Nice day to be out exploring for sure. Next time you are out in those areas with the gravel banks, understand one thing. All the gold pieces that would be found in the sides are still diluted/spread out. So what you need to do is find a collection point for the gold that has eroded from the side banks. That gold will have a chance to be washed and create concentrations. Drop straight down from the banks and dig were all the liberated gold has settled. Dig until you find layering and sample there.
Hi George, I kind of like prospecting alone...it becomes a kind of meditation for me. Have you looked into the CVGP? They have a lot of outings in Virginia. I belong to them although I've never gone out with them. I hear they're pretty good.
