@TheRinc3wind Hitting is the foundation. Popping includes the creativity.. style and whatnot, but without hits you are not popping. Know your foundations!
Even though I seen Djidawi do the same moves in every competition. I swear his twist-o-flex's, dime stops, waves, and toyman never gets old. When popkun attempted the twist-o-fIex I had mixed feelings like, why are you doing that? But mad props to both, they are great and amazing. Just wish Popkun didn't start dogging Djidawi style after what Djidawi did in the beginning, it was bad on his hand.
@kyeatspie Popping is evolving - nowadays pops and hits aren't foundation they are just one of technics ( very important), you can dance popping without hits. perfect example is Djidawi who is one of the best (many achievments like eurobattle, just debout , dancing in IBE 2009, Uk B-boy )
Djdawi is pretty good. He's smooth and energetic. But I saw just a little little tiny bit of repeats but no problem. On the other hand, Popkun really knew what he was doing and his improvisation with his movements are really creative. His Hits are very clean too. Both we're great and awesome battle, but I think Popkun took this one on my opinion. Respect to both. :)
I see a lot of comments saying Popkin hits more, but dimestops are hits too, and Popkun stays in a small range of motion for almost all of the battle, until the last round, where his waving and transitions get sloppy. I feel like he stays in his comfort zone, around his head. Djidawi took this one by being more diverse with the music and having musicality, which linked his dance to the song. In my opinion, Djidawi won, but that's just my opinion.
To you people who wonders: "why do they pop/hit so much?, thats because hitting is the best technique to mark beats -> showing musicality = real dance and not just moves (like robert muraine, pacman, omarion etc.)"
popping is a dance with 5 elements in it, it has boogaloo , waving , hitting , robotic and isolation. pretend a mindmap and in the middle we have popping and around the popping we have boogaloo, waving and on. u dont need to hit to be a popper, its just that Hitting is the most importan basic in popping. its the same as a toprock and sixstep in bboying. the name popping came from pop/hit people was poppin/hitting.
Popkun ended his first round weak, and lost it on his second and third, and Djidawi battled him. Props to both, but thats what I saw. Djidawi also threw in alot of foundation in the 3rd, from a battle perspective, I get it. Plus he had a consistant flow. I really enjoy seeing his improvement
im not trying to kiss ass or anything but your toyman and wavings are as good as it gets.also salah repeats moves too and he still the best by many people including me.Keep the love for the dance men you inspired many people you know and many more that cant see you in person but watch your videos to get inspired some copy will copy you and some wont.Peace.
I'm trying to find out what the name of the song is that has the lyrics, "Tonight, I feel like I wanna do something." Can anybody please tell me what song it is?
@BoogieCharmander Popping is a dance with 5 elements? I have no idea where you got that concept from, but I've never heard it explained that way. I've heard of people defining popping as an umbrella term in which many styles fall under, which include the styles you've mentioned, but it's not specifically those 5. You MUST HIT to be a popper. Everyone debates the definition of popping, but almost every sub sect of popping demands that you hit on beat, whether it be G-Style, EB, Boppin', whatever.
my honest opinion on this battle, not hating, just an opinion from a huge fan of dance....djidawi is very one dimensional and has been doing the same moves for awhile now and as far as Popkun, I enjoyed his creativity. Round 1 - Djidawi, Round 2 - Popkun and Round 3 - Popkun (barely).
@TheRinc3wind Aye.. I don't think you truly know what you're talking about. Popping is evolving but the foundation will always be there, without a foundation to build on how can it truly be popping. Oh and Djidawi does indeed use hits, he's not a hard hitter, but he for sure uses hits. You should know that if you really admire him lol.
Poppin is just pure hitting. If you want the correct term its called funkstyle or g-style. They are both same but come from different roots. But poppin is just hitting, and angles. People refer this as poppin because it striked out more. If I was to call a dance style an original move i'd call it boogaloo because boogaloo came first before poppin and waving.
@HatakiSagara its just that we dont understand his style well, he doesn't win r16 korea 2011, joining brand new mind, win many other competitions and getting into this finals that easy (: excuse for my bad grammar. keep on dancing!
@TheBlacktionMan Popping now envolves lots of styles, not only popping, it's like doing newstyle withou bounce, it is legit, back in popping pete days popping didn't envolve bogaloo, neck-o-flex, puppet style, etc, the style beeng called now popping envolves everything, changing the shape of ure waving, small rotations, quick twist-o-flex, replace the snare priviledged position of hitting, junior bogaloo shows that, popping taco shows it, if u don't know these names im sayng, u should not discus
@leopardskinpants I actually thought Popkun was very repetitive, he would do the same thing as far as the "concepts" with his head n face? Which didn't really go anywhere, which he did in his first and second round. His second round he stopped popping, and when u do that, u have to do something. I do think Djidawi kind of put both of his rounds together, not so much waving but his arms and twistos, but in that last round he was way more in the music then Popkun.
Dang I have to admire Djidawi's style. His waving, rolls, twist-o-flex's and dimestops are sick!!!
His flow is everything
Both of these guys were great! Congrats to the both of you for making it to the finals! Keep up the good work.
I'm a big fan too and I agree .. You're right
DJIDAWI 💯🦁✔

I agree with you...
Hey I would like to say that you were incredible at IBE 2009, Much respect for everyone there. ;)
@TheRinc3wind Hitting is the foundation. Popping includes the creativity.. style and whatnot, but without hits you are not popping. Know your foundations!
Djidawi's always perfect with his tricks.
His moves are so enegetic.
thank man =D

@fashionNbeauty thanks
I love Djidawi's form.
what a killer battle...diji really killed it with the boog and precision while popkun killed it with tech and musicality with his tutting/hands.

@Yia2k12 Poppin waaaaaaassssss just pure hitting, in the times when it was an independent style.
Second song is: Shash'U - G-Groove. This song is really amazing.
Djidawi killed this, alot more varied and clean.
@BoogieCharmander thanks i didnt know that
very nice djidawi! i m still searching the song you danced in IBE ( bionic , salah slim boogie etc ) i cant find it hah
@walkitout321 I agree. there should be no need for disrespect if u've got game and confidence.
popkun is happy with his head ... all his moves is related to his head....djdawi is brilliant dancer,talented.....best regards from egypt

Dimestop is a dimestop. A hit is a hit. In a dimestop you stop on a dime. In a hit you flex your muscles.
@BoogieCharmander and tutting ? it is an element of popping ?
Nice !!
Songs please ? :)
You a beast with attitude brah. 2nd only to Salah and Meech in my book.

@HatakiSagara its just that we dont understand his style well, he doesn't win r16 korea 2011, joining brand new mind, win many other competitions and getting into this finals that easy (: excuse for my bad grammar. keep on dancing!

what is 2° music?

Maybe you should watch Les Twins, they greet their opponents Before, During and After their battles. Do YOU know the meaning of battle?
