Used this in a concert Friday night. Bernstein's "BSO Forever" from "Divertimento for Orchestra" has (2) trios where the brass pops straight mutes in for accents, and then there's about 3 counts before the trombones are playing an ff soli. With the stand I was finally able to get it in and back out without losing my mind. It was sort of in the way clipped to the music stand, but I eventually clipped it to my trombone stand and it was easy in easy out with my left hand. Neat gear - I immediately gifted it to my grandson, who plays a lot more concerts than I do.

Thank you for this review! I play in a jazz/swing band and there are some quick mute changes!

I've looked through your other vids and I don't see a review on various cases. I'm looking for the most protective, most attractive (hard to think about as the player is much younger than I) bass bone case. Have you done reviews of cases, and if not, might you be putting one up say, before Christmas?

I've considered these but they seem really awkward. Grabbing the end of big mute like a cup mute, pulling it out without snagging the corks on the ring, flipping it around and putting it in your horn -- just doesn't seem practical. But that is simply my impression and maybe real-life usage is not as bad as I think ? Might having the mute sit on top of the ring might eliminate that? (with the mute with the hole facing up ) The mute would be a little precarious; like it could tipping off, I guess, but might be easier for changing out the mute. thoughts?

Have you done anything on BERPs? I notice you folks stock them - pretty sure they didn't exist in my youth. Feelings one way or another? Worth a mention in your warm-up or technique Vlogs?

Here's the real question though... How well does it hold a pint glass for those jazz jams at the bar?

Pretty neat... if you're grabbing a mute in a hurry (during a performance) could you see whole thing getting snagged and knocked over (or the other mutes clanging?).

I would agree that it would take a bit of care and practice; even in trying it out I had to be careful of the corks catching on the underside of the rings. Given the lack of options for this particular need I think they provide a good alternative for the right setting...

For sure - you can't guarantee that you'll get the mute soundlessly from the floor, if that's where it's resting. The stand looks like a great idea - well conceived. I think it's my nature when looking at new products to imagine the worst thing that can happen. Gotta work on that.
