When you realize you can download the PNG in HD you start to analyze if the game still is worth it. Various times isn’t. The gameplay and/or the story in many gachas are pretty generic sadly. I still play some gachas but just when I feel like it. I don’t worry anymore about getting “that” character, skin, card or item.
What was controversial about it? It was all true. They ARE just pixels. And the management company doesn't need the money. The cost of making new items in a gacha game is embarrassingly low compared to the income they produce.
It's best to think of gacha whaling like obsessive collecting. There is some truth that whales also contribute to the game they support, they believe that the game is good enough to say "Hey, I feel like spending money and supporting the devs!", but that isn't usually why people whale. People tend to whale for collection purposes, or gameplay purposes. Gameplay purposes are a little less understandable in my eyes, as if a near F2P account can do basically everything you can just at slightly worse efficiency, then what's the point of spending 1000+ dollars? However, I fully understand whaling for collection purposes. If you remember the days of old, when things like baseball cards, yugioh cards, pokemon cards, etc were all new and popular, people would go NUTS to collect those. Some people still do! Especially for games like Magic the Gathering and such, collection is a very important aspect for a lot of people, and the rarity of cards influenced how pricey they were to buy outright, thus making it almost more cost effective to gamble on card packs. Comic books also were part of the collection culture and a lot of early comic books became super expensive because of their collector's value. Same with gacha games. People have the urge to collect and make their favorites the best they can be. That way they can happily use/show off their favorites/collection to others. So while I understand the very correct words of Subaru (It's just a card...), I also get why it's MORE than just a card. That said, remember kids, be responsible with your money. Whales earn their money usually through some sort of support in their respective communities. At least the video based ones do.
At the end of the day these things are still just unnecessary objects. I don't think that people should be so attached to materials unless they are special with it being an important present from a loved one or a family heirloom.
You are ok with what you have, failing to draw your favourite character, imperfection of a collection. When you stop getting angry after not drawing your favourite character, you've lost twice.
But those are only PNG's not a physical thing or anything is worse because at the end of the day you get nothing.I would understand if you get prizes like real cards but not.
The game I whaled in, shut down so I can't ever use those rare characters again. So all that money is literally gone. I don't whale anymore because of that.
I _used_ to spend some money on gacha games, but I haven't in a good while. Felt bad doing it at times, which made me stop. The only exception at this point is FGO's yearly guaranteed SSR - not for anything else. For anyone who plans to get into gacha games, you really do need to be careful. It _is_ almost like gambling, despite what you might hear from the lifers. Budget yourself (even if that budget is $0.00).
One time and the first time I spent $50.00 on Arknights Gacha to get Chen, it felt great to be able to get her but then... My heart ached so much and the feeling of regret was so stronk later on...
As an F2P player most of the time, whales literally fund all of your experiences lol so be grateful I’d say. “Thank you for paying the devs so we don’t have to.”
Suisei: "Kalim could have his yakiniku banquet with the money that I whaled for him" Me: BUT YOU COULD HAVE USED THAT MONEY FOR YOUR OWN BANQUET WITH THAT MUCH THEN! I will never understand whales.
I was once a gacha addict and honestly I agree with Subaru, spending large amounts of money on gacha is wasteful. I play Brave Frontier, Azur Lane, Fate/GO, Arknights, Bleach Brave Souls, and FE: Heroes and between them since I started playing the first one (Brave Frontier back in 2013) I've probably spent a little over £5,000. Not once have I felt like that money was well spent, but I kept doing it anyway because I wanted the Bismarck or the Okita Souji or the Che'en. And let me tell you, I only even have one of those three I just listed, despite spending all that money.
I revently spent more than i would ever rationally have thought i would on genshin and i swore off it shortly afterward, its just too easy to fall into that habbit for almost no return. I feel the same way about microtransactions in games without gatcha or lootboxes, ie once u get a nice skin in apex it suddenly doesn't seem as cool as it did when i realize the price I love single player games and it inwardly makes my cringe when i realize that i could have supported an indie dev for the same price as some stupid skin they probably threw together in a couple days at most
Well I mean, gacha games and getting character was never a thing because the character at all, it is because you want to be the one who got the super rare character, it's that satisfaction what your searching, I have played some gachas and some that comes to my mind are fate go and arknights where you can literally use super rare characters from another people as support. The thing is it doesn't matter if you can play with the character, the thing is you play that character after you get that character, even if you level it up and then let it be forgotten cuz you already have a team that works better than with that said character xD
Reydriel I’m a seasonal dolphin and not a whale but we do? Also I kinda don’t have any more space for merch from all the gunpla I’ve built and having your waifus and husbandos in game is safer than having them displayed since you might want to keep your affection for anime characters secret from your family who you don’t always know when they will come see you. And if you squint hard enough you can make the argument that it’s their money and they can buy whatever they want just like how vegans shouldn’t force others in buying vegan food instead of whatever they’re buying I guess?
The mobile market has been destroyed by this types of games, and it's sad to see people defending this games and the ultimate destructiveness that is gambling addiction
@@snoopyodig1137 Nevertheless there are still good mobile games. But I also dislike all the gacha stuff. However nowadays there are mainly two ways how to make money on the mobile market: Small games with advertisings and gacha. And that's pretty hard to change. No one pays full price for a mobile game. It's strange, but that's the current situation.
I’ll never get gacha because to me what happens when you eventually become disinterested in it? If you’ve sunk an abhorrent amount of money into some virtual pictures there’s not going to be any form of return past the shot of dopamine and adrenaline you got hit with the moment you pulled something good. Doesn’t it just eventually turn into a monument of shame unless you indefinitely keep periodically tossing money into it?

That said, remember kids, be responsible with your money. Whales earn their money usually through some sort of support in their respective communities. At least the video based ones do.
“KAAAAATAAAAARIIIINAAAAA!!!”
-Subaru
Lol fubukis mic actually cuts out when she yells hey it’s adorably silly
"But Kalim is just a card"
ゴゴゴ
Stand Master: Suisei Hoshimachi
Stand Name:「WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY」
At the end of the day these things are still just unnecessary objects. I don't think that people should be so attached to materials unless they are special with it being an important present from a loved one or a family heirloom.
This just sounds like two addicts trying to justify their addiction.
Subaru: Its just a card right?
Also Subaru: KATALINAAAAA !!!! GRIMNIRRRRR !!!
If somebody said the same thing to me after I spent a year saving part of my salary to get Hokusai to np5 I'd be angry too
Me coming from the future : "Oh how the table have turned....."
That's a strong mental attack against 2 whalers, especially to the certain fgo kitsuneko whaler
The phrase It’s just a card is such a weak mindset
You are ok with what you have, failing to draw your favourite character, imperfection of a collection. When you stop getting angry after not drawing your favourite character, you've lost twice.
and so I came back here after watching Subaru's recent gacha stream.
I like how Subaru looks confused the whole time haha
the duck now transformed into a whale lolololol
Subaru: but this kalim is just a card, isn't it?
Fubuki: 'turn on predator mode'
Suisei: 'turn on psychopath mode'
1:17 you can almost hear the switch going off in Suisei's head
It is an evil, predatory business model, tbh
You don't ask a guy his salary
a woman her age
and a gacha player why pay for bunch of moving pictures
I just realise each Hololive member that I like is either a Gacha Addict or a Loli Addict and I’m scared
Perfect time to like the pure hearted duck that is Subaru
or become a degenelate and meet Haachama...?
But those are only PNG's not a physical thing or anything is worse because at the end of the day you get nothing.I would understand if you get prizes like real cards but not.
1:14 they are just PNG
JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE CORRECT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE RIGHT.
*rolls for a chainsaw*

ikr, you can just commisioned an artist to drew that for you.
I'm still rolling for Jean Bart in Azur Lane......
Subaru: "Why are you booing me? I'm right!"
The game I whaled in, shut down so I can't ever use those rare characters again. So all that money is literally gone. I don't whale anymore because of that.
Which game was it?
@@xauk9261 battle girl high school
Luckily Suisei loves her friends or she would have cut down SubaDuck . Honestly these idols are getting into gacha a bit too much Lol
There's nothing wrong with that, we're gacha slave after all(• ▽ •;)
"THEY'RE JUST PNG!"
Gaccha Addicts: "Say that again BITCH"
I _used_ to spend some money on gacha games, but I haven't in a good while. Felt bad doing it at times, which made me stop. The only exception at this point is FGO's yearly guaranteed SSR - not for anything else.
For anyone who plans to get into gacha games, you really do need to be careful. It _is_ almost like gambling, despite what you might hear from the lifers. Budget yourself (even if that budget is $0.00).
Subaru is too pure for gacha hell :(
This is why Subaru is not in Azur Lane
If so, then I hope someone added her to some other games instead.
Or maybe a new game featuring the Holo girls?
anyone coming back now sees the duck has chosen the dark path she once criticized thanks to Katalina and sandy lol
One time and the first time I spent $50.00 on Arknights Gacha to get Chen, it felt great to be able to get her but then... My heart ached so much and the feeling of regret was so stronk later on...
Don't worry if you hadn't wasted it there you would of wasted it somewhere else.
All your stonks down the srain
Being poor as i am, I never thought about spending a single dollar online. Subaru has a lion heart, the perfect resolution of a f2p player.
Be careful Subaru: these two are the strongest project winter players in hololive.
Subaru: "it's just a card right"
Fubuki and suisei addicted to whaling: *So you have chosen... Death!*
She said that on psychopath hitwoman thief gacha addict idol and cunning gacha addict white fox predator? Damn son
yes, she's so brave
As an F2P player most of the time, whales literally fund all of your experiences lol so be grateful I’d say. “Thank you for paying the devs so we don’t have to.”
SHE’S NOT JUST A JPG, SHE’S REAL. SHE HAS TO BE
Suisei: "Kalim could have his yakiniku banquet with the money that I whaled for him"
Me: BUT YOU COULD HAVE USED THAT MONEY FOR YOUR OWN BANQUET WITH THAT MUCH THEN!
I will never understand whales.
Well the manager was the one having his own banquet and laughing all the way with the easy money he was given for doing practically no work.
Here we see whales getting mad at a duck for swimming on their territory
I feel the same way about microtransactions in games without gatcha or lootboxes, ie once u get a nice skin in apex it suddenly doesn't seem as cool as it did when i realize the price
I love single player games and it inwardly makes my cringe when i realize that i could have supported an indie dev for the same price as some stupid skin they probably threw together in a couple days at most
Well I mean, gacha games and getting character was never a thing because the character at all, it is because you want to be the one who got the super rare character, it's that satisfaction what your searching, I have played some gachas and some that comes to my mind are fate go and arknights where you can literally use super rare characters from another people as support. The thing is it doesn't matter if you can play with the character, the thing is you play that character after you get that character, even if you level it up and then let it be forgotten cuz you already have a team that works better than with that said character xD
I always say to gacha whales: "Why don't you spend that money buying actual physical merchandise instead?" lol
THIS!!!!!!
Both
@@magic_cfw The truest whales always takes that path
What makes you think they dont? Most whales i know have multiple games and merchandise. Rich bastards...
I'm with Subaru all the way.
They're not going to advise people to be careful with their money when they make a living from people giving them money
0:35 Look at Subaru, her expression changes and it's so perfect
She went from 😮 to 🧐
how to trigger suichan
1. calls her a shotacon
2. say shota is the same as shonen
3. describe definition of whale like subaru
They hated the Duck because shet told them the truth
2 whales try to murder a duck, colorized.
The mobile market has been destroyed by this types of games, and it's sad to see people defending this games and the ultimate destructiveness that is gambling addiction
Example:RAID:SHADOW LEGENDS.
Exactly mobile gaming have potential but if people keep throwing money on shitty games like these there won't be enough development on the market
@@snoopyodig1137
Nevertheless there are still good mobile games. But I also dislike all the gacha stuff.
However nowadays there are mainly two ways how to make money on the mobile market: Small games with advertisings and gacha. And that's pretty hard to change. No one pays full price for a mobile game.
It's strange, but that's the current situation.
gacha is the future, even triple A games includes gacha nowdays, blizzard,EA,take2 etc.
@@arifgunawan9329 the future is shit then
kusa kusa, imagine whaling for 2D PNG cards
Le* me simping for 2D PNG with full voice acting
The duck is the wisest hence it is hunted
If you haven’t whaled then you never truly loved the game or it’s characters
"It's just a card"
I can never say that to Jeanne D'Arc
-says the F2P player himself-
comming back after she cry while getting katalina on legfest.
those roll made me salty asf.
Thats why im still not moving from being f2p gang
I’ll never get gacha because to me what happens when you eventually become disinterested in it? If you’ve sunk an abhorrent amount of money into some virtual pictures there’s not going to be any form of return past the shot of dopamine and adrenaline you got hit with the moment you pulled something good. Doesn’t it just eventually turn into a monument of shame unless you indefinitely keep periodically tossing money into it?
yeah its basically sunk cost fallacy
"THATS IT. WE'RE HAVIN ROAST DUCK TONIGHT."
This comment is a reminder that Subaru, despite abhorring paying for gacha, succumbed to Katalina New Year's skin and has joined Fubuki and Suisei in that pay for a gacha game camp.
Y'all in here gon' learn gacha hell.
PNGs are life, y'all.
