I have seen several comments with people suggesting Cousin Itt! No worries... he has already been made. He was a gift to me from another miniature friend and you can see him in one of the final photos of the all the family members so far (at the end of the video). I would never leave out Cousin Itt and he will even be getting his own room ;) I should have mentioned him in the video but forgot.
I LOVE DOLLS in My DOLLHOUSES!! Over the years finding the right kind of doll with the look I wanted has been a PAIN. Which is why I believe many people don't like dolls. THE KEY is the RIGHT DOLL! YOU nailed it on this project!!!
Okay, when you started with the Pugsley wig, I about fell over laughing at those long upright tufts! But, DANG, woman: by the time you were finished, I was a believer. You always teach me something new, Ara - and I love it! Thank you for the tip about mohair + superglue, too. Super helpful. Can't WAIT to see the rest of the family! 😍💗😍
Thank you Heather! haha the hair ALWAYS looks crazy along the way. I had to learn not to panic and believe it would get better! The mohair was surprisingly difficult to work with. I suggest viscose all the way when possible. Luckily her hair is supposed to be an out of control mess so it works ;)
I love dolls in the houses . Just by repositioning them or give them something to do like grandma in your picture you create a whole new scene. Love your Addams family , especially your attention to detail.
So fun to watch the process of bringing the final product to fruition. You understand where you’re going with it and I need to trust that you know what you’re doing! As you were dirtying Grandmama’s apron I thought, “ Uh oh... too much!!!” But as it dried it was perfect! Haha! Love it! Your intricate knowledge of the characters and their story is fun too. I grew up with the Addams family but I didn’t really follow it, so you are my educator on the topic and I find it fascinating. I smile at the idea that Grandmama always looked like she’d been rolling around in the ashes. What a visual!
It is fascinating to watch these characters seemingly come to life. They complete the house almost magically! I am pro doll. I like using Tim Holtz vintage paper dolls in my backgrounds, but I always end up with dolls...with names and little stories about them and their other family members. It’s a fun escape from reality! 😂😂😂 I never grew up, I guess. Thank goodness😏 I almost snort laughed seeing Pugsly in the electric chair! The scenes are priceless. Better than the movie even!
I never grew up either!! Its the best way to live lol ;) Thank you so much and I love the idea of paper dolls too! There are some really cool ones out there💖
I love your channel. I have no desire to make miniatures and I haven't had a doll in about 15 years, but I find myself rewatching your videos daily. I enjoy your passion for your hobby. Thanks for sharing.
You know, the dolls are really putting your project over the edge. How perfect, with the dolls, your house really tells the story. I’m so looking forward to next video❤️love your work
Love what you did with grandma ma. A great transformation especially on the hair. You always teach us something new. I can't wait for the rest especially Morticia.
I love these dolls!! Brilliant techniques that I'll be using. Since I do houses, I can't imagine the houses not having a little family inside. For me, the little family just brings the whole project together. I'm excited to see the rest of your Addams family!
Thank you Rachael! It's so interesting to hear everyone's different opinions on dolls but each opinion makes total sense! But you are right that sometimes it totally depends on what time of building you might be creating as well!
Love the dolls and how closely they resemble the family members. I think appropriate dolls add so much to miniature settings and give the human factor that otherwise would be missing. Your work is always well done and I have learned so much watching your videos!
I am definitely a doll person They make the scene come alive! You did fantastic on your dolls! Great job! My mom made my dolls for my dollhouse and then sculptured dolls all different kinds and sizes. I love dolls in general!
Thank you so much Delores! How special to have dolls made by your mom! I hope to pass off some of my own to my daughter someday (if she wants them lol)
They came out amazingly!!! Love how you took an old project doll and made it creepy and perfect to fit Gran mama's personality. She came out beautifully. Each doll is better than the one before it. I'm so excited to see how Wednesday will turn out as well as Gomez and Mortecia
I feel like you have really good instinct when it comes to reusing your resources. And your trials and errors have made you that much better. So keep up the great work and always trust your gut 😉👍
You did great Ara!!! Love Pugsly and Grandmama! If the dolls feel natural and not like mannequins in a doll house, I like them. Love yours because of your finishing techniques they look more real and definitely fit as the Addams family members!
Thank you so much June! I appreciate that so much. I am definitely glad that I decided to make them myself now that I am seeing they are matching with the style and colors of the house. I would have hated to spend money on someone else making them and then not feel like they fit.
Hi The new Puglsey is great. Doing the shirt made a lot of sense. Very smart idea on redoing the other doll for Grandmama she looks great. I like your dolls. Thanks again for the ideas.
Wow! Fantastic job, I enjoy watching all of your videos but the doll making is great. I don't make miniatures but I enjoy looking at them and I like dolls with miniatures that are "classics "!
Your choices were spot on. I particularly love Grandmama. She's perfect. You idea about how to trim Pugsly's t-shirt was brilliant. I have to remember that for my next project. I love you creativity and attention to detail
I like dolls in my projects too. Grandmama looks awesome, but Pugsley? He is perfect! You outdid yourself on his face. Great job! I like Cousin Itt too. He's adorable.
To me the question of dolls in miniature settings really comes down to the project, itself. Like a doll in one of the Thorne Rooms just wouldn't look right. I have a 1/12th Watson figurine (I cannot remember the name of the artist) that I use as "The Colonel" in my English cottage, with his souvenirs from all his adventures. I have a beautiful Miss Marple made by Marcia Blackstrom but she has never looked right in any of my settings. She resides in a glass dome on my bookshelf. But like in your case, your Addams dollhouse is like a 3-d painting and your dolls have that same artistic aesthetic, so they are working wonderfully together.
Great point of view Rob! I can't imagine a doll looking right in my Coffee Shop. There is so much realism and detail that a porcelain doll would look really out of place. And I love to think about the Addams house as a 3D painting! Shadows and dust come free of charge lol!

Your videos always give me steam to continue with my personal project! Thank you so much! Your progress is always inspiring and fun to watch! Much love! 🥰🥰🥰 Hope everyone is having a good one 💕
I start with the dolls, and then create the houses and buildings for them. Whenever I have a doll, I never want to display them alone. I want to give them a world where they live. To me, a dollhouse is not complete without someone living in it. ❤
They are great! I personally do not like dolls in my scenes. I do have one, Father Christmas in my Christmas room box. I made him an exception as he is more of a mythical creature. My daughter thinks miniature dolls are "creepy looking" (when they aren't meant to be) and a doll artist told me that's because the right doll wasn't used. Your dolls fit perfectly with the house and will give it so much personality. Can't wait to see the rest of the family!
My sister find the dolls creepy too... all dolls lol. I agree with you that it is probably a scene by scene decision on whether a doll will work or not ;)
Whee! Another great Ara techniques lesson. Thank you! I like the idea of a doll or two in the average dollhouse. The Addams Family Mansion is not an average dollhouse. I have picked up about 6 possible dolls for my haunted dollhouse and none of them is a really good fit. I am totally overthinking this one. Will pick one and make it work already. Love your projects, Ara!
Thank you Linda!! Oh yes I understand the feeling that something is just not working the way it is. I usually find I can add a little paint and make it my own and it feel a little less alien to my project. I hope you can make one of those work for you!
I think it depends on the quality of the doll moreso how much they resemble the character . These have all turned out really great the whole project just keeps getting better and better !
Great video, with great results (as usual!). As for dolls, as a rule I don't care for them EXCEPT when they are specific characters with specific personalities, such as your. Usually there is no real difference between a housemaid, a duchess and a governess except their clothes. But you have captured the essence of each of these known quantities so well that they will be the stars on the backdrop of your house. Though the process has been reversed, it appears that you created the house to suit the dolls. Darn - I will stop gushing now and go back to admiring your work. PS I will also dream of finding inhabitants for my Grand Obsession that replicate my family in 1941!
Thank you so much George! I appreciate your kind words so much💖💖 I can imagine it would be much more difficult to create interesting dolls if you did not have the characteristics as flushed out as well known characters. What a fantastic idea to have replicas of your family!! And a daunting task!
@@BentleyHouseMinis - Daunting to say the least.......My family was just as weird as the Addams, but in the "opposite" direction, if that makes sense! On top of which, there were almost a score of them, so it would be like modeling an entire busload of disparate and unique (!!) personalities.............a few of which should probably not be recreated for the sake of world peace lol
Hi Ara again I'm late watching but I enjoyed it. My favorite part is when you apply the hair. You make it look so easy. They all look amazing in the house. 👏👏 Love it!
Thank you Anna! Once you get the order of laying the hair down straight in your head its not too bad... but its definitely a step by step process (and takes longer than it seems in the edited video lol)
Your dolls are amazing, very well done. When I watched the show growing up, my favorite was Cousin It. To answer your question, I have dolls in my doll houses. Many times I find a doll or two & build or renovate a house to suit the dolls. I have a collection of vintage dolls & American Girl dolls. The American Girl dolls have a large community in my basement. I get a little carried away with my hobby, but it's a very effective stress reducer. Looking forward to your next doll.
What a great idea to let a doll inspire a project! I have a couple that I have inherited that might work in that respect! And I agree Cousin Itt is amazing!! That's why i need to build him his own room ;)
They are so nice Ara. I still have no idea that I saw grandma when I was young and the photo's are not making my memory any better. It doesn't matter, she looks great. I'am always suprised that the black is not so black when it is dry. There is a lot of water mixed with the paint, but still I always think: o what a black colour.
Thank you Marjan! She really didn't have very much screen time in any version of the Addams so it makes sense that you would remember her the least ;) Yes its hard to really know how dark the black is until it dries a bit lol ;)
You had me going there with your "long strip of rectangular fabric" Ara, until the penny dropped and I realised you meant a long, rectangular strip of fabric lol! It doesn't take much to overload my confusion circuits ! I was going to tell you that I found nail art flocking powder pretty good for doing extremely short haircuts. You get in in millions of colours and most of my Figma Archetype figures had it before your, and a couple of other, tutorials, overcame my 12th scale wigging fears! Pugsly is perfect! His face and hair are just the way he appears in my imagination. I can't wait for grandmama because I want to do a witch and Miss Periwinkle and Grandmama are going to be who I try to model the older witches face on. You have to have 3 you know, the maid, the mother and the crone in witchcraft literature. The crone is personified by Hecate but I don't want her as grim as That!
I think you know my answer about dolls in a doll house or anywhere... BUT I love seeing you create them. What a fun video and a long way you have come. Great job! I think the most interesting part to me is how you put on their hair Haha.
Wow Ara, you have so much more patience than me. I've always had trouble working with fabric in my miniatures and have pretty much given up on using it. You make it look so easy. So far I've steered away from using dolls in my work (in large part because of the use of fabric) but I never say never
I still feel like a struggle with it quite a lot at times. It never wants to do exactly what I want it to do lol😄 But I feel like I am learning how to tame it more and more with each doll lol!
Yer a wizard, Ara! They're all looking so amazing! I'm not one for dolls in my dollshouse myself, but I do have one living there. 12 rooms, one doll. :P Reason being my 4 year old niece who comes to play with the house.
Thank you Solveig! How sweet of you to provide a doll for your niece to play in your project ;) My sister hates dolls and would refuse to keep them in her home for my kiddos lol ;) She compensates for that with all sorts of other goodies 😄
Wow, they turned out so great! And I love seeing them in the house, esp, Pugsley on the stairs... I love dolls in miniature houses, but they have to be full of character and wrinkles and so on, to really be worth it :) Boring dolls, I don't need. Yours are so charming, I love the way you paint the faces... I also really like Margaret from the movies, with her wild bouffant... you have Cousin It, if you want to do her, and baby What, that would be so fun too... if you're looking for more to make :)
Thank you Jillian! I appreciate your kind words about my family members ;) I loved Margaret too but I am not sure she would fit will in the mini room I plan to make for Itt lol. And I do have a little "What" so hmm... maybe Margaret should be somewhere lol! Her hair would be crazy to try and figure out!
I love the scenes where you feel like the "characters" just left or are just about to return. However, to satisfy the childhood Barbie player in me, I do have dolls that I pose when I'm trying to get a "scene" worked out in my head. And since you asked, I'd love to see the movie's Joan Cusack's character represented. Maybe a smooshed meatloaf or a forgotten gauzy shoulder wrap?
Thank you Cindy! The best thing I ever did was take a doll making class from Sandra. I don't know if there are any mini shows near to you but a class is the best investment for learning techniques. These dolls would not look like this without Sandra's initial guidance!
@@BentleyHouseMinis You're welcome sadly I have never seen classes for doll making here but will look into it once I decide if that is direction Im really serious about.
@@BentleyHouseMinis I am working on my own doll's house as I was inspired by yours but mine is just a shop with a house connected to it but thank you for the inspiration
Thank you Macen! I have linked Sandra Stacey's website in the description which will take you to her website that has kits available. OR you can probably search porcelain dollhouse doll kit. There are a few doll artists out there that will sell the raw parts. I hope that helps!
All the dolls are turning out awesome. I personally think that depending on the project, some are great without dolls and others are better with. Also when is your next prompts video?
That is very true! I can't imagine a doll on my abandoned coffee shop but it works for the Addams Family. The next prompt video will probably be around the end of this month I am guessing ;)
they turned out perfect! I have a no but yes kind of things for dolls to the dollhouse, as many of the dolls I have seen is ugly, and the once that is really cool are always really expensive.. And as I alread y makes so many different things, then I reslly don't have time for that to
When I painted the face for "mini-me" in my studio diorama room box, I matched the skin color to my favorite foundation. I was also unhappy with the brush strokes, so I went back over the face with watered-down acrylic paint in the same color and that smoothed things out nicely. *shrug* it worked (this time LOL)
When I've watched doll repaint videos a lot of artists use Mr super clear fixative, watercolor pencils, and pastel pencils . Maybe those mediums could work for future dolls that you may make. 🤔
They turned out amazing! You are such an artist! The only thing Pugsley is missing is some dirty hands, you know? Kids usually have dirty hands, and especially Pugsley after playing with dynamite somewhere, lol 😂
Hi, Ara! I'd love to have a doll in my projects. However, there's no such miniaturing products or dolls in my country. I'd have to make it from scratch (so far I couldn't) or purchase it from international sites (too expensive). :(
I'm from Brazil. We don't have this miniaturing culture, except for the Polly doll, which is expensive too, by the way... Have you ever seen the Silvanian Family kits? I love them. But.... they are way too expensive (at least for me! LOL)
I have a lot of subscribers from Brazil so I am surprised there is not many miniature supplies available there. I think there would definitely be a market. I have seen the Sailvanian family and they are expensive here in the states too! If I hear of any Brazilian miniature shops/artists I will let you know ;)
I love having dolls in a project because it comes to life. But it depends on the project. I think dolls are great for a dollhouse. It gives you the ability to change the scene in any room. But they may not be good for a room boxes. I really like this segment on dolls because I am thinking about retiring my vinly dolls from the 70's mom & daughter are bald. Does vinly shrink? You are doing a great job with dolls. I can't wait for the next characters. I have one question are you going to make It and Thing? Best wishes as always.🤗👍❣
Great point Michelle! It can definitely depend on the project ;) Best of luck rehabbing your dolls... its a lot of fun! I have Cousin Itt that was given to my by a friend (you can see him in the family photo at the end of the video) and I already made Thing a LONG time ago... but I might remake him as well (like original Pugsley, he's a little rough lol)
Wait what... 3 members left, so you will not make cousin Itt? :( Pugsley looks great spot on! and im looking forward to see how you do Morticia's skin tight dress. Carolyn Jones was my favorite actress and represantation of this character, beautiful and elegant :)
Cousin Itt was made for me by a friend and you can see him in the pictures toward the end of the video ;) I could never forget Cousin Itt!! ;) He will even be getting his own room in the mansion. I think I love Carolyn Jones and Angelica Huston equally... both did amazing jobs with her character. And yes I am a little scared of the skin tight dress lol!
I have seen several comments with people suggesting Cousin Itt! No worries... he has already been made. He was a gift to me from another miniature friend and you can see him in one of the final photos of the all the family members so far (at the end of the video).
Amazing dolls! I love your work I also make dolls by hand but I use alpaca fiber for the doll hair it’s an excellent fiber to use looks so natural!
they turned out great, i can't wait to see the rest of them. thanks for sharing. have a fab day.
Thank you so much Yvonne!!💖
I just love your work.
Thank you Cynthia!!💖
They look great!
Thank you Carlyn!
Thank you so much and thank you for the tip!
I think you know my answer about dolls in a doll house or anywhere... BUT I love seeing you create them. What a fun video and a long way you have come. Great job! I think the most interesting part to me is how you put on their hair Haha.
The hair is crazy lol!! It always looks really bad before it looks any kind of decent 😄
Yes.... I cannot wait to see Gomez 😍
The pressure is on for the next 3!! They are the most iconic I think! ;)
I love dolls and always put them in.
I am loving them too!
That looks great!
Thank you Patricia!
That photo of her with the shovel!
😁 I just had to!
I've been waiting all week and you never disappoint! The family is really looking amazing! Thank you for another wonderful video!
Aww thank you Catherine! I am so glad you enjoy my videos!!💖💖
Amazing as always, Ara ♡♡♡ Can't wait for the next character
Thank you Annelie! I am excited too!
And I forgot to say how lovely Grandmama turned out. I hope you took pics of her before so you have that memory.
Thank you and yes I def have pictures of her ;) At least now she will have a place to be!
Oh great idea! Or maybe a pile of ash with a few credit cards sticking out... in Festers room ;) lol!
Ara amazing job capturing their essence , Im trying doll making but no where near your level
You still have Pubert to make! 😁
And dont forget Thing. Hes the best.
You are so awesome. I would like dolls if I could make or find some that follow themes I would create.
Thank you Carol 😊 It is nice that I don't have to create characters of my own lol!
That was a very interesting iron you used. Could you tell me where you got it and what is it called
Yes no problem! I put a link in the description of the video ;)
I can't wait to see Gomez and Morticia
Thanks! I am excited to make them!
@@BentleyHouseMinis I am working on my own doll's house as I was inspired by yours but mine is just a shop with a house connected to it but thank you for the inspiration
Blown away how they came out!!!!!! Any idea where to find a doll kit?
Thank you Macen! I have linked Sandra Stacey's website in the description which will take you to her website that has kits available. OR you can probably search porcelain dollhouse doll kit. There are a few doll artists out there that will sell the raw parts. I hope that helps!
Bentley House Minis thank you so much!
And as I alread y makes so many different things, then I reslly don't have time for that to
That makes sense. I know you do the larger scale dolls too and yours are just lovely!
@@BentleyHouseMinis Well I don't make the dolls, but yes I make things for 1/6 dolls to.
That's a great tip Rachael! I can still see the strokes in Pugsley's face and it does bug me a bit!
LOL Grandma go a make under!
Haha yep!!
Hi Ara! Do you seal the chalk pastel with anything?
you should put tenticals or something wild in grandma mas pot that would be awesome
That's a great idea!!
Also baby Puberts black basinette with the knives mobile and Uncle Knick Knack in the body bag lol
Or a my personal favorite the plate of beans with an eye peaking out ..
Do you use spme kind of sealer after you use the calk pastels? I live in fear that they'll smudge or rub off of Grandmama!
Yes sorry I forgot to mention it because I go outside to use it. Its a matte spray from Krylon that is approved for use on porcelain surfaces.
I cant wait to watch
😊❤❤
I love dolls
When I've watched doll repaint videos a lot of artists use Mr super clear fixative, watercolor pencils, and pastel pencils . Maybe those mediums could work for future dolls that you may make. 🤔
What the Gary color fabric on the doll
They turned out amazing! You are such an artist! The only thing Pugsley is missing is some dirty hands, you know? Kids usually have dirty hands, and especially Pugsley after playing with dynamite somewhere, lol 😂
So true! He is always out in the yard playing with Fester so that makes sense!
impressive
I am a doll person. Were do You get your doll kits
The link to Sandra's website is in the description box below the video. She is the only person I have ever bought kits from ;)
Thank you for your time and help
Ironically I started with dolls, now I’m making a cardboard house for my itty bitty 1:12 scale bjds
Hi, Ara! I'd love to have a doll in my projects. However, there's no such miniaturing products or dolls in my country. I'd have to make it from scratch (so far I couldn't) or purchase it from international sites (too expensive). :(
I'm sorry to hear that Patricia :( Remind me of your country and if I ever hear of any good doll kits there then I will try to let you know!
I'm from Brazil. We don't have this miniaturing culture, except for the Polly doll, which is expensive too, by the way... Have you ever seen the Silvanian Family kits? I love them. But.... they are way too expensive (at least for me! LOL)
(PS: I'm sure I was born in the wrong country, because everything I love I can't find it here! LOL)
I have a lot of subscribers from Brazil so I am surprised there is not many miniature supplies available there. I think there would definitely be a market. I have seen the Sailvanian family and they are expensive here in the states too! If I hear of any Brazilian miniature shops/artists I will let you know ;)
Thank you!!
Magnífico
@@BentleyHouseMinis Silly me ^^
Now I know why people kept laughing at the hair! OMG! LOL! I l have Heidi Ott dolls in my houses.
Haha yea it always looks a bit crazy before it gets better ;)
You should make a cousin it. He would be simple you can use a clothespin shoes hands hat glasses and lots of hair
Someone made him for me as a gift ;) He is in one of the final photos at the end of the video if you want to see him.
Wish I had you skills
