Not sure if you did but you need to make those copper arrows. They are a heck of a lot better then flint arows. Also don't buy the gear upgrade from the traitor. Once you are able to open the Shrines you are given the formulas.

for the Herms - if you found one of them just go the way they look...
their will be a better armor...
the Gorgons i shoot with Steel- or Fire Arrows (i collect all the steel i can get)...
