00:00 - the historical importance of Gwimbly in game development
As an indie game developer its important to study the successful games of the past. And the most obvious hit is the game Gwimbly. Gwimbly is the iconic video game protagonist, and found through all sorts of game and media collaborations throughout the years.
Gwimbly teaches us to never give up and that very feeling is something all indie game devs wish they could replicate. That simple feeling of nostalgia, that perfectly encapsulates Gwimbly and their stories. And I think all indie game developers could learn something from the Gwimbly games and their impact on game development as a whole.
(btw... this was all a Twitter meme about Gwimbly from Smiling Friends. This might be the best devlog I've ever made)

to those who hate Gwii:
It's not a mainline entry, It's a spin-off. It's an on rails shooter, The genre change doesn't make it a worse game, The soundtrack is really good, while it's a house of dead clone, It's a really good one.
And yes I agree that Gwimcube was better, But that doesn't mean that Gwii is bad
Why are you reviewing the gwii like its a game and not an iconic console?
What worsened its reputation was the developer's late-stage decision to rework it to a standard controller. You really have to experience it with a Gwimbly Gun attachment, even if it now commands high prices on a used market.
The Gwii soundtrack is the ONLY good thing about this game it lags,the controls are annoying, and it had one of the worse Gwimbly redisign

NGL Gwimbly is so iconic that when i'm going to make a crossover game he's definitely going to be in it
Everyone always seems to forget Gwimbly: Double Rash. It was a first of it's kind with the Multiplayer features. And without this game, we wouldn't have such great lines as "Get Parvo Quarvo!"
I thought the fact that they were willing to go into such detail about Gwimbly's coping mechanisms was really artistic and tasteful. I mean, it's rare you get media these days that touches on important, relatable themes while still keeping the fun party-game tone we would come to love from the series.
Personally, I did think the chapter set inside Glorfo's intestines wasn't their best work, but I know some people really like it.
@@r.pizzamonkey7379 yeah the Glorfo's intestines level just felt like they were trying to prove something, I don't know what but it was something. Honestly I thought the level right after was pretty good with the skydiving section

i remember watching my older brother play gwimbly games in the 90s, i honestly thought it was a fever dream but this resurgence unlocked that memory lol
Gwimbly 1 is pretty unfair at times, but it is a cool challange overall while Gwimbly 3 goes a little too hard on the gimmicks, minigames and multiple playable characters (playing as twinckly was a nightmare).
But Gwimbly 2 was just the right amount of everything and is my favorite one.
Im glad somebody finally put mario on fraud watch. Gwimbly was simply peak and deserving of much more glaze than his contemporaries

I remember unlocking Gwimbly in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga after days of grinding the Gwimbly level. truly one of the peak moments of my childhood.
