The girl is realising life will never be the same, her first 15 years passed by so quickly, so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget. It is not biographical (Su was 14 when it was recorded) but they could relate - they were already playing metal concerts, not just attending their first one. The neck brace pays homage to X Japan's founder, drummer, pianist and main composer Yoshiki who damaged his neck so badly while headbanging that he needed surgery. BABYMETAL have used the neck brace a lot in live concerts including having some where everybody in the audience had to wear one (including when they played Tokyo Dome and they gave out 55k neck braces with remote controlled LED bulbs ... and another 55k the next night). At shows in 2014 on or near their own 15th birthdays Yuimetal (in Paris) and Moametal (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' when Su-metal handed them the mic and stand half way through the song for them to finish it off ... and Su-metal seamlessly stepped into their place with the choreo. There are only fancam videos for those. The same thing happened at the Legend M concert in 2019 on Moametal's 20th birthday - 20 is the official coming of age to be an adult in Japan. A great live version - so many to choose from, but live at Legend 1997 (Su-metal's 16th birthday party in December 2013) is always a great choice. Look for that posted by abr metal or Gans Tomas for the best quality (and safe to use) videos.
You def need to check out the Official Live version of this. Along with the Moa Headbanger ver where she takes over halfway through for her 20th birthday. Then check out Momo Headbanger that she sing for her birthday...you will be suprised what both girls can do.
