That is actually his wife Denise, they were high school sweethearts. She looks young but she’s really not much younger than him. This song is their story. They separated in the 90’s for a bit, after his heavy touring schedule and his affair. Then they worked it out and have been together ever since. They were high school sweethearts and married young. Around the time their 3rd daughter was born he had an affair. She forgave him and they are still together today.
He wrote this song about their life together. I've read his wife's book. He cheated on her at one point when their relationship was very rocky but they reconciled. "Found trust"
@@BourbonCountryReacts he's an extremely talented writer as well as singer. Many of his songs are very personal which is why the emotion comes through IMO. Since you enjoyed this one, you may consider some others of his.
Alan Jackson is one of the most talented country artists ever. HIs song "Midnight in Montgomery" is a haunting tribute won the Country Music Association award for Music Video of the Year (1992) . Then, you move on to some of his upbeat stuff like "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" and get a great surprise in the original video. I've never seen one of his videos blocked.
It was his lovely wife that helped get him discovered. She was a flight attendant and she gave his demo to a record exec who actually listened to it. Also, they didn't break up but there was alleged infidelity. BTW he sounds just like this live. He has a great voice. He is a singer/songwriter.
While working as a flight attendant, Alan's wife Denise, met singer Glen Campbell ("Rhinestone Cowboy"). Denise told him about Alan and that he was an aspiring country music artist. After their conversation, Glen handed over his business card and said to have Alan contact him.
I think you will love Alan Jackson's DRIVE, so relatable. Makes me cry every time thinking about my dad and he's not even the one who taught me to drive
Saw Alan Jackson at Sioux Falls State Fair 25 years ago or so. Lightning hit and took all but emergency electricity. Alan Jackson kept playing, all acoustic, no microphone. Electricity came back on, I wish it hadn't, it was so good. I was an Alan Jackson fan-ish before, but the way he handled that cemented my Fandom. He just kept playing and entertaining, A total professional and great guy through the whole ordeal. Can't say I like all of his songs, but I will always have respect for him.
This song reminds me of my husband. Married as teens, had a brief split in our 20s, reconciled and had a big family. We never got to be old and remember when because he died suddenly at 45. 😪😪
It’s on his gospel cd Precious Memories. My Dad was a musician and played bass and rhythm guitar, that’s all I knew growing up til he passed in 2007. I quite singing and became a firefighter/first responder. It was to hard to get through songs especially Ricky Van Shelton’s “I’ll leave at his World Loving You” which my Mom had recorded when Dad sang it so he sang it at his own funeral and of course everyone cried ugly.
Not sure if you have done his song "Where were you when the world stopped turning". After 9-11 he woke up one night with this in his head and got up and wrote this beautiful song.
Just found your channel a couple weeks ago... This song was played at my husband's funeral. Cancer stole our plans. I'm 60 years old now. We were married 38 years. He's been gone from this earth for 5 years now. Beautiful song.
"Chattahoochee" was THE party song by him. The video itself is a party; it's AWESOME! Another good one by him is "Country Boy", which was later in his career relative to "Chattahoochee".
Alan is such a great songwriter and performer so I love a lot of what he does but what’s so special about this song to me is how it doesn’t candy coat the struggles people often go through. No one said marriage and raising kids is easy but man is it worth it! The song mentions how the start was hard and how life threw them some curves which happens. Also, how they’ll break each other’s hearts and hopefully bend but not break the marriage. How having kids can teach valuable lessons to the parents who have to let go of so much of themselves and put the kids first which often brings the parents closer even though the job of raising kids is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things they’ll ever do. It also talks about how our perceptions and values change as life moves on and how ultimately we’d do it all again, the struggles, the hurt, the broken trust, the rebuilt trust, the joy, and the love. It’s a masterpiece and now that I've been married for 19 years and have two wonderful kids this song means so much more to me. My favorite songs by the icon Alan Jackson are Remember When, Livin’ on Love, Where Were You, Small Town Southern Man, I’ll Try, Here in the Real World, Drive, She’s Got the Rhythm, The Older I Get, Monday Morning Church, and I Can't Do That Anymore (recorded by Faith Hill).

Martina McBride, broken wing, John Conley rose-colored glasses, The McCarters, timeless and true love, Alison Krauss all alone am I, Keith Urban blue ain’t your color, almost any of these artists anything off the greatest hits album‘s
You just made a lot of work for Dustin. He manages our list of requests. :D - Keith
True... and added. - Dustin
I think y’all would like the song by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles called “Seven Spanish Angels.”
Johnny Cash, “Hurt.”
We've both heard Hurt. But we'll add SSA to the list.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Thank you
You guys would like Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake at the cma awards Drink you away and Tennessee Whiskey.
We may have to check that out. I'm surprised to see the words "Justin Timberlake" in a country context, though.
If you'll please consider doing Alan Jackson's "Sissy's Song" I would appreciate it! It was played at my grandmother's funeral many years ago and holds a special place in my heart ❤️
Gonna make a more current suggestion for your listening pleasure. Eric Church “Drink in my hand”
We'll add that to our list.
Rock and roll is more about the music, country is about the story mixed with great music no auto tune especially the older singers
Nope his wife. Yes he married his highschool sweatheart. Chattahoochee is a fun song of his. Another great song of Alans is The Older I Get. I'll be turning 51 this year so I can relate to this song.
Added a vote for that one.
You've got to watch the official video for Chattahoochee!!!
You should react to Alan Jackson's "where were you when the world stopped turning? "
We'll add that to our list.
Guys, try out Hank Williams, Jr., “A Country Boy Can Survive” and “Family Tradition.”
We probably won't react to those on the channel, because we've both heard them a lot.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Gotcha!
It’s the slurring of the words for me🤣
Alan Jackson is awesome, been a fan since he started. That is his wife in the video, Denise Jackson. They are high school sweethearts from Georgia.
Btw I listened to plenty of heavy metal and rock back in my youth and still do but also grew up on country. You love all kinds of genre of music. Country music hits you in a different way.
Cool! We had no idea.
Try his song “[Daddy Let Me] Drive”…it’s fun and upbeat but everyone loves it…hits most people in the feels!
Added a vote for that one -Dustin
Not broke up and destroyed each other, it is about the struggles in marriage.
Country Music…Three chords and the truth!
Hmm... I guess that applies to a bunch of rock too. The old school stuff. Three chords and a party! - Keith
Listen to Jamey Johnson sing You Should Have Seen It In Color...it will definitely get to you.
We'll add that to our list, thanks! Keep 'em coming.
@@BourbonCountryReacts .....that song is a must fellas!!!
Hank Williams Jr.... Country Boy Can Survive, Family Tradition
Kentucky Headhunters....Dumas Walker, and Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine
I'm betting we've both heard the Hank Jr. stuff. We'll add the Kentucky Headhunters to our list.
Definitely check out Midnight in Montgomery, and for an upbeat one Chattahoochee
We'll add those to our list. Thanks.
Lyrics will make or break a song for me... I'm with you on that.
I don't know about make or break, but they definitely matter to me. - Keith
Please add his song Midnight in Montgomery to your list! It's about Hank Sr.
Added a vote for that one.
Please listen to Alan Jackson's "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" featuring Jimmy Buffet for a really fun song! Also "Drive" is a nostalgic feel-good song.
You guys were a bit chatty during this reaction, but kudos on feeling out the meaning and emotions Alan was putting across.
We're often chatty. It's kinda what we do here.
@@BourbonCountryReacts my apologies, I guess I've kinda been corrected.
New here...I grew up as an 80's child, exposed to all types of music...lyrics are important because when words won't come the music speaks for you...😄
Please react to Brantley Gilbert's songs "Bullet in a Bonfire" , "Read Me My Rights", and/or , "Lost Soul's Prayer"...he is my absolute favorite artist regardless of Genre. And if I can find a guy like that, little bit country, little bit biker bad boy....well a women can dream... 😆
We'll add all of those to our list. Thanks!
Been watching you two now for a week, entertaining and good insights. I might even try some bourbon lol. Try If tomorrow never comes by garth brooks, a top country performer for past 30 years. Best wishes from Michigan!
Thanks! The challenge with Garth is finding stuff of his that we haven't heard. Garth was everywhere for a while.
I wonder if we show this one back to Keith if he would remember this episode 🤪😂😂
we never get fitshaced doing these. Never!
I love this song and Alan Jackson. I also love Judas Priest 🤘
You said something earlier in another reaction that you think singers should be able to sing live as well an in studio.. Please react to a country song by Elvis Presley. Listen to the live version of MAKE THE WORLD GO AWAY.
We'll add that to the list. But, wasn't Elvis the genesis of Rock?
Elvis had at least 2 albums of country music. Please give him some air time for Make the world go away and also a live version of You gave me a mountain from the Hawaii concert. Thank you so much for listening and for your wonderful reactions. I'm having a blast listening to your channel.
@@peggysoutherland1183 Ok. We'll add those to our list. I don't know a lot about Elvis. So this is news to me.
Yall have got to get some more women of country on here. Terri Clark (girls lie too), leann rimes (one way ticket), Jamie O'Neil (somebody's hero), Jessica andrews (who i am)
I love strong female vocals. We'll add those to our list. - Keith
Chattahoochee, It’s Five O’ Clock Somewhere is really good, but I believe you would really like both of these songs.
Both of those are on the list, I've added a request Tally for each of them.
👍👍👍
one of my fav Alan songs. OLD? well, wait to you reach 70 and about to celebrate your 50th anniversary. So this song always gets me in my feels. Want a great dog song? Try Chris Stapleton's song about his dog " Maggie's Song" I know of at least 2 others.
We'll add those to our list. We'll be coming back to Stapleton at some point, I'm sure.
I buy alcohol for cooking.
When I moved in with my new guy, he actually thought I drank a lot. I had 4 milk crates full of different alcohols.
He calls it Her Drunken Food.
I put bourbon in my chili. But I use bottom-shelf stuff. - Keith

I buy what I think will taste amazing for different things.
Good brandy for the raisins & carrots for my carrot cake.
Good amaretto for the raisins in my pumpkin bread
Vanilla Crown Royal for the raisin & zucchini in my zucchini pineapple bread.
The list goes on & on
