    i had one at a cajun restaurant that used spicy strawberry jam and sprinkled a little powdered sugar on top. absolutely delicious ❤

    One of my favorite sandwich recipes❤. For those wondering yes jam is kinda a must as its a complementary favour. The taste is like a typical grilled ham cheese sandwich but with a slight sweet taste thanks to the jam.

      @@mzhoneybunchesofoats you could but you'd have to do taste testing first to see which meat or replacement is best. I sometimes use chicken or turkey ham to make the sandwich I prefer turkey.

      Thank you for your comment. To each country, his own customs I presume. I was curious about this dish because I wrongfully assumed it was italian, then I was weirded out by the jam and I learned about the fact that it is like a hit for breakfast (here you would probably eat it in the afternoon or for dinner)!
      I'm drawn by foreigner cuisine so I think that I'm definitely gonna try this sandwich, it's pretty similar to the french croque-monsieur, which I like a lot. I'm torn because in Italy we would never pair prosciutto and strawberry jam, but I suppose it's right to give it a try. Maybe I'll add just a tiny bit to see if I like it. :)

    We do these here in the states but on a butter croissant. It also complements well with the jam if you use a sharp cheese such as white cheddar.

      Also white cheddar would not go well with the raspberry jam. And it would make it not a Monte Cristo.

    A Monte Cristo is always sprinkled with sugar, usually powdered sugar.

      a standard monte cristo doesn't actually have jam in it, but from personal experience, this recipe tastes so good

      치즈가 녹았는데 잠시 식힌 뒤 잘라서 흐르지는 않았어요~
      모짜렐라치즈가 아닌 체다치즈라서 많이 늘어나지는 않는답니다~

      버터는 빨리 타서 식용유로 먼저 빵가루 노릇하게 구워지게끔 한 뒤에 버터향 입히시는 듯 해요!

      토스트가 도톰해서 굽는 시간이 조금 걸리는 편인데 버터는 빨리 검게 타버리기 때문에 식용유로 굽다가 버터로 향을 더해주었어요~
