You said it: The MCU started with Iron Man and ended with Iron Man. Great decade of entertainment. Please Disney. Don't destroy that too.
Disney: you don’t matter
Disney: I am inevitable
The executives at Disney will never understand where they are going wrong and nothing they try will ever fix these issues until they do.
Marvel and Disney know the solutions to their problem. It lies right in front of them. But they will consciously choose to ignore it.
That is so true. Totally impossible but yet here we are
The whole use of cameos and referencing better films as a way to press the audience nostalgia button is pretty lazy and it seems to be all Disney can do anymore. I would see it as both a cash grab and an act of desperation.
100%
“Desperate Cash grab” is all they can do without upsetting shareholders. Economics and art don’t mix well.
They brought back David Tennant to ruin his legacy in Doctor Who. They brought back Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford to ruin their legacy Star Wars. They brought back Harrison Ford to ruin his legacy in Indiana Jones.
What could possibly go wrong with RDJ returning to Iron Man?
I had David Tennant in mind and just scrolled down the comments to make sure I wasn't repeating anything.
Exactly that, any attempt to bring a great character back is just for a bit of character assassination; I'd rather they left him dead. Sitting him down for a lecture about pronouns, his misogynistic, playboy streak in the beginning and any accusations of toxic masculinity by some purple haired they/them would be totally ignoring the redemption arc that saving the universe at the expense of his life affords a character.
I can't even go back and watch "old" new Who now. I look at Tennant and all I see is a sellout. I don't want to see that with RDJ too.
The difference is he is beloved by liberals. So they won’t do him dirty.
I think that on some level, Iron Man actually WANTED to die, so he wouldn't have to see what was about to happen to the MCU. 😅
“Somehow Tony Stark/Iron Man has returned!!!” 🤣
KK takes over the Marvel writing room
I was just about to say this
Just like Palpatine yayayayyyya!!!
The fact is, if the MCU would just more closely adapt the classic storylines, they’d have *great* content for years. So many great individual character and team stories, so many characters that could become fan favorites.
I bet that bench killed somebody.
When you're outside tryna enjoy nature:
If RDJ returns I wouldn't blame him. Even though I despise Disney and the ppl working there. If they offered me just a third of what they would pay RDJ, I'd take the 💰 and run like I stole it.
Man, this has been such a busy week for SnarkyJay.
It's been a good week
Good! The more I get to see her the better! 🤣
Man Marvel are trying to do everything in their power to undermine the Endgame finale🙄🙄
yeah, completely disrespectful if they decide to UN DO his entire arc, and by exstention the entire Infinity Saga as a whole.
Not true
Agreed@@samletsplaygames
Snarkyjay is so fine
@@michaelrivera8360 things like tone and arc matter. In fact, its one of the reasons why MCU is in such a state right now. The Mult verse is just plot armor an excuse to change more stuff that doesnt need to be, and un-doing Tony's sacrifice is just dumb and lazy to be blunt.
Marvel and Disney know the solutions to their problem. It lies right in front of them. But they will consciously choose to ignore it.
Giving the means of movie production to the working class?
Shutting down forever and sparing us more terrible product?
Well for starters getting a set long term vision by establishing an overarching plot.
Have a clear picture in mind fr each and every new character that is introduced; u shld have a rough idea as to where u wanna take that character and whether that character features in this grand vision of theirs or not. If not, keep the character's story arc seperate from the rest of the continuity and self contained so that audiences can follow them separately.
Try not to appease certain groups and elements by lazily written dialogue pandering and overall storylines hellbent on proving a certain point.
I'm certain that Disney execs watch prominent UA-cam critics and read the comments. They know what their audience thinks about their crappy products. It's incredible to see a business go against its own customers to the degree that they will pretend real criticism doesn't exist and even attack their own audience. Sadly, the reality is the extremely wealthy people at the top want diverse/gay/feminist/trans propaganda so that's what they'll keep producing. RDJs return would be like David Tennant's return in Doctor Who. It would just be a hook to get people in to watch some preachy garbage.
You're right it's not actors. It's the writing that's killing the movies.
It's also actors. Many actors support and even influence writers' directions. On top of that, most actors will tell you how they take roles and stories they believe in. Writers, actors, directors, studios, and producers are all to blame.
@@dikeledimusi3871well it seems the actors never told the Russo bros what to do, maybe because they trust what the Russo doing
@@dikeledimusi3871actors must have healthy relationships with directors otherwise film won't work
It’s starts with the writing, but unless the actors make the story believable, it will end the same. Writers, actors, and director can make or break a movie.
I wouldn't walk across the street for ANYTHING from Disney.
Hope RDJ is able to collect another huge salary from them since he's done a lot of high quality performances.
And the idea of this wretched company losing millions always makes me smile. They certainly deserve it.
Problem is majority of the people making the MCU movies now have no passion for the characters. You look at everyone who was in control of all the MCU films with Kevin Feigie. They had love for the characters now that passion is gone.
There is one reason I would support RDJ coming back.... to get paid $100m for his role up front in cash, and then the movie flops harder than madam web 🤣
He could have a flashback cameo or something but his story is ended amazingly
Iron Man should not be dead. If Downey wanted to walk, so be it, but no movie company should make that kind of a decision on legacy characters.
Respectfully Miss Jay, there is NOTHING dorky about you. You're intelligent, witty and beautiful. I truly enjoy your videos. GOD bless you. Be blessed to be a blessing. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Do you not understand that you are commanding a vengeful god to change his perfect plan?
@@PROVOCATEURSKbro what chill
Nothing dorky?
I think you have a flawed definition of that word.
She's all those things you listed, *and* dorky, which just adds even more value to the package 😁
Robert Downey Jr. got that "F you" money for playing Iron Man. He will only return to the MCU if they give him serious amounts of profit sharing.
The only way this MIGHT work is if he’s a Stark from a different reality. They could turn him into a villain like Steve Roger’s hydra storyline. But they’ll probably bring him back from the dead. F-Marvel.
Agree, a multi-verse Tony Stark would be interesting.
He's supposed to be in Secret Wars, Iron Heart, and there might be an Iron Man 4 but Tony will be an A. I.
I don’t want to see Tony as a villain, it’s the same opposite Reed Richards and others showing up for 5 mins just to get killed off….just no
Leave things alone
The era of the Superhero movie is over.
but... couldn't Tony Stark come back (being his toxic former-self) to literally put an end to woke/bridge/esg by being, get this, himself? He put an end to Thanos, next Capt Marvel AND the new Ms. Surfer. A three hour movie (or two parts) that shows the world that strong men can save the planet. He could be our Superman, minus the cape, and with all the sacrifice.
Disney killed off Black Panther T'Challa
Saw a what if situation where he allegedly survived the snap where he essentially lost his mind and became superior Ironman, would be a cool concept but them killing him off and then seeing where marvel is now not sure it’s a great idea
LOL that looked like my dog. I freaked for a second. Another great video BTW.
Look, we all want the same thing; we want the MCU to be great again.
I thought at the time back in 2019 the MCU was likely to decline in quality because it had been unnaturally good and consistent for a decade. I mean, look at any long lasting series of films and they have ups and downs.
Their strategy was highly risky: we're gonna take our MCU, kill off two main beloved characters Tony & Natasha) and age off third (Cap) , increase the quality of production in films and TV and assume we can maintain quality and not hurt our brand. In the words of Iron Man - 'Not a great plan". They also had bad lick- the pandemic, the delay of getting out Gaurdians 3 that was supposed to start the new slate of films, and the death of Chadwick Boseman.
As its gone the movies have been a mixed bag of very good (Spidey3 & Gaurdains) to poor (Eternals ). Its the Disney Plus shows that have too often been unwatchable (Secret Invasion). But even here we also have gems like Moonknoght and Werewolf By Night.
Now that some MCU movies have tanked at the box-office Marvel seems to have gotten the message. They have slowed production- Echo was dropped in a way so people wouldn't make too much of it & Ironheart put on a shelf somewhere. They are reworking Daredevil til its something fans will like.
I think the real problem of the MCU 2021-2023 is even Feiige spread himself too thin and didn't closely supervise everything the way he used to. He let a bunch of his top creatives go (Joss Whedon, James Gunn & the Russo Brothers) and brought in folks who didn't quite know what they were doing. But this is fixable.
So, I would welcome back RDJ in a well-written Marvel movie. (I wouldn't get Joss Whedon to direct as he seems to have a Jeckyl & Hyde personality but I'd bring him back to write in a nan0-second). I agree we shouldn't cheapen straks death but imagine the following scenario: Evil Invincible Iron Man threatens to destroy our universe so another Tony Stark (played by Downey) from another universe is recruited to help save ours. .Only he LACKS CONFIDENCE! Hes insecure! Everyone is begging him to gain Iron Mans smarts and swagger gain.We see him grow in confidence as he watches the record of OUR Tony Stark (and maybe a pep talk from Pepper?) and he helps foil the Evil Iron Man in the end.
I think that could work.
I'd only be down for this if RDJ made Disney sign a contract saying his character had certain stipulations, such as not being dumbed down and turned into a joke.
It can happen, the main actor in the series Shogun, Hiroyuki Sanada said he wouldn't sign on to it unless they promised to ensure casting would be historically accurate.... Basically making sure they didn't DEI the cast.
Snarky on Jay!,.. Great video as always.
They already belittled the character in Iron Man 2.
Love that you keep it real.
Kevin feige said they won't touch that iconic moment and would remain untouched so that they won't ruin it. hence there's a possibility that he might return as superior iron man in secret wars or any alternate version of iron man
Hope that clears the confusion ❤
Your perspective on how this would turn out is very eye-opening.
If Disney cared about writing, I wouldn't mind an alternate universe Tony Stark played by Tom Cruise based in the 1980's. It be fun to give him a mullet too like in the old 80's animated series lol You could even have him time travel to the 1960's which is what the new fantastic 4 movie time line is going to be in. He be the one from the future in this case. It be more compelling to make his character super intense like tom cruise in real life , but to the point where it's funny to see him interact with other avengers because he comes off as a lunatic.
I love your points. I'm also thinking another Tony Stark from the multiverse? Anyways, what would bother me more is that Disney ruin RDJ's career. Disney has been putting so much crap I would simply do as Jenna Ortega and ignore Disney for my own professional good.
I’m open to the idea of the character returning, as long as he’s significantly different than before. Like a teen Tony adaptation, or superior iron man as the new villain for Secret Wars now that Kang is gone. But still just a one or two-off, not a permanent return.
If disney brings back iron man, i guess first of all they are in a desperate situation and they need money... 2, like you said they want us to live again the glorious days of the mcu but by doing that it wont add anything to his character...
I have theories in mind that could be potentially interesting but i don't know if disney will get him back:
1) Tony stark could have created another AI in secret with the technology to save his intellect, so the other marvel heroes discovers it and they could get some help from him for further threats
2) tony could come from another earth and maybe have a plan ahead and one step ahead plan in case anything goes wrong, it could be another version of him that already planned something in secret that the heroes doesn't know about...
3) tony could be brought back as an AI with the little guy from Iron man 3 which was at his funeral and grew older at the time, it could introduce iron lad as the next iron man and maybe have a role in armor wars along side rodhey who was replaced by a skrull in secret invasion so they could bring also knowledge for morgan his daughter
4) tony could be an evil version of iron man and doesn't come from earth but instead from another dimension and could potentially have evil plans on taking over the avengers and bring along with him the superior persona
5) tony could have been replaced been a skrull all along and doesn't know that his technology has been sold around the world and the real tony stark had a secret lab hidden and nowhere to be found whefe he could operate to destroy the company that stole his technology
6) tony stark could have found the way to travel through time and meet a younger version of himself and warn him about the future, also he could have met the f4 on the way and discover the technology to travel through dimensions as well and prevent any threats that could come from out of space and time
The only way I think RDJ returns is if, rumor has it Secret Wars is really in the next phase, I think in 2027? They could actually bring everyone back. And anyone that says that's ridiculous, how many times have they killed and brought back Superman, including Justice League? Literally every hero and villain in the Marvel Universe, plus the Beyonder making an appearance? I think that would be a damn good idea.
Idc I want to see Tony Stark and Reed Richards as best friends in live action.
And people never realize in the comics Ironman was an asshole no one liked him he kicked off every single team but now in mcu all of a sudden he's the shit......o well whatcha gnna do smh 🤦
The only time I could see him comming back and it KINDA working would be that.. what movie is coming up.. the war one between universes. BUT at the same time id rather see someone similar but different to portray a different stark
Personally, I don't like how they MIGHT make Tony's sacrifice meaningless if they go that route.
But if they do flashbacks or maybe an Iron Man movie taking place before endgame where he lets say... Fights Titanium Man (another well known Iron Man Villain. Who had his own live action toy back in 2008 despite not appearing in that movie), which I would love.
Although I wholeheartedly understand your concern Snarks
Makes perfect sense, see right before Iron Man died, there was a blue flash as he teleported into a clone made on exegol
Hey Snarky question I heard you say once you where latina what descent are you.Hi from a fellow puerto rican🇵🇷🇵🇷
The only actor that would make sense to bring back is Chris Evans but as the Red Skull in a cloned Steve rogers body. That was a great story run in the comics.
Ironman from 616 would make a awesome Villan to fight the new Avengers. Imagine seeing Ironman flying around looking for revenge for his friends lost due the Scarlett witch..Imagine the tech he built just to prepare for the multiverse threat on the other side.. This would be bone chilling bc it isnt the Ironman we know.. The Xmen & illuminati is searching for the Scarlett Witch anyways. So he would have his own team to back him up.
Well said, as always.
Hell he could play another version of Tony Stark that is even better then his first 11 years in the MCU. Having more of RDJ is always great. So bring him back.
I do not see RDJ coming back as a resurrected living Tony. I could totally see him coming back as an AI like Jarvis for the Avengers or as a variant. Neither of those possibilities would take away from his sacrifice in Endgame. Gamora similarly came back, but it was established that this is not the same Gamora. No one complained about that.
I love Robert Downey Jr., and he's at his best, and an incredible ending story of Avengers: Endgame! And still made me cry 😭 To be honest I would love to see him again as Iron Man, but the problem with MCU tho, is that it's never gonna be the same with some other box office fails like: Eternals, The Marvels, and Ant-Man 3. I mean, will never know until the future holds itself.
Only if they were to bring back all of the originals with RDJ, but they should've never killed the character off.
1:48 I was "Wait, there was a SnarkyJay movie?" until realizing that was over Captain Marvel 🤣
I think RDJ as Iron Man in battleworld with the original 6, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spidey and Venom would be a good one off to finally end the MCU and then they can reboot and do whatever it is they want to do to finish slaughtering our once great franchise.
If it were up to me, I would reboot everything, bye bye to lame Skrulls, Kree and Nick Fury, to Antonia Taskmaster, to Annete Bening's Mar-Vell, to Tenoch Huerta's Namor, to Julia Garner's Silver Surfer, Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards, etc. And there would be a new Tony, Steve, T'Challa, Natasha in their rightful places
I am seeing this all over the place. RDJ is back to save the MCU! AFAIK, he was in talks to cameo as Riri Williams' mentor to save Ironheart. Be careful what you wish for.
I mean, yes, a 100% - but then again, Death is a revolving door in comics, and while I'd also fear for bringing his Tony Stark (or rather, an alternate version of him) back to the MCU destroying the legacy, we also have to think about what can be done to turn things around. Writing better stories is certainly desperately needed, but there's so much more missing from movies and series of this MCU "Dark Age" (I count WandaVision to the before-times here). Who are the heroes we should actually care about in the current phase? And what can they do to help us start to care about them? Where are the truly weak links and how do we get rid of them in a way that feels right, and replace them with worthy figures? Do heads need to roll at the top and new (or old) voices be brought (back) to the table(s)? With people losing interest in the whole enterprise, there certainly needs to be an acknowledgement of the problem first.
I could see if they did some flashbacks foreign alternative story with him before his death and that's the only way it would make sense otherwise you're right it would just completely derail what has already been established
I've debated this with friends since Endgame, I think RDJ and Evans should stay gone. They were great but it would be so desperate to bring them back and nothing would ever matter again because you can just keep bringing people back.
I hope he returns but has a say on the script, I dont want them to make him a sidekick, he is iron man. But if they do use him maybe he could be a villain from another universe would love to see a tony stark be a threat.
TBH, if he came back as a variant himself I wouldn't care as it's supposed to be a totally different version of himself..
Also as long as it's like a one time cameo or variant that would be cool
The only way that I can possibly see this happening is if he returns as a variant of Iron Man from another universe. But even if that will be the case then Marvel needs to fully justify his return and not just make it a glorified cameo.
They should give Captain Marvel another movie. Bring in really good writers. Have her go through a huge change. Allow her to grow as a character. Perhaps she should be pursued for her crimes of mass murder. Allow her character to be humbled and likable. She should experience loss and self-doubt
Then rise from her fall. And right at the height of her turnaround, kill her off.
Have Rogue drain her life-force out. It would be the greatest Captain Marvel movie of all. Her last actions redeems herself and inspire the new Avengers.
“RDJ Returning To The MCU Would DESTROY It!" As if it hasn't already been destroyed beyond repair now for years. 😂
I agree...although I would like to see Evans back as Cap :)
I would only Robert Downey Jr's return if he is written well. I mean, I am guessing since he would only come back in Secret Wars. The next Avengers/Secret Wars movies better be as great as the "Endgame" saga. I am hoping that the next Marvel movies have to feel more like a reboot because that is what Marvel needs right now. The last good Marvel movie was Spider-Man: No way Home. Everything else after that felt half-assed.
They already screwed the weight of any everything when they made the multiverse a common/easy thing.
Bring a version of him back just before Deadpool destroys the multiverse.
616 is all that’s left. I can’t trust them to do a real Battle World story.
To counter the morons who harass you, I love this channel. Thanks for the great content! You're appreciated.
The problem is less the choice of characters and actors... the problem is in the writing room and in the director's seat.
Seriously, compare what big Hollywood names we had for directors while the MCU was hot... and then look at the absolute no-names we got with all the D+ Marvel "8 episode shows" ....
if they bring back RDJ, then it needs to be in his own movie and John Favreau needs to at least direct it if not write it.
If it's just some jumping off point to push "Iron Heart" instead ... get off my lawn.
Excuse my spelling of Robert Downey Jr.’s name, Siri actually spelled it right the second time not the first time so I do apologize for that
The original Ironman has a gritty, grounded feel that sets it apart from its contemporary kinda-silly, kinda-spandex superhero content. It's my favorite MCU movie. RDJ needs to hold onto that legacy and stay far, far away from Disney Marvel.
Bringing back Iron Man would just further confirm that whatever future they envisioned with him dead ain’t worth shit
Bringing back characters from death has been a staple for the entire comic book industry for its entire history so why would this be any different?
oppenheimer showed how great of an actor he is and as well had iconic roles long before iron man which he acted his ass of as those characters & of course gave his all as tony stark and we thank him for that but the helmet should be left hung up and for him to do other projects but of course it’s his choice what he does with his career going forward.
Disney is probably going to have Iron Man get shot on a park bench. That's my prediction.
It will end up being a pastiche of itself. They need to rest for ten years and back some decent writers and directors who know what they're doing with a decent arc. They have such an amazing array of characters and it seems they don't know what to do with them anymore.
I agree. But it would be nice to see him as iron man one last time in secret wars if they execute it right.
Disney doing bad live action films is the norm. Its them doing good live action movies that's the exception. Disney Quality? Check out 'That Darn Cat' from 1965. That's the usual level of Disney live action films. or 'The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes' (1969).
Everyone would go nuts and say it saves everything. But all it would do is ruin the impact of his death. So thanks for bringing that to light. I am grateful to experience the best/peak era MCU. And it sucks to see it became a shell of what it was. We went from people wanting every franchise to mimic its success, to being over it. Well kinda.
Thank you, Jay. These are all valid concerns and conclusions. But consider exactly what RDJ said in the context of your assessment of current MCU/Disney status. RDJ might have had a fantasy moment of the *volume* of money he could command if some sort of deal could be reached. There's no way he comes back without a historic amount of cash, merchandising deals, residuals, etc., etc. He could be looking at the greatest single haul in cinema history. That would be fun to fanaticize about no matter who the actor was. RDJ: "Sure, I'll come back. Here's my amount. Yes, it is that many zeros. You want me? That's the price." ;-)
Disney probably paid him to say that to build some enthusiasm but of course Disney is so out of touch.
If done horribly. Of course in the state that the MCU is in, it might happen. But I'm holding a prayer that a miracle happens with this. I'm cautiously optimistic.
I'd love it if the old gang was back, but the modern writers at Disney would work overtime to screw it up. And probably because the fans want it.
Bringing back legacy characters that gave their lives in the films will turn this franchise into Fast and Furious parodies.
They are doing the exact same thing with Hugh Jackman. Absolutely one hundred percent agree with you. I'm actually completely done with marvel for the next few years. The last guardians of the galaxy pretty much is the end of the era for me. It was a nice ending to that trilogy. And it was a good ending to the entire MCU for now. I also believe in my heart that deadpool three will be a disaster.
If they keep the current writers. Bringing back beloved characters won't matter. Anyways, I hope RDJ gets a boat load of money.
So many timelines. Even Logan came back because of the time difference with Deadpool. Now that is going to be amazing
The thing is maybe it would be ok that Marvel is headed by Kevin not KK so there might be chance it might work.
Didn’t Marvel use to have a panel that drew out all 3 phases for Feige and Kevin took all the credit as a Marvel mastermind?
What happened to that panel? 🤔
I think it's already destroyed... I will say though in the comic books characters do always come back! It's clear that people really want to see more of a classic Avengers in theaters, I'm not sure though that the Disney MCU would be too kind to The Avengers story lines.. And that worries me.
As you’ve pointed out, asking for nice things doesn’t mean we get them. Desperate times for desperate simps requires desperate measures, like asking a beloved actor to bail them out. They’ll screw that up as well 😢
I think it’s ridiculous to think that the MCU can continue without utilizing its top tier characters like Iron Man or Steve Rodgers Captain America regardless of Endgame’s ending. These are comic book characters and no comic book character stays dead forever. What? Disney isn’t allowed to bring back a character that’s been in the pop culture landscape in some form another for the last 60 years? These are comic book characters and comic book stories. Stop taking this stuff so seriously. One of the major things killing the MCU right now besides bad writing and agenda driven story telling has been it’s move to less popular Z grade characters that lack charismatic stars like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans. They killed Iron Man, killed T’Challa Black Panther, aged out Captain America, nerfed and destroyed classic Hulk, made Thor a punchline and foolishly thought crap like Captain Marvel and Shang Chi would suffice as suitable replacements. Going back to the well of classic marvel characters and storytelling is EXACTLY what the MCU needs. Again this ain’t Schindler’s List - Endgame was a comic book movie and a good one, but this reverence for that ending is just laughable to me. Enjoy this stuff for what it is.
I would be ok with RDJ returning if it was a version of Stark from an alternate universe, preferably one where he's evil.
HE SHOULD RETURN AS SUPERIOR IRONMAN in a 3 way power struggle with Victor Von Doom and Our Avengers to fill the power vacuum in the multiverse left by Kang
I balled my eyes out! So did my Ma! I'm secure enough to say that!
Your intro says it perfectly. Tony Stark had the perfect story arc! Honestly a cash grab isn't going to save the MCU. It's a busy week Jay! Keep kill it!
Hiiiii Jay!!! 👋😄 RDJ should avoid MSheU entirely. Ironman cannot put out this dumpster fire!!! 🔥 🗑 multiverse is 💩!! Keep it Snarky, happy humpday!!!
Just make a STRONG HULK movie already I grew up on the original series these new Hulks are a joke but if I were to lean towards one version it would be the ed norton HULK @snarkyjay could you look up some content on that? I think it would be good for marvel as long as they give him a good op somebody besides general ross lol
All of your arguments are well thought out, logical and excellent, which is why I believe Disney will do the exact opposite.
I'm overall not the biggest fan of Endgame, they peaked at Infinity War for me,but it's so far above anything that Marvel has done since i fully agree that this would be a horrible mistake. Love your content
1:08 Best casting choice next to Chris Evans as #CaptainAmerica you mean,…👍🏼👈🏼👈🏼
You know exactly what they would do to this character..they'd give him the Luke Skywalker from the sequels treatment
I was one of those that heeded the warning signs of the impending m-she-u & tapped out of EVERYTHING marvel after end game. The whole super hero genre should have taken a long hiatus after that in my opinion. As you say jay bringing back rdj would piss on the whole infinity saga legacy. but it would be such a classic disney move. These people have proven that they are clueless clowns.
