I don’t really comment on stuff, but I’ve followed you guys since you found the property. You all look so much happier. Within the first 4-5 months, Ben especially found a smile that I hadn’t seen before in the videos. What a fantastic journey towards your dreams.
An older video of theirs popped up on my feed and I watched it and I noticed that too. Yes, it’s been so wonderful seeing the blessings being poured on this family.
Your boys are getting such a good education, raising the chickens, feeding, watering and moving them daily for a couple of months, then butchering them and all the work that goes with that. Then there's the baby raising education, dressing a small active child isn't easy! Keeping a little one safe and out of trouble is a lot of work and teaches them the benefits of safe relationships. They are also up on food sourcing and preparation, they know what a balanced meal is. Ben and Meg, you're doing a marvellous job raising your kids, they're going to be amazingly talented adults.
Love this channel because this is one of the few real Homesteading Channels. Meg and Ben do their own work, find solutions for problems they encounter. Can understand why they don't have time to video on the frequency we all would like, but look at the progress they have made in such a short period of time. Thanks Hollar Family, have a great Thanksgiving. BTW, hope you have another good hunt this year.
I agree completely! Ben is a problem solver and very creative. Meg is an amazing cook, mom, and you can see how much she loves and supports her hubby. The boys are smart, helpful, and caring. And Buggie is just a charmer! Hopefully this winter Ben and Meg can find a little more time for their knife and soap making-- or just having some down time to relax. Happy Thanksgiving, Hollar family. Thanks for sharing your lives with us. ❤️❤️❤️
I agree with you 100%. True pioneer living with this family. All their own work and using their own resources and not living in a "NEW HOUSE build" with the need of 100's of acres. I would have to say they are the ONLY true to heart people on the you tube platform. All the other channels have the "more" syndrome. Always wanting MORE.
Meg, you are surely a woman in her element! I have watched you in the midst of cooking marathons and processing and canning sessions. You are an example of a Virtuous Woman. The meals that you prepare for your family come from deep within your heart. Your family is truly blessed to have you in their lives. I can’t say enough about how you have impressed me with your skills, endurance, creativity, and unending love for your family as you make all of their lives richer and complete🥰
Look at all those teeth!!! Miss Buggy is looking like her beautiful momma to my eye. All the guys are wonderful. God has laid this family in pleasant places.
Well, I'm gonna start at the end: Buggie was adorable, talking to the camera! I think that's the closest close-up we've had yet. She's just way too cute. I'll bet the entire family enjoys taking care of her. ~ I always love watching Ben as he comes up with a new idea using old stuff. The warm-water, mobile, outdoor sink was genius. You can tell Meg loved it! Thanks for showing the details of how to cut up a chicken!!
You all make me smile !! You're the real deal and I love it. Ben, you my friend were created to Homestead 😅 There is NOTHING you can't figure out. And Meg, you AMAZE me in the kitchen. All the awesome food you prepare, you make me want to do better. Love how you inspire me. God Bless and have an awesome Thanksgiving 🦃
Excellent idea on the use of the extra RV water heater. Processing whole chickens down into sections makes it so much easier to store in the freezer. Plus having the rest of the meat from the remaining carcus broken down into pieces to can is so delicious, and so much better than store canned chicken. Now that's my kind of fast food!!!
What an ingenious way to have hot water outside! I love it! You remind me of my dad. He could fix or build anything. That’s a wonderful gift anywhere, but especially on a homestead. It’s so cool that you’re able to harvest as a family. That’s my hope once we buy our property. A few of my kids might help, but some would be horrified at the butchering process. Were any of your kids squeamish when you first started butchering animals? Most of my “kids” are adults already and some think I’m crazy. A few are into it. Thanks for sharing your experience. I enjoy watching your family and I’m learning as much as I can, so maybe someday I’ll be able to successfully run my own homestead and grow most of our food. I love that you use every part of the chicken. I’m all for reducing waste. Y’all had a lot of chicken to can! If you need a couple of canned chicken ideas, some super easy meals that my kids love are creamy chicken and rice and chicken lasagna. Melt together canned chicken, cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese and sour cream. Whatever ratio works for you, thin with milk as needed. Serve over rice or layered between lasagna noodles, topped with cheese and baked. It’s a super fast dish when I’m busy. Just add veggies. And maybe bread 😂
That is so awesome how you don't waste any bit of that chicken. Sounds like you guys I've got it down to a science. Great seeing your boys help out. I love seeing them take care of their little sis. 🥰💖💖💖
I am so hooked on your videos that I started worrying when I didn’t get a notification last week. So great to be able to follow your amazing journey from the suburbs to the homesteading
hey guys, I used to work at a duck farm and we would cut up are ducks on a plastic cone so much easier to cut up less worries of cutting fingers and more control maybe you can make one on of stainless steal and attach it to your table just a suggestion.
You put out some of the greatest videos and I love them I'm always learning something new or remembering from my childhood. Thank you so much and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! GOD BLESS U ALL!!
I have been watching your videos from your beginning. Selling your house, the journey in your first camper. Meeting Justin Rhodes in CA. You guys looked so young. When I found you first I thought I watched all your videos but not. I have enjoyed watching your family grow. And your lives change for the better. Love your videos keep up the great work. 💜💜
I love your idea! It worked! Don't worry about when you video, or when you post. I get notifications, so I don't miss out! Your boys are on the way to being great men. Well rounded, caring, smart, handy. Well done!
Rubber/silicon grippy gloves make holding the carcass while cutting a whole lot easier, and makes for less scars on the hands. Love the hot water mechanizing. As you get older the hot water helps keep the hands functioning on cold days.
First off, your daughter is just a doll! You remind me of my brother n law. He never throughs away any mechanical parts, etc. He can always fix up anything . When I was growing up we raised fryer chickens....I loved the processing of it all. this brought back many good memories. Great job!!
You guys living the dream of lot of people. Enjoy, you deserve it. Buggy is so very cute. Soon she will be a chatter box. Hardly can wait to see her talking walking. Your boys are a dream of any parents. You are truly fantastic with them. Congratulation. You are an example to many. 🤩😇
True pioneer couple. All your own work, not suffering from the "more" syndrome. Always wanting more and that isn't enough. You can see a common denominator with all the other channels. Buying bigger, building bigger and better homes etc. Thank you for being REAL.
Ben you are so knowledgeable and willing to take a risk. Great to have hot water outdoors. Buggy is loving the chicken and it looks like she doesn't mind having it for another meal. An awesome family to watch; making a positive impact on the future of America.
Given the age of your place, you may want to look at your electrical service. You might want to make sure that the breaker that feeds your shop is a GFCI breaker. It would make sure that power is shut off if water and electricity should get together some time. I'm thinking more of the plucker ten years from now rather than your water heater. If you have an electrician out to do something else (or you can do it) it's a simple replacement. Love you guys.
OMG what a beautiful baby that lil Bug is. Wow And she grew up with the camera so she does not mind it at all. She will have her own channel at 6 years old. Maybe 5. And Ben's ingenuity is always fun to watch. Love yall. Have a great week to everyone; even the camera shy older offspring.
You guys are awesome , love that you share your experiences of all you do concerning processing your own foodstuffs. We just bought our first house on 5 acres and are planning a good sized garden and also gonna have laying chickens and meat birds and future plans for at least 1 meat pig. I'll be asking questions alot in the spring lol.
Hey, guys love your channel you and your family are a joy to watch. I heart you say something about putting noodles on for your chicken. Just wanted to share this when you cook noodles bring the water to a boil put you noodles in bring back to a boil put a lid on them and turn them off leave for 20 minutes and they're done. Saves power and you don't have t watch them. I hope you can use this if you don't already know it. Love you guys happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I don't care what people think. Hot water is a wonderful thing to have. Congratulations! Yes, passing on the knowledge is what keeps the dreams of others alive. They see 1st hand it's not difficult to do but it provides so much from a simple animal. This is what is so great. Young people learning a needed life skill to possibly keep themselves & their own families fed in the (near) future. Buggy is a natural vlogger.
First off... that baby girl is adorable!! ) I love the sink apparatus!! I need your crew to come over to my house and help me set up a true "homestead" I have always felt a little insecure about doing a proper sectioning of a chicken but after watching this I feel confident I can do it right! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING you show us here! Legos are awesome in teaching construction but so is all the things you get done around the homestead! Bravo!
Don't mind me - just catching up to real-time life with you guys on a binge watch. 😂 THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this whole bird section cutting! I've never seen how it's done. I'm very appreciative of all the knowledge you have shared. ❤
That mobile sink with an RV water heater with Propane heater and DC electric ignition is ingenious! That is extremely impressive! Now I want to make one! I have the sink and the hose connections but no RV water heater. I'll have to figure out some type of battery too. You have brilliant ideas Ben. I had my car worked on at a shop and they had a kitchen sink sitting by their dumpster so I asked if I could have it. They said okay, it had just shown up overnight at their dumpster. I have an old facet from my kitchen sink I can install in it. I have old drain pipes I can attach at the bottom of the sink like he did. I can't wait to try this out. Love the way you part out the chicken and the chicken broth making. thanks so much for this Hollars! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
I absolutely love this video I love seeing your family so close! I love to see how God has blessed you and strengthened you all❣️ May everything you said your hands to do be blessed in Jesus name amen! Thank you for sharing we need to see way more of this it is exactly what people need to get back to!
I just smile big at your excitement Ben. Portable sink with hot water. NICE!!! I hadn't realized how much your boys shot up over the summer. They are looking like young men. Buggy is so cute and growing too.
Ben, I've followed you, Meg, and family since you left California, and you are definitely a "jack if all trades" if I ever saw one! You can do anything from building a house from start to finish, fix and work on all kinds a machinery, raise and harvest gardens and animals, (the list is too big to put in words) and all the while you are teaching and setting a perfect example for your children on how to do the same work someday! You and Meg are great parents and teachers!👏 Little Buggy was so cute eating that chicken!🥰 Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!! (I remember those Thanksgivings in the camper. I still don't know how Meg fixed all that food in a tiny camper kitchen!!)😊
As ur talking buggy is busy picking her chicken she drops off of daddy’s shirt.. I’m lmbo watching her.. I’m so happy u got ur baby girl.. she not ever going to feel left out with all the love from her brothers n u two.. love all the kiddos the most but dang ur fun to watch.. I had a stroke last year died twice so glad I have ur family to watch during my recovery.
Wooooo, the only homesteader with a hot and cold water sink for processing on the farm❣️ Your feeding your baby the chicken and I was watching her enjoy it so much I had to replay to hear the content.
New subscriber. We are in the mountains of the Grand Canyon and we are educating ourselves along the way. Thank you for sharing your videos. You are doing great things.
You guys are amazing and you’re teaching your sons so much! My parents killed chickens on our farm and my Mother canned them. They were delicious and when we had unexpected company, my mother opened a couple jars, made dumplings or something else. You two accomplish SO much! I also like the way you plant your gardens in the ground...more for all of you that way!
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Little ladybug is so beautiful. You are a wonderful family,,, love how you all move together as a team. The boys function indoors n out rounded out, blessings to your family. Waiting for the guys to build a clay oven together with all of that red clay . Ben n Meg n the boys can do anything together. Nana Pelle🍀🕊🏠🪴👍
You guys make me wonder why more humans don't do what your doing, but that's why we are where we are, and hopefully lots more people watch u guys and learn. Thank you.
Ben, Meg and family, wish you all a very safe and blessed Thanksgiving! Love your family, channel and info! I wish I could be your neighbor and learn all the great stuff ya'll know! Smart young people!
Nice to see all the progress with the hot water and floor. Great chicken tutorial! Kids are growing so fast! Cool lego room! Would be awesome if you could connect the camper to the trailer some kind of way to expand your living space. Just a thought. And the ending with sweet baby sister was just too adorable 🥰 Happy Thanksgiving!🦃
Ingenious, I like it when people use what they have. This trait is often missing in the younger generation. I am so glad that you are teaching this to the next generation. I just deboned a turkey and I am making turkey soup right now.
When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s you rarely saw cut up chickens in the grocery so we always had whole chickens. My mom taught all of us kids (brothers included) how to cut up a chicken. One of the things I always do is cut the wings off first because it makes it easier to cut off the leg and thigh. I have to say that my mom cooked all the pieces to include the back pieces, and even today, these are my favorite pieces of the chicken. Not much meat on them but so good and juicy and tender. We also cut the wishbone piece off separate from the breast meat...and everyone fought over who got the wishbone! Nice work on your outdoor sink with hot water!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving! I feel blessed every time I watch the Hollar Homestead! You are a wonderful reminder of what we once had, until civilization caught up to us and took their eminent domain.
You guys are amazing! You’ve accomplished SO much since buying your farm! I love how you are teaching your boys and how much they help you, too! I grew up on a farm similar to yours and we butchered chickens, also. My mother canned a lot of chicken meat and she remarked how easy it was to grab a jar or two and soon she would be fixing dumplings to stew in with it. I love your farm and I’m happy that you found one with a barn and other helpful structures, as well. I really like your cow and calf! You are already gaining a great amount from your farm and that’s the way it is supposed to be! Good luck. 🍀
Great video! You guys are so knowledgeable about so many things. You're doing a great job raising your kids. I can't get over how much "Buggy" has grown. She is so adorable and happy and has the most beautiful eyes. Thank you for sharing. God bless you and your beautiful family. 💖💖
Hey Ben, the water heater is an Atwood 6 gallon DSI (direct spark ignitor) propane water heater. Winter is here, temps are already freezing over here in Asheville if you are leaving that water heater out in the weather do not turn the heat off! If you do it will freeze into a nice little block of solid ice and it will crack the aluminum tank. Believe you me it does not take anytime at all before the freeze cracks the tank. If you do not want to run out of propane due to it running all the time you can get the hydra flame. After market electric adapter for the water heater. Now you can heat it on electric or gas. Check it out!
Buggy is so cute like her Mom and the boys dont seem to mind work like their Dad. Always enjoy catching up on the Hollar Homestead. Hope you and your's a Happy Thanksgiving.
Great video, guys! I just love how you are able to use what you have and create such a successful homestead! It is so great that you have the older buildings and contents on your property since you are always able to turn “trash” into treasure.
I don’t really comment on stuff, but I’ve followed you guys since you found the property. You all look so much happier. Within the first 4-5 months, Ben especially found a smile that I hadn’t seen before in the videos. What a fantastic journey towards your dreams.
Yeah, what she said.
First of all. Great job on the hot water! That was interesting with the chicken. I wish you could have showing the plucker, never seen one.
An older video of theirs popped up on my feed and I watched it and I noticed that too. Yes, it’s been so wonderful seeing the blessings being poured on this family.
@@gloriahagg6293 He made it himself!

Totally agree with you, a well rounded education about virtually everything is a heck of boost into life, and learning to think outside the box.
Second this!
Agreed! There doesn’t seem to be anything Ben and Meg can’t do. Love y’all’s videos!
Buggy is so stinking adorable and the boys are so good with her. Makes me happy . Thanks for sharing.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more beautiful baby, she is a cutie. ❤️👍
I got so excited when I saw a new video, I've been going into Hollar-Withdrawals! LOL!!! (Also, Buggy may just need her own channel

God Bless and have an awesome Thanksgiving 🦃
We did it the same way this spring. It is so much nicer to break down some of the birds and canning everything. 😂 love the ending.
The outdoor sink is such a great idea. I'm looking forward to seeing how the barn and area around it develops.
Excellent idea on the use of the extra RV water heater. Processing whole chickens down into sections makes it so much easier to store in the freezer. Hey Hollars!!! So good to see you back again.. Maybe its just me but it feels like its been a bit since you have been on.
Buggy is growing up so fast! She is beautiful.
That is so awesome how you don't waste any bit of that chicken. Sounds like you guys I've got it down to a science. Great seeing your boys help out. I love seeing them take care of their little sis. 🥰💖💖💖

Your little one is gorgeous …what a sweetie ..

I'm a retired chef, and I can certainly that this was a beautiful little example of how to bone out a chicken.
Well done guys. :)
Outdoor kitchen looking n working good!!
You are such a cute family. Everyone helping one another. Great in service❤️
Your daughter is adorable. I enjoy all the blogs about farming and gardening, but it’s also fun to watch her grow.

A wonderful way to fully use the whole chicken!

Hey, guys love your channel you and your family are a joy to watch. I heart you say something about putting noodles on for your chicken. OMG you could teach Buggy to say “good morning beautiful ppl’ total cuteness overload.
Thanks for how-to on how to piece out the bird. This is what I want to do but most videos just show packaging the whole bird for the freezer
I just smile big at your excitement Ben. Portable sink with hot water. NICE!!! I hadn't realized how much your boys shot up over the summer. They are looking like young men. Buggy is so cute and growing too.
Buggy! You are the cutest little sweetie ever. Love the hot water sink. Excellent!❤😊🐓🐓🐓

Love it when Meg says "Call it a day and eat something NOT chicken"
ADORABLE
Great idea to pick the meat off after a quick boil. Full pantries and freezers are such a blessing! Every bit counts!
Awesome job
You have a lot to be thankful for this year
Sweet baby girl !!
Buggy is so adorable. The camera loves her. Lol. It’s nice to be able to do the whole process yourself. Great video.
You guys are just killing it. Such an awesome family , love that Buggy she is so darn cute.
Absolutely LOVE your videos! Just love "Buggy" and the boys too! The perfect family.
You guys make me wonder why more humans don't do what your doing, but that's why we are where we are, and hopefully lots more people watch u guys and learn. Thank you.
The highlight of the video for me was the Lego room. I love seeing what people have going on in their sheds.
Ben, Meg and family, wish you all a very safe and blessed Thanksgiving! Love your family, channel and info! I wish I could be your neighbor and learn all the great stuff ya'll know! Smart young people!
It is so great that you are teaching the boys how to do all these things and they seem very willing. Good Job Meg and Ben!
Just want to say, a Great Family working together. Y’all are so knowledgeable, it’s amazing. 🐓
Prayers & Blessings 🥀🙏🥀
Best ending to a video!
I for one hope y’all start filming all the time again! I have missed seeing buggy!!
Buggy is so cute like her Mom and the boys dont seem to mind work like their Dad. Always enjoy catching up on the Hollar Homestead. Hope you and your's a Happy Thanksgiving.
That man knows how to work with his hands.....🥰😍😍
I love watching your videos. What a fantastic family. You all have learned so much. 😉
Great video, guys! I just love how you are able to use what you have and create such a successful homestead! It is so great that you have the older buildings and contents on your property since you are always able to turn “trash” into treasure.
I love making bone broth with Apple cider vinegar. Never thought of throwing the extra chicken into pasta. Great idea thanks.
I learned to add Apple Cider Vinegar to bones many years ago from a lady on TV in the 70's.
