    It's so wonderful to witness Paul's classic figure skating technique teaching, which is based on classic ballet technique. A terrific teacher!

    Wow- what a treat to watch & listen to these lessons with Paul Wylie! I loved watching him in his competitive skating years, & it's equally enjoyable to see how wonderfully he shares his wisdom with you as a teacher/ coach! I love the way he can so clearly explain aspects of technique, breaking them down to specific details, & describing how it should feel to you. Even though he challenges you & points out problematic areas, he's so patient, encouraging & supportive! You are thriving & growing so much under his guidance!

    Dave, how fun to watch you skate! I watched Paul Wylie compete. It's so fun to watch him as a coach. I'm so thankful that he has recovered from his heart issue! I'm a violinist and my teacher always emphasized muscle memory. When I'm working on a difficult passage and I get it down, I do it over and over so my fingers and bowing hand remember it. Once it's in muscle memory you've got it! Bravo!

    PURE CLASS. I used to LOVE that annual PBS skating exhibition show that Paul hosted from Harvard. I think it was called "An Evening Of Champions." (??) Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on the title.

    Dave you are a star - well done you. I love that Paul Wylie is teaching you the Axel in same way my British coach did nearly 40 years ago. I can still hear, in my head, ‘jump out of the circle😊’

    You looked more comfortable in your axel here than the last axel video that you posted. Nice improvement. Nice sit position at the end too !
    I love hearing Paul's explanation. Wish I had him as coach when I skated decades ago. Is he only coaching part time at LP now ?

    Dave, you need to tuck in your laces before you trip on them. Also when you are on your right back edge before you step forward, you need to point the toe of the skate. It looks like your foot and leg are at a right angle. Then bring the left foot back in just before you step forward onto it and step up into the axel rotation.

    • @TheSkatingLesson
      @TheSkatingLesson  10 місяців тому +1

      I am working on it. My laces are extra long.

    I have to think one of the hardest things is to divide your brain to concentrate on getting six things right at one time. So the idea of focusing on one part of it, training that mental muscle to become automatic and then integrating another pointer can be a legit way to build it up. Although, that can feel like a longer path to having the whole thing come together. It was the only way i could get a golf swing to happen. I did a bunch of reps just worried about keeping my eye on the ball, not worried about where the ball went. When I could do that, I added the next thing.

    • @TheSkatingLesson
      @TheSkatingLesson  10 місяців тому

      Oh yes. It is why repetitions are so important.
