Discovered this channel a few months back - I'm so pleased you are sticking with it - keep going, what you are doing here has that certain undefinable quality that makes it a pleasure to watch. Well done & thank you!
My view, for what it's worth in the grand scheme of things, is that if the old quarry could be put to good use without having a major impact in the surroundings AND it creates jobs whilst bringing in money to the local economy, then it gets my vote. If it's not used, then it will become a wild swim/tombstoning place. And we all know how dangerous that can be. I love that drone view and the heart. It definitely looks inviting. As for my thoughts on a brew with a view, I think it is a great idea. I love the chat to camera. I know you are talking to thousands of us, but it's like you are talking to us individually if that makes sense. Awe, poor Em. Having your wisdom teeth out as an adult is a general anaesthetic, so she would feel rough afterwards. I hope you are feeling better, Em. I love that mug you got for Christmas. In fact, I want one. I'm definitely going to have to Google that. Unless it is a local craft shop to you, then it's a long drive unless they have a website. I'm going to have to disagree with you on one point, though. I'm definitely on the Custard Cream side. But original Custard Cream, not some weird filling. I'm sorry it has taken so long to watch your vlog, but I completed the Edale Skyline Challenge a week ago, and I've done nothing but ache and sleep since. I even lost my toenail of my big toe, left foot. 21.69 miles 14hrs 49mins. The average speed was only 1.5 mph. My usual rate is 1.8 mph, but by the time I finished, I was dead on my feet. Physically and mentally exhausted. But as always, I watched from beginning to end. You put so much effort into making these vlogs that it deserves to be watched start to finish. I hate the YT skip through rate. It can be disheartening. But if only 1% is watching 100% of the vlog you can bet it's me. Anyway, rambling now. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week. But definitely keep these vlogs going. They get my vote.
Yoooo Chris was wondering when you were stopping by :D Even Em said "I didn't see Chris in the comments hope hes alright" haha we knew you would have been working the hills though! Good on you for completing the Edale Skyline, 20+ miles regardless of time is a big effort considering the elevation you would have gained throughout those miles. They will have been 20 hard ones! Also filming for almost 15 hours is tough going on the old batteries never mind our bodies haha. Em's alright now, i will get her to swing by and say hi, think shes craving the outdoors again after being out of action for a few weeks. Honestly Chris, the longer i do UA-cam and the older i get, the more that 1% means to me so know that i appreciate you returning each time to see how i'm doing! It wouldn't be a jack a snacks upload without Chris Bentleys name appearing somewhere below it.
@jackasnacks that's kind. Thank you. To be honest, I've mostly been sleeping and taking painkillers. Today, being able to actually walk without being in agony was great. My UA-cam watch list is never this long, so I know I've been out of sorts. So I had to prioritise. I came here first. I'm glad Em is better. It will be great to see you both out there again. You two just seem to click on the Trail. It's great to have someone to hike with that has the same love for the outdoors as you. I'm going to bandage my nailless toe and get out this week. It's been 8 days since I did that hike, and I'm itching to get out there, too. I've just bought a titanium 750ml pot and an oex mini burner and a small calor as I was thinking of a brew with a view or doing a review on those overpriced dehydrated meals. Just branch out a bit. I don't like my old face on-screen, but there has been a call for me to do more 'to camera' stuff. So I took just a bog standard selfie stick with a tripod that Amanda found in a charity shop. So I can't walk with it as there is no gimbal, but at least I can do the panoramic with my head in the way. I don't understand why they want to see an old git on camera, but who am I to argue. My Edale Skyline vlog is 40 minutes, so tell Em to bring popcorn. As much as I try to cut down the length of vlogs, I feel I cut too much out, and it loses context if that makes sense? But as I'll never get a new car or a villa in Spain out of UA-cam, then I may as well do it my way. If nothing else, it gives me something to look back on in my old age. You would say I'm old now, but watch out, life has a way of zipping by fast. 8-10 miles is about it from now on. Well, until my next bucket list challenge. I never thought I'd be able to do the Extended Crowden Horseshoe, but I did. I never thought that I'd be able to do the Edale Skyline Challenge, but I did. Who knows what's next. But this week, I want to revisit a Trig I've been to several times purely because it is surrounded by Heather. It will be spectacular. I want to see it before the colours fade. Thank you both for thinking about me. I really do appreciate that.
Yayy he’s here! Been wondering where you’ve been. I was thinking the same about my UA-cam watch list I’ve been away with my family and then been a bit off with the wisdom teeth thing so I’ve not watched a lot! That hike sounds tough so absolutely we’ll done for that, even though it does take it out of you the feeling of accomplishment is great! 😊 Hopefully won’t be much longer until my face pops up on the channel again. Definitely need the outdoors, good for the soul!
@emmanelles8537 this has only just appeared on my notifications for some reason. I'm glad you are feeling better Em. I haven't been out for over a week. I need that mountain air. Take care Em and I'll see you on the next vlog.
Thanks so much for sharing your hike. Haven't had any time this summer for any of my own. It's beautiful country you have there. Would love to see it some day in person.
Hi Jack, well I made it to the end!!, and what a great explore it was. The backdrop to your brew was absolutely magnificent, it really was👌👌 Best wishes for Emm, not much fun having wisdom teeth out, I had one taken out and the dentist said afterwards that there was a hidden middle root that he hadn't seen on the x-ray, if he'd known he said he wouldn't have tackled it, it knocked me for six!! Hope to see you out soon Emm!! Sorry to hear about your dog, I'm glad he's feeling better now make the most of your time together! Just got back from a few days in the UK London and Portsmouth, it was rainy, cloudy and cool a great relief, today we will be at about 44°!! Aah those ferns, made many a bivouac from them in my scouting days. I read a lot about tics and Lyme's disease these days but we never had a problem back then, maybe it's something new. And your quite right about that smell, if you know, you know!! You can find them down here if you know where to go, I've seen quite a few on GPS Malaga, but he's well off the beaten track. Have a great week!!
When I lived up that way, in Great Corby, I used to go walking in the Lakes fells once or twice a month. The last time I was up there, I was looking forward to moving out here to Brazil. 14 years later, I'm here in Brazil, watching this video, thinking "Wow, I wish I was there!" and wondering, "How did that happen?". LOL! Talk about the grass always being greener... ! Seriously though, thanks for sharing these videos. You're doing a great job! I'd also like to add that the right to roam is a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, we don't have that here.
Cheers Antony, yeah this was a very vibrant green day. These colors and smells help me hit that reset button. Glad my videos can bring back a small home comfort to you though it brings me a lot of happiness to know this.
Good to see you back Jack 😊, I really enjoyed the video and I watched it to the end . Very , very beautiful where you spent your day and I hope Tod your dog is still doing good . The clouds are pretty and I love the smell of the rain , everything is fresh after being wet. Beautiful color of the water out in the query , becareful Jack being out n about 😊. Awsome job on video.
Hay Jack I was wondering where you purchased your little camp stove from ? I'm having good week so far , I hope you are as well 😊? Can't wait for the next video and I made it a point to start getting back out n about again , as soon as the hot weather is done. I'm more of Autumn , Winter type of person and Spring is also pretty. As I'm older now I don't do summers well heat wise , here where I live in California and Jack have wounderful day.
@@denisecabe1613 I got it from a local outdoors shop called go outdoors here in the UK. They sell this stove world wide though it’s the MSR one it will be on Amazon. It’s pocket size but packs a punch.
I just lost my dog of 11 years to age and illness, so I'm sad what you're going through. Great walking along as always. Thanks. P.S.-that is a spiffy mug!
Thanks river he’s here with me now glad to have him around still. He’s only been on a couple videos over the years but I’ve got loads of footage of him that I will likely share in future videos
I could tell that todays hike was Jack time thank you for sharing your time with us the viewers,,,,is it possible if down the road you could give a review of the equipment you us Boots,Backpack,Pants🙏
Some of the best time's I've ever had, was time's that i just Explored however things unfolded. Being out in the wilderness going off the beaten path really helps u feel in touch with your senses of ur surroundings. It increases ur observation skills & the ability to be at peace while being on your own in the wilderness. Which is something some people never get in their entire lifetime. It's helped more than anything else during tough & good times in my life. Wish ya the best. I relate to the dog situation. Ive been thru that similar thing. When u get the time, and feel up to it, getting out in nature and exploring is really great at distracting the mind which helps focus on different things. Have a great day man.
@@jackasnacks not really, I call most of it "bubble gum tea" as it comes with bizarre artificial flavors, I prefere chamomile when I feel sick or rose hip. I'm a tea barbarian 😉 But at the coastal regions of the North Sea there is an old traditon drinking black tea, even with rum....
The Right to Roam thing is interesting...here in the States, there is no right to cross private property. You can ask permission, of course, but the land owner is under no obligation to permit you access. To make up for it, we have tens of millions of acres of public lands where you can hike to your hearts content. I think you'd like hiking in my home state of Washington, the weather is very similar (on the West side), but the mountains are a lot steeper and heavily forested.
I have a weakness for BIG trees and i know the states have a lot of those big Sequoias i think they're called? I'd LOVE to be amongst a forest full of Sequoias! Yeah running across private land in the UK isn't that bad, you might get an angry farmer but that's about it. I know the states is different though and people over there protect their land with much more force than you would get here in the UK!

Yeah everything’s soaking here majority of the time. No wild fires in most places in the lakes district but jet boils are fine. Usually the ground is so wet fire struggles to get a hold to jump to anything. Always some that ruin it though I’ve seen full trees being scorched where they stand with no reason
