what it is like to have a psychotic episode, you wouldn't say this nonsense! It is a matter of finding the right dose and the right meds without these side effects. And believe me, I have tried akathesia which is horrible, but switching meds and lowering dose has helped. Everyone reacts differently to different types of antipsychotics. Your comment is ignorant. And btw. if this were the only type of meds to cure cancer, you wouldn't be saying stupid things like this.
@@sunny4lady I take 150mg saroquel at bedtime. I used to have terrible insomnia. Now I go to bed at midnight, get up at 7:45am. I feel rested. I sleep well most nights.

I have this as well. I was on Haldol when I was fifteen for about six months. Ever since then I've had horrible problems with involuntary movements. I don't know what sets them off. I could be having a very good day and then these movements start up. I'm 48 now and one thing I take that seems to help is CBD oil. I often drop things and spill liquids. I agree with the second patient interviewed, that it would have been better not to be treated at all than to wind up like this. I had a period of paranoia, nothing like the full psychotic breaks that would require a drug so powerful as Haldol, which might as well be horse tranquilizer. Looking back I think I should have just dropped out of school and smoked a lot of pot or started drinking, just zone out and figure out where to go from there, then just go to continuation school. Any society that would put kids on psychotropic drugs to conform is a sick society not worth being a part of.
