Final Fantasy actually having interesting combat and a story that doesn't take itself seriously is a huge deal in of itself. Totally up for more JRPGs taking a chill pill with the exposition.
There are actually a full story behind those expositions. Dlcs gonna explain of that similar to XV actually.
I love the Lich cutscene, I should have expected it but it still came unexpectedly.
Is inevitable, every major franchise will have a souls-like spin off

Jack is unironically the most chad FF protagonist we've ever had. I'm having such a blast with this game. It actually pulled my away from elden ring.

A Dirge Of Cerberus Remake would be absolutely awesome and badass to play.
And Vincent Valentine is one of my favorite FF7 characters.
I know this meant to take the mick out of the game but this honest trailer made me want to play the game more

@@Iwannagethighrightno As someone who plays on the PS4 Pro, the PS4 version has some really bad resolution/graphics (which I hope gets a patch/fix ASAP), but I can't say much because words can't justify the awesomeness and complexity of the gameplay.
It's pretty great for some reason, play it with friends too is what I'd recommend

@@burger_kinghorn over a decade ago I went full NES emulator with FF1 and many others, but I didn't remember how unintuitive the whole tent/cabin save system was after playing so many other rpgs during the years. But it's still a pending issue to finish that game one day!. Btw I still have the nes cartridge AND that outstanding manual, miraculously saved from mom's several giveaways (as it's tradition)

Ironically this is more similar to the first final fantasy games anything before ff7.
Even the story feels that way but a more free combat since it begins the same way chosen by a crystal.
If this game release back in 2010, I would see ppl have a different view for it.
Regardless, this spin off series has a potential to be hit and they only need to continue moving forward with the other stuff and it will eventually go smoother. It’s technically a rare game these days though despite the criticism that ppl make it out for how much it’s cost.
If this is made by a small group of developers, I can see more ppl are onboard with it.
I love that they call Jed Ginger Prompto, but can we all acknowledge that Jack is basically just blonde Cor Leonis from FFXV?

A surprisingly solid game for a spin-off that looked like a fanmade design. You really can't trust anything anymore because honestly, it's a crime for the game to be this good, lol

I’m enjoying this game in hard mode and it has something I’ve asked to every souls /bloodborne game . A save spot before every boss . I hated that , I don’t care how hard a boss is just leave me right there . Don’t wanna have to go through bunch of guards that might hit me before reaching a boss that might one shot me haha at least with the save spot I get one shot but get back to it quickly. Anyway I’m close to beat this one loving it :)

I wait for Niohs as much as Souls, as Nioh has BY FAR the best combat system in the genre, if not the best action combat system in all of gaming. From Software’s world building and enemy design with Team Ninja’s combat would be extraordinary.

Indeed. I get the comedic effect they were going for, but Nioh's focus is so different from Souls. Souls combat is serviceable at best and mechanically bereft when put up against Nioh. Not even fair to compare them, because it ain't fair to Souls; what makes enemy encounters special in Souls is how they're contextualized by the world and level design. In terms of depth and variety, though, it's not even close. Nioh is on a completely different level with a far higher skill ceiling.
I would love a Dirge remake. It was actually a good 3rd person shooter

@@rafaelcafonso Your memories are lying to you. Because I also had that feeling... and tried playing it again. It's one of the worst games sqeenix has ever made. Makes ff13 look like a 10/10. Even FF2 is somehow more charming.

Played it to finish back then.. and yeah, the gameplay is not it is strong point.
But i enjoyed it tho.. well mostly because the story and it is vincent.

Can't say too much without spoiling, but I actually really enjoyed playing. It doesn't matter that it's not as good as its predecessors. That's not the point whatsoever. It's supposed to be taken objectively. Hence the word Origin. In other words, it's intended to be treated like a seperate side story of sorts. For this game, Jack's a fantastic main character. In the sense that he's badass, calm, and collected. He kind of reminds me of Kurosaki Ichigo. Without the comedic reactions, of course. The PS5 controls are easy, and the cutscenes are very well done. The way the story is structured overall, feels like I'm finally playing an RPG that's been done correctly for the first time. For the best experience please play with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Ah Final Fantasy. I do love Final Fantasy, but you know what I love more? Alan Wake, which you absolutely should do an honest game trailer for yknow.

Playing on story mode actually did make it fall off. I had to put it on ice and rush to a doctor who suggested I immediately put the game back on Action mode.... so here we are again... getting two shot.
The protagonist of this game is Jack. Okay. He's pretty much a younger version of Watchmen creator and comic book writer Alan Moore. That was basically Alan Moore in his younger days.
You know how Jack curses for some reason. This was gag or a jab at the Dragon Ball and One Piece series. And the tropes these two franchises are known. Final Fantasy was more of deconstruction to the rpg genre and experiments to push the boundaries of the genre. Square Enix characters are represented as flawed, emotional, and complex. They are also smart.

What I want to know is: Can thieves steal in this game or do they just run away?
Thief steals a skill from enemy for limited use in this. The skill is called instant ability.

I watched one of those full movie videos because I needed to see how this is an Origin. It's not as bad as I thought!
It’s a reimagining of FF1.
After the first actual mission, it even shows the image from the first game of the four heroes standing on the side of a mountain as the sun sets/rises over Cornelia in the distance.
Hit some strong nostalgia beats for me.
@@davetheblade actually no, because of FF1 and its time loops this can actually be considered Canon to FF1 since you don't really see how and why he went back.

Besides the dig at Nioh (which is the greatest action game of the past two generations and makes Souls combat look barebones in comparison) at the beginning, this "trailer" captures SOP perfectly. Nice.
