Another great dry fly...nice and slim...like the wing combo/profile of the deer hair and CDC....very helpful tip...thanks for sharing George...all the best
Hi george, just found you recently and watch you every night, just a question if I may,I am a novice fly tyer but can tie simple dry flies that catch fish, usually with thread body and split feather wing and hackle, this represents a thin body like the natural dun.why then do you use dubbing that makes the fly, yes, attractive but somewhat fat and maybe overdressed.should a dry fly be thin with tying thread,or should I use running as you seem to be
A great question William,I tie certain flies using dubbing for the bodies,it provides a certain translucency to the fly,and whilst the dubbing appears to give the fly a fat appearance to the fly,the trout don't seem to mind at all,and when fished for a while and becomes a bit battered and straggly it seems to be even more attractive to the fish,go figure.
Looks good, I’m gonna buy CDC and deer hair over the weekend and give it a go , is there a difference in elk hair and deer hair? Would u put any kind of floatant on that
There can be differences in even different pieces of deerhair, elk hair will do the job fine though,no floatant necessary if dressed on a light hook, let me know how you get on,best of luck David.
Fanastic to see you back at the vice again George. Enlightining, delightfully simple flies. Keep them coming!
Many thanks Paul..

Thanks for watching!
Good to see you george.great looking pattern buddy.thanks for sharing
No worries
Brilliant
Many thanks..
Great to see you back George do you need to use a dry fly hook
for all Dry flies
Not necessarily, however a light hook is imperative to get the best from dries.
I think a TMC 200R may be the closest match for a mass-produced hook for this fine-looking fly. I'll have to try this one.
It will do nicely..
