What always blows my mind is how all this was in someone's mind before being committed to paper and played for all of us to hear.
It was a gift from God. He had been writing operas for his own glory, then one night he decided to tell the Lord, I will write music for you. He was hit with such a bolt of inspiration that he composed the entire Messiah, in record time. He was composing so fast that an actual copiest could not have copied the music as fast as he was composing it. When the Messiah composition seems too good to be composed by a mere human, maybe there's a reason!

I used to think that this music was composed by angels and is sung in heaven when I was growing up. Hallelujah is a Masterpiece. At 65yrs still chrish this
I’ve sang in the bass section many times, first time at 17 yrs old. I realized I’ve memorized many of the pieces, like this one, singing the bass part without the book. The biggest group I’ve joined was 300 singers and orchestra. Just awesone and blessed to have done it many times.

When you lean on Christ for strength through your everyday activities you are glorifying Him.
it is not up to you when it will be revealed. You just pray and believe, don't require from Lord as He has and knows when He shall come.
I always have this piece in mind whenever I light the candles in my Advent Wreath.
What a magnificent celebration of the power of The Messiah. Handel had to have the essence of the wonder and power of our creator when he composed this musical materpiece.

It was an incredibly inspired composition. Look up the story of it! It's so cool. He wrote the piece at an incredible speed because, it seems, God himself gave Handle the energy and vision to do it in record time. And this was after a rather unsuccessful past of writing operas!

I really wish all these performers knew the utter and sheer terror and magnitude of the words they were singing and all that is implied thereby.

I recommend any Christian to watch "The Sermon on the Mount" it's on UA-cam from the beautiful movie of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior called Jesus of Nazareth. It's so beautiful and I promise so true and powerful.

After completing Messiah, Händel said: "I did think I did see all Heaven before me, and the Great God Himself."
Very lovely, crisp and lively. I can't fault it. One thing - I was brought up with and still greatly enjoy, ringing perhaps somewhat more ponderously in my ears, the massed battalions of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of the curmudgeonly Sir Thomas Beecham, and, you know what? Although I can hear this choir singing beautifully in perfect English, I can hear (especially every time they sing the word Glory, which is often!) that it is not their native tongue. Rather charming.
I would like to hear the Brussels Choral Society perform the entire oratorio. I enjoyed this performance more than others I have heard sung in "Brooklyn-ese" or with a "Texas twang". I wonder, would German audiences have the same trouble listening to native English speakers performing Wagner?
