Afternoon Adam Chan Kungfu fam. I have no idea about Yi Quan or spear work, but I think people need to understand WHY they changed the spear art into a fist art, and how the Kungfu genius ancestors maintained their culture when weapons were outlawed. Amazing
Superb. I never would have made the connection between empty hand power development and that type of weapons training, but it’s so clear after this demonstration. Thank you!
Lots of people forget that the lines of long, short weapons can translate to empty hand work and increase your power, strength, grip and you have something tangible in your hand. Hopefully that makes sense. Boss, your lines are very sharp and you keep structural integrity in all of your moves. Lovin'it👍. Totally good stuff.
Greetings Adam and Chris. Thank you. The Ancestors understood deep knowledge. it has stood the test of time. Never forget them, were would we be without their knowledge☀️🌿🙏🏾
Before I make a sword kata form. I'm gonna make a new kata. I previously used a sand stance. I think a ice stance. Give me a 72 leg work only so I can plug in my fist and my strike zones. So I will have a strike sand kata and a walk ice kata before making my sword kata. I will take 72 capture and modify it. Like the sand kata was modified from the 3 poster stances from songoku.
Great Question. I learned WC Pole which is taught right hand forward and all the Chinese I know do it that way. But I’m not wired that way and do it left hand forward. If its a weapon I’m going to pick it up and use it in my natural way. I do of course practice it both ways as an exercise for balancing core resistance exercise and raw strength development for hand work.
And hey man, aside from a gun, a staff is the weapon for self defense. You can take on multiple attackers and you might not kill the guy too, great for legal stuff 😂😂

Excellent video. Thank you!
That is true before I became crippled I was introduced to a meteor hammer. It helps a great deal with a few things actually.

Do you have any ideas why some arts hold the pole left arm forward or vice versa?

Where did you get that pole from?

Love weapon training but don't you need a license to carry a weapon even though some people might have a stick at home
