Recommend counting with pairs of cards as they sometimes cancel each other out and so you don't have to count numbers as often. Also, counting only works if you have a certain multiplier times the minimum bet at the table (I read a lot of these books in college, but never had the funds to put the knowledge to work). So 20X a minimum bet of $10 would be $200 starting amount. Automatic shuffle machines are a no-go and typically finding low deck tables is hard (unless downtown Vegas is your thing). Sadly, they've changed the rules so much to prevent card counters from prospering.
Counters still prosper plently. By "changed the rules" maybe you mean surveillance in that they catch counters far faster than ever before and will back you off the moment they suspect you as an advantage player. There are ways around this tho, by NOT spreading between the min and max bet sizes with the count, and also by deviating from optimal strategy at times to throw off anybody that is watching, yes you give up some EV by doing so but your EV is only as good as the amount of hours you get to play. Ok so your card count is up to plus 6..so there is a good chance some good cards come out kings ten etc..g8 you bet big..but what happens if those tens and kings land on the dealer?
All it does is give you the best odds to maximize your profit. Let's you know when to bet bigger because the deck has much more bigger cards left. And when to walk away because said big cards are a lot less. Therefore having to depend on hitting multiple times having higher bust odds.
IF you learn to count AND use optimal strategy charts to play, it can increase your edge to 51% or more. That means you win very slightly more than you lose, but you will still lose, a lot. Statistics can be a biotch.

You count every card you see as they are all coming from the same shoe. The more players the more information you'll have but the better you'll have to be at counting.
There are two types of shuffle machines. The bad one for the player is the continuous shuffle machine as cards are shuffled back into the shoe after each hand. So I’m guessing there are different goals (hits/stays) based off your hand , and obviously this is multiple hands but I’m confused on how to use these +1, 0, and -1. So it’s be best to hit when it’s a minus one differential?
@@RandallCory so if I have a bunch of +1s that could benefit me would that take away from the benefit of the table? Meaning I shouldn’t try to maximize my hand because i could be taking away -+1cards?
Unfortunately this count is not effective enough for the current casino conditions. It treats a 2 the same ada 5. When playing against a 6 or 8 deck shoe, you will sometimes have many more 2s out of the deck than 5s. During these times, you will think that you have an advantage, but because of the number of 5s still yet to be played, you are at a disadvantage and you will have raised your bet. You will also miss play 16 vs a ten. You will stand or surrender when you should be hitting. I at least count the 3,4,5, and 6 as plus 2 and the 2 and 7 as plus 1. The Ace and tens as minus 2. Keep a separate count of Aces so you don’t play the hands wrong.
@@RandallCory The player advantage is based on reducing the total possible combinations of turning stiff hands into pat hands. The 5 offers 5 possible combinations because it will convert all 5 stiff hands into pat hands. It’s the only card that does that. A 2 will only convert 15 and a 16 into pat hands and 19,20, and 21 are not possible hands to make when drawing a 2. Only in games where the dealer hits soft 17 can the dealer make 19 when drawing a 2. Drawing a 2 to 12,13, and 14 keeps the bust a possibility. You can still win by playing the simple plus minus strategy, but your advantage will be less. That means that you will endure greater losses and will need a bigger bankroll to avoid bankruptcy. Playing against a single deck, it’s right to stand on 77 vs a 10, if you can’t surrender, yet you would hit 15 and 16. You need a 7 to beat the dealer and you already hold two of them. Using the simple plus minus strategy, you could have a minus count with a huge amount of 5s already played and not know it. So you would be hitting your 16 vs a 10 when you should be surrendering or standing. Where are you going to draw a 5 when they are all gone? You will also have an advantage and should be betting more and also not know it. The reverse is also true when you have a plus count based on the excess removal of 2s and 3s from the deck. Now you should be hitting your 16 vs a 10 with your plus count because of the surplus of 5s in the deck. Blackjack today is much more difficult to beat than it was in the 60s and 70s, so we must make use of as much information as we can get from our counting strategy.
@@RandallCory you need to play whatever strategy you use without making any mistakes. If you can play a multi-count strategy well, then use it. If not, then choose a simpler strategy to play. It’s better to play a less effective strategy well than it is to play a more effective strategy badly.

So that means if all those low cards (+1) are played out, then more 10 point value cards are out, which can possibly give us 20-21. Most people would be satisfied to land on 20 their first time. So it's kind of like predicting when you may hit 20 a bunch of times if in a perfect scenario you were certain all the small cards were gone / almost gone? So is drawing cards is what makes non APs lose money? Because they get stuck on like 12-13 and a noob may just hit another card just b/c it sounds logical if you have no idea whats in the deck. Hi, love your videos. So, I'm playing this on a mobile app based game. In it, what the dealer does is it splits the deck of cards.. Like puts a solid plastic in between the deck. And starts the game... As we play, when the plastic is hit he mixes all the cards again and starts over. So 1. how can this counting technique work in this case? And 2. does this happen in real life also?
Yes. It happens irl too. That's their sign to shuffle the decks back up. You can still use this because they're only eliminating a few cards. The count may be slightly off. But never by more than 2-3.
Thank you for replying. If I can ask (if you know) When we sit at a BJ table, how do we know how many deck of cards they use? And wouldn't we have to start at the beginning of a new case of cards? (Because we wouldn't know what the true or running count would be if we started around half way)
Not really seeing what 1 single running count number is supposed to be telling you next about a giant stack of cards? Just that more higher, or lower cards will be coming next, as in a pattern? How does that 1 number predict the next card values, beyond simple observation, and what's the significance and process of wanting to end at zero or whatever you said?
you weren't truly counting. that would imply you were keeping track of all the cards played (so keeping count) and converting to the true count. also betting higher as the true count increases. for card counting to work you also need perfect basic strategy.

Hi, love your videos. So, I'm playing this on a mobile app based game. In it, what the dealer does is it splits the deck of cards.. Like puts a solid plastic in between the deck. And starts the game... As we play, when the plastic is hit he mixes all the cards again and starts over. So
1. how can this counting technique work in this case? And
2. does this happen in real life also?
Yes. It happens irl too. That's their sign to shuffle the decks back up. You can still use this because they're only eliminating a few cards. The count may be slightly off. But never by more than 2-3.
I'm confused on the purpose of counting cards

I did it 4 times but didn't end up at 0🤔
@@RandallCory yes, thank you, I started getting it right after. How many seconds is a really good time to finish a whole pack in?
Thank you for replying. If I can ask (if you know)
When we sit at a BJ table, how do we know how many deck of cards they use? And wouldn't we have to start at the beginning of a new case of cards? (Because we wouldn't know what the true or running count would be if we started around half way)
You need to invest into another deck of cards
I think he busted with all those cards he drew
Not really seeing what 1 single running count number is supposed to be telling you next about a giant stack of cards? Just that more higher, or lower cards will be coming next, as in a pattern? How does that 1 number predict the next card values, beyond simple observation, and what's the significance and process of wanting to end at zero or whatever you said?
basic proability, learn this then use deviations, as he says
You miss counted
Cody Avila Oooooooooooo
@@RandallCory no, you actually miscounted.
I always knew instinctively that low cards mean high cards are about to be played. I didn't know I was card counting though.
you weren't truly counting. that would imply you were keeping track of all the cards played (so keeping count) and converting to the true count. also betting higher as the true count increases. for card counting to work you also need perfect basic strategy.
am i the only one that gets a little confused when counting even tho is easy lol
I’ve done that six times and I always end on negative one. I’m not missing any cards I’m very confused
Double check with a game of solitare lmao

Your counting wrong lol I can count cards
Corypto 😂😂 you’re the best corypto I’m your favorite subscriber, even tho you still can’t count cards lol
You miss-counted at 5:02 difficult isnt it 🤗 I would've thought it would be easier to say that 10 is 'zero' then you wouldn't have to do 'negative' anything? Just a thought.
Ok so I must been fucken stupid cause I still don’t understand how you doing all that 1 -1 0 etc is helping you win hands of blackjack can someone explain it to me a little bit more dummed down you know like a lot player dumbed down lol
It's doesn't help you win hands, it helps you to know when you have an advantage.
It's very complex, I would need to make a video to explain it, you can google it.
