Carter is definitely a “less is more” drummer. That piece of music at the beginning was gutsy to play in an arena where most artists were likely showing off their chops. Stay with your voice.
the first thing i thought was "omg this is going to convince the people at Sweetwater to sell Istanbul Agops!" - Carter has THE BEST sounds in every department, touch, tuning, dynamics, cymbals...
sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@Kendrick Killian instablaster ;)
@Brennan Vivaan I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Brennan Vivaan it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
@Kendrick Killian Happy to help =)
If I was young, and I'm not, this man, Carter McLean, is who I would be spending my drumming time and dime with. Lord only knows how many days I have left, and there is still so much to learn, and I'm only speaking of drumming right now! Thanks and Blessings!!!
It is refreshing to hear that even awesome drummers like Carter also hum and make guttural noises while they're playing. Makes me feel better about my own unintelligible grunting while I play.
Hahaha seriously!
THE most relaxed drummer on earth.
Fantastic 🥂
I'm self tought the moument i learn how to use a android cel phone and watch all the drums videos i been learning all i can even doing practice videos even if I am 67 years old
Nice, keep rocking.
Man!!!!! This is art !!! À true master . My favorites drummers : Will Kennedy and carter McLean .
uno de los bateristas más musicales que he escuchado....
This guy would make music with trash can lids. Amazing feel and touch. I'm going through his book right now. Great stuff.
That first song is magical. Love it.
When it sounds good it’s is good 🔥🥁🔥 thx for a excellent lesson on musicality and technic..Big fan from Denmark here 🇩🇰
Carter plays jazz beautifully I wish he would
Play more of it.
55:22 He’s a Monster. Only he can do that and call it boring.
36:50 to hear him talk about the bass drum
Loved what I just watched and heard very useful and grove some I heard you mention Zach Danziger I went to LaGuardia High School with him back in 85 Great drummer
Benny, Carter, Jonathan Barber, these 3 guys are my main inspiration. But if I had to pick one vibe I wanna reach, it’s definitely Carter! So niiiice!
6:45 that de crescendo on the kick
THis dude's feel has changed my thinking. I thank you for the opportunity to make less=more
I love this guy
I'm now a fan of Carter
So musical!
Man, I was thinking...., this dude is just on another level intellectually, and I'm never going to be able grasp his approach and technique. But the moment he was not sure what a kaleidoscope was called, or that the audience had no idea and he therefore had to explain it, it gave me hope that I might actually be able to learn this stuff; after years of practicing of course. Thanks for being moderately intelligent, Carter!
The best drummer
Very cool lesson.
That kick drum!
Carter has the spirit of Jeff Porcaro...if you dont know what that means, now you have an aim in your life...understand what I just said!
Steel dan Goucho 😎😎
This type of comment makes me completely uninterested in what you just said. Lmao. You just sound desperate.
Lol what
Cringe
No ge doesn't. Pocara was a giant who played on everybody's records. This guy is good but he is no Jeff and hasn't really done that much when compared to the likes of JP
So good
It’s a shame Carter and Jeff Porcaro had never met. They would be besties , I’d wager …
His sound and playing reminds me of Joe Morello.
Carter is as intense as D.F. Wallace with the "does that make sense" inquiries! Great lesson though.
I see Carter Mclean I like
The 3 patterns are a lot harder than appears especially when adding accents.
Very cool
32:14 the percussions from Predator !
11:19 Lion King groove.
“My new favourite head is...” ???
And i’m still waiting for sweetwater to sell me your signature sticks good sir
I love the Macster, Takes care of business. What was that blurred thing?
super coooooool
silvana estrada wow that needs to he released!
Champions League of drumming
11:19 Lion King Beat!
I'm trying really hard to learn from Carter, he is more of the drummer I aspire to be before I die, and I found it so late in my life. It's hard, but Im trying. The only bummer is that so many drummers now sound just....bad, honestly or at least not as rad as I used to think they were.
Well, before Keith, Gary Novak had that bass drum sound, and way before Gary, all those funky drummers* had that sound, it's like they were all playing funk music with a Be-Bop drums, and I think that it's what it was.
*drummers for James Brown, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, Motown, and so on...
So at 10:20 am I the only one who hears straight up Bernard Purdie come in and say: "lemme splain somthin"
Not explain! SPLAIN! 😁
Can you do these left hand groves using a traditional grip
genius
Is that Bent Knee music?
are we going to be seeing the benny greb clinic anytime soon?
Auto-tune at 15:50... busted!
Does anybody know what the tune is called that he is playing along to in the beginning?
❤️🔥🤙🍍🙏
Sixth sense
Did anyone catch which Ludwig's these are?
Ludwig Club Dates! Seven ply maple/poplar/maple shells with the classic Imperial Lugs. I have the "original" kit these were based off from the sixties, and lemme tell ya, both versions pack a punch. Knowing Carter the sizes on these are more than likely 12/14/20, the Downbeat sizes. Looks like he's using two Club Date snares as well
@@ryanwilson5782 thanks Ryan Wilson. Truly awesome kit.
You would think that Sweetwater would want to plug as much of the gear as they can in the video. Links to buy in the description and all. But what do I know?
Send me a copy of the music you used in the example
What happens when you're lefty but you playing your drums like your right handed i get confused or mixed up sometime it gets you down
The only thing is to keep practiceing alot maybe may problems is i don't read music every druming i do is by hearings ,seeing and practice alot or when ever i can
If you're playing right handed then just play exactly what the right handed people play.
Less is more !
Whoever down thumbed this video is a bad musician.
I am also not in line with a negative vote, but why do not let other people having the right to have a different opinion?
@@sinus-institut I mean, people definitely have the right to a different opinion, it just also means they have a bad opinion and probably listen to bad music made by bad musicians.
Super teacher, great touch and sound.
But i hate people who have a ridiculous technique and obviously worked on it half of their life, and after say it's a waste of time.
Without her he'll not be here.
I' d pay not to listen him talking
Idk why u clicked on this video then lmfao
He Great in Technique He sucks in Attitude He is a Pompous over Gratulation of himself Good you know these Techniques But Man Talk to us or with us NOT AT US Its Like your have this Over intelligent shit over us Pions. I've been very Successful Professional drummer over 45 Years Movie Scores Advertisements Clubs Played with Jackie McLean Richie Groovin Holmes Many others and Recorded But I'm always willing to learn New exciting things especially from you younger People, In Fact, It Thrills my heart to know You are taking our Craft seriously Carrying on traditions But Man I'm pointing this out because I believe it's not deliberate in fact I believe your not aware of it even /Other than that Carry on Your Sensational.
He is very clean cut and dry but I'm not sure if he is pompous. It does seem like that but I think its professionalism or shyness
Thats out of line. Jealousy?
Yeah, I think that was just your perception. He does not by any means seem like he is coming across that way. If anything, he is basically just saying he does what he does and doesn’t try to do crazy stuff because other people are better than him. I think he was just trying to get his point across of working on the useful things
