Totally agree on 2012 Silver/Gold Prizms. Give it 10 more years with some of the low pops on 9s and 10s and those cards have the potential to go way up with the nostalgia factor
Color match will most definitely be the better investment down the road. Serial numbers, sets everything else is mass produced, color matches is what will remain exclusive down the road in my opinion
I think in the past 15 years, the 2012 Prizm Basketball will be a nostalgic set for this era. It really was the first turn of the page from Topps ruling all the sports cards. The Prizm Silver of all the rookie cards in that set are super-low pop so they will always hold their value. Plus the set is loaded with rookies like Kwahi, AD, Jimmy Butler, Lilliard, Paul George, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Draymond. Just think if a set builder had a complete set of Prizm Silver for 2012 Prizm Basketball.
The huge crowd that came back /started collecting in the past ~5 years didnt open any 2012 Prizm or dont have much connection with it other than listening influencers and maybe picking up some singles from that set. Will it be enough to become the most nostalgic Panin set? People ripped and enjoyed the fun times they had with 2018 and 2019 prizm (chasing Luka, Zion etc), sure the printruns were totally different, but people got to expierence them way more than 2012 prizm. In terms of nostalgia I would not be surprised if sets from these years will bring more nostalgia to collectors 10-15 years from now.
I don’t want to say because I am actively looking to buy so I don’t want the competition 😂 but I think the Jambalaya cards that were made in the 2000s. You see the late 90s jambalaya go for crazy numbers, but the 2000s are still relatively affordable. I think the 90s inserts Jordan and Kobe collectors could look at the LeBron’s and other jambalaya cards in the 2000s as the next thing to collect.
2021 Donruss and Optic football. I say that because of the no helmet (mask) cards. I could see them being very nostalgic because everyone would remember the lockdown and masks.
Im not really sure if its gonna be the 1st year prizm that is going to be the most iconic, as its not really been the case with Topps chrome. Sure in the boom time the 1st year Topps chrome really took off like crazy, but has come down heavily. Seems more like the 08-09 and 09-10 Topps chrome sets are the most iconic ones.. 96 had a crazy rookie class but also 03-04 feels like at the same level or even ahead in terms of set collecting etc.
The Blue Sparkle refractors of the 2021 Heritage really gave that 1972 set the 3D look it tried for and throws in that glitter look that really enhances it. Im not selling mine (75%+ of the set) and when this whole cardboard thing tanks in general, its one of those sets thats just nice to have. A 1983 sticker Marcus Allen is WAY better than normal set 1983 where he's sitting on the bench looking tired. The sticker card he's in the open field makin moves and it really brings to mind the astonishing TD run he had in the Super Bowl that year! ($3!!!)that whole mini set is packed with great photos including Joe M, LT, Ozzie N The lack of interest in this set tells me all i need to know. A 1981 kelloggs Rickey Henderson ($5-$15 or more) is a REALLY nice card, semi 3D look, compared to the super zoom-in photo of 1981 topps which has an ugly design anyways. Those kelloggs cards are weather sensitive and should NOT be mailed in summer & winter. Keep them inside. Anybody that cant afford some of those Kelloggs cards can buy 1986-1990 Sportflics for a similar nostalgic experience. 1990 & 91 action packed football is a COOL set especially the 90All Madden set BUT the blue paint OFTEN peels off around the edges on the madden set. 2001 & 02 archives reserve (refractors) of various RC cards look AMAZING and once had a 1975 Brett & Yount and i like the refractor version SOOOOOO much better and for a FEW bucks apiece not hundreds! Topps/Fan should go refractor for the 1986 football set, not just rookie cards.
I don’t know what set will be valuable but I do see a future where the PSA Set Registry App gets more popular in the future and can drive prices on obscure sets. From a business standpoint it makes a lot of sense for PSA to put more marketing into that feature of their business. We will see just a theory.

Great conversation today guys! I enjoy this collaboration.
Nice Panini Prizm Pump! 👏👏👏

I agree but only of the top tier players and only numbered cards.
Of the 10’s, 2012 Prizm. Of the 20’s I think Noir has a pretty nice shot to be looked back on fondly
Even with the terrible quality issues on most the cards? Chipping, bad corners, surface indentions.
topps now cards (anything thats unwanted now could/will be popular in the future)

2017 Topps Chrome UCL
Content is solid. Sound quality is tough though.
Thank you, we noticed some feedback on the mic and made an adjustment at the 12 minute mark
That next hot set is not a card but Sports Illustrated magazine’s..newsstands are far more rare and create a hunt
Yes yes yes my favorite podcast
