Thank you! The first and third combos start with higher damage starters, I think the main culprit of the high damage right now is Flurry (the df.H then mash H) does a lot of damage at min scaling. I don't think these combos are entirely practical beyond the first so the damage feels appropriate. For reference too, Judgement Cut End (The first super) does 180k unscaled at any point of the combo which is fairly low for a super.
He looks so fun! it almost looks like playing DMC5 on a 1 to 1 comparison, not even vanilla UmVC3 dante looks this faithful to the game. He also looks broken as balls lmao, but Vergil not being broken wouldnt feel fine, it just has to be.
This is dope af-like pretty much every nodded character that's been done here. Though I'm definitely wondering at what kind of power level they're going to stay around because whilst at first it felt cool trying to implement customs with our current teams to make some fun teams, the power level to so many of these characters feels like it's less of an expansion to the core cast but more of an entire replacement. Still fire though, and loving it all
@@pochoboto yeah, tiers - it feels like the general strength of a lot of the custom characters are right up there to the point that a lot of the used cast could potentially feel entirely invalidated if the custom characters all have general capabilities that most of the cast don't. A lot of these modded chars can loop their own supers with relative ease and while it feels great, it doesn't even feel like hitstun scaling has an effect on half of what they do to the same degree that a lot of the real cast does. I'm just curious to see if there'll be a slight toning down overall or something down the line, or if they're going to continue making characters feel like they'd top a tier list. Either way, it's a fantastic mod and I'm lovin it all.
@@PrimeKeroHS tabs one of the modders not this one, said that he relatively doesn't care about the balance of the characters though he chooses not to pass the morrigan/zero barrier. These characters are meant to have fun with and not change the overall meta. Besides from the modded teams I've seen so far, not much seem to be replacing tier 1 teams such as zmc or morridoomverg.
This is cool and all, but can anyone honestly say they'd actually have fun going up against this? He can 100-0 with even fewer resources than regular Vergil, and the hitboxes are so big & last so long that it's pretty much suicide to use Assists against him.
Having actually played DMC5 Vergil in matches against someone, yes. He plays entirely differently from regular Vergil, he's much slower overall and plays more around the Judgement Cut charge and navigation using teleports to retreat and play more defensively, and much like regular Vergil he has very poor defensive options up close. I can promise you won't be hitting most of the combos you see in the videos I've posted so far considering how challenging they are, his damage tends to top out at a pretty average amount, especially from the types of hits he gets.
Itd be pretty cool if he still had his original Lvl 3 as well I know DT is his new Lvl 3, but just for the sake of styling they put it on top like for example You have 5 bars, pop DT, and then combo your quickest into getting that 3rd bar
The premise is that while RT is out, Vergil can't gain, but more importantly can't lose his held charge, though in this case of Judgement Cut rather than RT. I do st.H, H follow up which both have a PJC cancel window with such a timing that it overlaps and by double releasing (in this case) L, you can chain two PJCs. It's a glitch (and a super sick one at that), but Kave said he can't fix it due to how the game still recognises Vergil's RT as the held charge special while it's out.
It's his hold a button charge move instead of Round Trip, once you let go, you instantly rehold the button, then you tap another button just before the orb hits each time and you can cancel the third in to perfect judgement cut
I know this are combos, but since you seem to know the moveset enough, do you think he has the tools to open up a real oponent? A friend played with cyclops and we realized that at a high level, it's near impossible to open up anyone with him. Do you think this vergil has the same problem?
Firstly, I want you to know I appreciate you trying out the characters first to really get a feel for them. I haven't played DMC5 Vergil in a match yet and I might not play him too much since I play regular Vergil, and much like DMC1 Dante the muscle memory screws me up badly. From speculation, I think this version is a defensive powerhouse since he has great space control options in tracking JC and stationary RT, options to move in the air and Deep Stinger goes through projectiles. His only real cross ups are rdp.M which is quite telegraphed and Rapid Slash, which has been made slower so his mixup game is certainly weaker. I'm also curious to see how efficient DT is since it stops all meter gain for 20+ seconds which can really screw you up.
So from what Ik Vergil/Dante MU is (like the game) 5/5 with Vergil having longer X factor and damage and Dante having better meter gain and, how I say, “cover your ass” options. So what’s the MU between DMC1 Dante and DMC5 Vergil?
I have a question. For the first combo after the lunar phase (bold cancel) helm breaker. You do normal judgement cut and the 2 follow ups. How do you charge partition long enough for the perfect judgement cut charge that’s done after wards. Do you delay casting the follow up JCs? And obviously you have to hold a different button than the H used for the follow ups
Good question. You need to release and immediately rehold (in this case) L, then time the H,H,H and with a slightly delayed release of L, you have enough time for the PJC. Later is a combo this gets much, much tighter however. It is one of his more challenging things to get down but it's worth it as it opens up a lot of route extensions.
Pretty much yeah, you should see the install bar show up above Vergil's meter after his heavies or certain specials, you let go of it while you have a charge held during that point.
I'm not going to do the usual and spout a bunch of buzzwords; that's not my style, but what I will do is say how funny it is that I barely saw anyone play him in the mod streams or tournaments since the release. The only person I saw playing him was terrible with him. Didn't he also have Bold Move in this moveset?
To give people credit, DMC5 Vergil is extremely complicated and quite intimidating to learn for a tournament setting, especially for people who are only entering for purely fun. He also wasn't on a lot of hosted servers since he's over slot 1
For context, I hold L for the charge inputs. After the Helm Breaker, you need to let go of and IMMEDIATELY re-hold L, (you can use any button but I prefer to) press H,H,H with the required timing then let go of L again just as the third orb hits. It's definitely harder than it looks, I'm still yet to get fully consistent with it.
Not a stupid question at all - I play mostly on an XBOne pad but they wear down too easily, so I've gone back to a 360 pad starting from the Vergil videos.
If other characters haven't been banned from play (which will never happen in this game) I don't see how a combo video makes you think this character will.
@@glass4624 There are “no Vergil” tournaments that you can search up, you can do your own research on that. More importantly, nobody wants to play against a character like this - an even more broken version of an SS tier character.
I've not personally encountered those types of tournaments but I'll take your word for it. At a competitive level however, characters won't be banned. I do want to reiterate my point that judging whether a character is broken or not from a combo video without trying them is rash.
That's true, but the benefit here is that not every character is imbalanced and imbalance is not unique to mods. You're judging how a character is from a combo video without (presumably) having tried them or seen them in action. Secondly, the mods are released with the intention of being 'officially' added to tournament play.

I've got the timing down to release it as early as possible, with the exception of JC x3, PJC which requires a slight delay

He certainly can. Optimal Lightning Loops do about 580k so he can definitely kill all characters solo, let alone with assists.
