  • Excuse the grainy video, it was getting dark. It was fun charging with lights on and dusk setting in, but it meant they closed the circuit early due to low light. The speed jumps around a bit due to GPS issues. C'est la vie.

    This is fucking mental. I don't know if yall understand how quick this actually is. The new M5 CS did 7:29 on a empty track with professional testdrivers. This mad fuck did 7:53 with traffic, down 400hp, fwd and a manual gearbox. WTF! And he can probably chip off a few seconds. You sir are crazy, bravo 🤝

    • @kevtalbot137
      @kevtalbot137  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the kind words, but unfortunately it's not really comparable. The manufacturers times are nearly always a full lap, where this and most mere mortal lap times are btg (bridge to gantry). A well driven M5 CS would annihilate me on any part of the circuit! Truth be told, aside from it being my first 'sub8' time, I'm not particularly happy with this lap. It was during tf, the tyres were cold from the car park and I was far from 'dialed in' or fully committed, it was just an evening lap that happened to be relatively clear. A perfect lap doesn't exist, but this was a long way off. When I have the opportunity to return, the times will likely be lower, hopefully by some margin. :)

      It's hard not to be once the car is warm. Even supposed steady laps end with pushing. It's within margins, there's not lot of risk being taken, despite how it looks. There's still several key sections I need a lot more commitment/bravery/risk/whichever word works for you. :)

I was a little concerned when I seen them, hence the flashing and indicator to give them the best chance of seeing and reacting to me, which they did almost perfectly to be fair. Keeping right and putting their own indicator on was the best they could do. My apex was compromised, but I took less speed into the corner to compensate. In fact I probably could've carried more speed, as I easily made it back to the right hand side of the circuit for the following left. So replaying the scenario exactly how it was, I could've been faster , but that's not how these things work! In a racing environment perhaps, but in TF a margin is a better way to live.

      @@kevtalbot137 What made you decide to go for such an aggressive rear spring? I know the American Honda track boys used to do a similar setup to help rotation, what would be the difference with that a softer spring and bigger ARB?
      Also how are you finding that 1.5 way, do they help with high speed stability off throttle and into braking zones, and does it counteract some of that lift off tendency with the aggressive setup? What made you decide between the 1 way and 1.5 way.
      Sorry for all the questions, just very interested in your car, great driving 😁

      No, it hasn't worked for a while now. I've been on track without it in all sorts of conditions. This tells me I can remove it and probably not die. I want to remove the vacuum booster as well, so I'll likely remove it all at the same time.
