1st I would like to say thank you. I have watched all your videos and you have inspired me to try to start a part time business to pay for holidays like you. I do small engine repairs as well as buy and refurbish mowers. I have been going for 3 months and am getting a steady stream of mowers to sell and repair so again thank you. I look forward to every one of your postings. I quick question what fluid do you use for your new parts washer as I have just bought one and was shocked at the co
Oh my... youtube is so freaking useful, I had the darn puller, but was using it wrong without the screw screwed into the thread so it wasn't useful! I was ready to quit and saw the video and bam! Haha. Thanks Mower Man!
Hi thanks for you comments Im glad you have got up and running. Well done. I use a product called gunk in my parts washer it is quite expensive but it does a good job and last a long time. Hope this helps.
okay I have a question. I have an MTD Ranch King. the blade adapter wings have broken off and the adapter itself is rusted fast to the shaft. I've tried a gear puller but u fortunately there isn't enough material left for the puller to grip. Any ideas?
I own a lawnmower with that same blade adapter and it will not come off. I sprayed it with penatrating oil and it still won't budge. How long of a bolt should I use? What type of head should it have? Does it matter where I put the claws of the puller on the blade adapter?
I just had to cut mine off. Then when I finally got it off. the key was like welded into the grove. had to smash that out also . One big hassle . but at least now it is all off and i can separate the crankcase and see what is going on with the rings . I need a new boss and key , not sure if it will be worth it , with this bodgey $10 mower .
As the Boss will no doubt be quite rusty, it's better to cut it off with a Grinder..very carefully, as the Shaft should'nt be scored. Off to the Mower shop you go to purchase a new Boss....
Tony Crossley as suggested , getting a new boss can be very difficult. If you are worried use seafoam deep creep penetrating spray before pulling it off.
I tried this on a flymo mower the blade boss was made of what seemed like a hard plastic, didn't work just cracked the lip of the blade boss, spent ours cutting with dremmel
That was NOT a stuck blade boss . If it was the whole shaft would have been turning when you are tightening it up. If they were all that easy to get off , we would not be here looking for answers. Show us how you get one off that is really stuck on.
Life is so much better with UA-cam , it’s like having an expert dad that knows everything.
Thank you for this excellent video.
paul meynell haha cheers Paul
I BEEN LOOKING FOR A "HOW TOO " FOR AGES ON HOW TO BET THE BOSS PLATE OFF MY MOWER , SO PLEASED I FOUND YOUR UA-cam
Welcome along!
Fantastic for me. I've spent all afternoon with the cutting deck on my workbench trying to get the bosses free. THANK YOU SIR
Same here, but now its 9PM and no one i know has i puller.

great video, very clear! I can't wait to try this on my cracked adapter.
Awesome. That really helped speed up the process!
Glad I could be of some use.
Do you think this would work on a Hayter friction disc my Hayter 56 is really jammed and am unable to shift
Great video! Wonder why you said 'two jaw not three jaw puller'????
Do you have a video on how to sharpen a blade?
Great videos I have just subscribed

Got a Hilka three way 4" Gear Puller at Screwfix. £11. Worked a treat on my Viking MB655. Thanks for great video. Do you deal a lot with Vikings?
What size bolt was that?

First view yay
Try doing this with a 20 or even 10 year old rusty shaft. You are looking at about 1 ton of pressure. Forget it!

Good video, but I think your flies are undone...
