I remember singing this anthem as a 14-year old in the middle 1980s as part of an Anglican Choir competition in Eastern Nigeria. Sweet memories of teen-years. I scored this song personally. My choirmaster was surprised that as a teenager I could score it and he did ask me to assist the rest of the choir to score the anthem in parts (Treble, Altos, Tenors and Bass). So I would stand on a stool and provide some guide on the tonic sofas (I could sight-sing the tonic sofas and later on music notation and was entirely self-taught basically). My elder brother (God bless his soul), was also adept at conducting, so he conducted the choir while I provided harmony, rhythm and other tonal guides. Great anthem.
Brings back memories of my choir days! Makes more meaning listening to it now, thanks to the Holy Spirit! You guys did a good job in rendering this. May God help us all to worship him truly via his spirit indwelling us
Wonderful to hear this. I remember once playing through the vocal score of this piece and being impressed by the choral writing. Glad to finally get to hear some of it.
