I agree with the fact that these button actuated compression locks are far superior to lunge lock. Do you know what surprised me though? The new Nedfoss Cougar is one of the most solid plunge locks I’ve ever experienced! I have spine whacked it well over 100 times on anything ranging from standard lumber to solid metal, and not once has it failed on me. Not even close! I will say that it did have a ridiculous amount of button stick when I got it. I took it out of the package, my first instinct was to return it. But I decided to wait and see if I could get it to break in. After a couple hundred openings, it has broken in wonderfully! The bearings have finally carved their path into the steel too. The action felt terrible when I first got it, but now it’s great! Anyone who sees this that has that knife and is discouraged by the action out of the package, I promise you it will break in. It just takes quite a bit of time. Still gonna need some Loctite in the pivot, though, I can’t get the pivot screw to stop backing itself out without it. But all in all, I was surprised with how much I enjoy this knife

Carmen I have a vid of it up. I've talked with a few people and they said theirs was good. If you end up having an issue and can't resolve it after a few days just contact them and get a new one or your money back that's the only thing I could recommend but the one I received was extremely solid.
Jed good on you man. Sometimes that is what it takes when a knife has really tight. Tolerances they just need a break-in period I know that you would think you don't want to have to do that and in some ways I agree. But I also understand that there are moving parts and it's metal and so on and things like that need broken in and lubricated at some point. And mine has been extremely solid so far as far as lockup goes

@@GBall_Vision I got the Racoon in the TLL and its an excellent budget knife. I also just got the Racoon in the regular button lock, they must have fixed them...definitely no spine whack issues, its pretty dam good too. I really want to get the black aluminum Hedgehog, I think it is an awesome knife. Great Video!!

Handle upgrade definitely a plus to be sure. I cannot justify, for my usage, the premium steel, as that drives the price here in Canuckistan to I suspect will be a 160 plus, closer to 200 dollar knife. Humidity is not a big issue in Alberta for the most part (except for the current heat wave), so a bit of carbon here and there, when properly cared for (and I do!) is bear-ly suitable. Mini Pyrite is always in one pocket. QSP Vault knife for the day. (Recumbent in bed nursing a massively swollen knee so I dont have to worry about carrying anything else!)

Plunge locks will eventually be all but gone by the end of the year. They won't ever completely die out I don't think, maybe eventually but for the most part they will
